Exhausted from the fight, Ye Weiliang kicked Liu Pandie:

“What are you still lying there for? Hurry up and make breakfast. Are you trying to starve me? Acting like a little princess! You were born to suffer, not to enjoy life—get up and cook!”

Every insult Liu Pandie had thrown at her just moments ago was now returned word for word.Full novel: 1960s: The Capital Heiress, Both Fierce and Sweet — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Liu Pandie opened her mouth to scold again, but when she met Ye Weiliang’s piercing gaze, she obediently shut it. Otherwise, she’d be on the receiving end of another cane whipping.

“What are you all still lying on the ground for? Do you want me to get your blankets for you?”

Hearing this, the other three scrambled to their feet but were momentarily lost, unsure what to do.

“You, go wash clothes. You, mop the floor. As for you, bring me two hundred yuan.”

“Two hundred?!!” Ye Tangsheng exclaimed.

Ye Weiliang didn’t bother explaining, simply swung her cane.

The pain made Ye Tangsheng jump: “I’m your father!”

“No, you’re not.” Ye Weiliang squinted at him seriously.

Ye Tangsheng quietly shut his mouth.

After a few more cane lashes, he begrudgingly went into the house to fetch two hundred yuan for Ye Weiliang.

When Ye Weiliang’s gaze swept over the brother and sister, they immediately scurried off like frightened rabbits, busying themselves with chores.

As Ye Ying carried a washbasin to do the laundry, she realized she didn’t know how to wash clothes at all.

Everything before had been done by Ye Er’ya.

Before age two, Liu Pandie washed and cooked for Ye Er’ya. After that, Ye Er’ya herself had to do the laundry.

By six, she was learning to cook.

Rice too much? Beatings.

Vegetables too salty? Beatings.

Vegetables too bland? Beatings.

Ate too much? Beatings.

…

No matter what Ye Er’ya did, she was beaten.

If she did well, it was expected.

If she did poorly, it wasn’t enough—Liu Pandie beat her mercilessly.

Neighbors could hear Ye Er’ya crying every day.

They wanted to help but were powerless.

“Why does it concern you if I hit my child? Who doesn’t hit their kids?” they’d say, leaving everyone speechless.

After receiving the two hundred yuan, Liu Pandie also prepared breakfast.

She carefully set it on the table, ready for her precious son, but when she met Ye Weiliang’s cold gaze, she dared not say a word.

After eating, Ye Weiliang turned and went into Ye Ying’s room:

“My bed is wet. From today on, I’ll sleep in this room.”

Ye Ying screamed: “Why? This is my room!”

Ye Weiliang whipped her: “Whose room is it?”

“Ahhh! You little brat! I’ll fight you!”

Ye Ying, furious, tried to scratch Ye Weiliang but was powerless against her.

“Whose room is it?” Ye Weiliang asked again.

“Y-yours… it’s yours,” Ye Ying admitted reluctantly.

Ye Weiliang nodded in satisfaction, entered the room, and locked the door.

She dug through Ye Ying’s wardrobe, found some newly bought clothes, and got dressed, then began assessing the current situation.

It was late July, 1966. The W Revolution had begun, and this body was only fourteen years old.

Ye Er’ya had just graduated high school. If she hadn’t been prevented from taking the university entrance exam, she’d already be a college student.

The family had never intended to let Ye Er’ya study—only her high school teacher had helped her.

Ye Er’ya had been diligent, always ranking first and bringing honor to her school.

At present, the Ye family members in the military compound had been sent away or relocated.

Ye Shiwian had just been sent to a remote island as a sent-down youth, with still two to three years before she would cut ties with the Ye family in the story.

Ye Weiliang knew where the family had been sent. She planned to visit—not to reconcile, but to watch them embarrass themselves.

The other Ye family descendants were mostly fine, sent away early; as long as they didn’t make major mistakes, nothing would happen.

The eldest son held a high position, so no one dared touch him.

The second son and his wife were assigned elsewhere, unable to harm the family.

Only this body’s biological parents had been sent to Heisheng, Qishi, along with Ye Laoye and Ye Laofuren.

Ye Weiliang caressed the jade pendant she had snatched from King Yama. It had a purple-flower design, smooth and lustrous, radiating a serene green or pure white glow as it reflected the light.

Ye Weiliang felt a stir in her mind.

She pricked her finger with an embroidery needle; fresh blood welled from the puncture. She dripped it onto the jade pendant.

A flash of light, and she felt her left chest warm. In a blink, she found herself in a world of green mountains and clear waters.

Her heart leapt—indeed, this jade pendant contained a small space.

No wonder King Yama had been so furious when it was stolen.

Haha, this really was a treasure.

Now she could stockpile supplies without worry.

Even going to the countryside wouldn’t be difficult.

Thinking this, she returned to her current room.

She glanced at the locked door, then focused, and entered the pendant’s space again.

This time, she looked carefully—she wanted to plan it properly.

Stepping on lush green grass, she gazed at distant mountains, rivers, blue skies, clouds, and a gentle breeze.

This was a complete little world.

Behind her stood a quaint bamboo house, fenced in. The fence was covered in blooming roses, beautiful and fragrant.

She walked to the bamboo house. The door was slightly ajar; pushing it open, she saw an ancient letter.

Against the wall were rows of redwood shelves, filled with jade bottles and various books and jade scrolls.

She picked up the letter, intending to read it—but it floated into the air, spinning. An ancient voice sounded:

“My name is Xuan Zhen. This jade is the result of my countless trials. Yet the world is unpredictable; a lightning tribulation struck me—purple thunder, destroying my Dao heart. Heaven is merciless and would not allow me to continue. I hate it! I name this jade Li; four seasons like spring, the sea accepts all rivers, all things may reside within.”

“This jade is highly spiritual; it will choose its destined owner. The spring at the bamboo house entrance is a spiritual spring; though it cannot resurrect the dead, it can cleanse the body and strengthen it. Drink often for best results. Rare herbs grow inside the bamboo house; may the destined owner treat them well.”

“The bamboo house also contains my medical books; the destined owner may study freely and pass on the knowledge. Any items placed inside will never rot or decay.”

“Destined owner, I shall now disappear into the world. This jade is yours; my alchemy pills are also gifted to you. Possessing a treasure brings envy, so treasure it well.”

The floating letter then drifted away like dust in the wind.

At that moment, Ye Weiliang felt a deep connection to this world. Even a thought could instantly transport her anywhere within the space.

Whatever she wanted would come to her hand immediately.

Recalling Xuan Zhen’s words, she drank from the spiritual spring. Cool, sweet, more refreshing than farmer’s spring water.

But within two minutes, she felt her bones being broken, reassembled, then broken again—a painful half-hour of agony.

Black sweat and grime oozed from her body.

When it ended, she was covered in mud and foul odor, reeking horribly.

Ignoring the water’s temperature, she jumped in to wash herself, taking two full hours to clean every bit.

Emerging, her dull hair shone, skin white and radiant, and all injuries healed.

“This is truly an amazing treasure,” Ye Weiliang marveled.

Dressed, she knelt before the bamboo house and kowtowed three times:

“Master above, please accept your disciple’s three bows. I, Ye Weiliang, will carry on your medical teachings.”

“Hahaha, good, good. Today I accept you as my disciple. In the future, take care. Remember: possessing treasure brings envy.”

Xuan Zhen then truly vanished, leaving the space entirely under Ye Weiliang’s control.

She grabbed a bottle of Nourishing Pill from the shelf and felt warmth circulate through her meridians.

After a moment, she left the space. Though she had been there a long time, only five minutes had passed outside.

If the bamboo house could preserve anything indefinitely, time inside the space was clearly paused.

Ye Weiliang admired her clever temporary master even more.

Even King Yama in the underworld watched, sighing:

“Fine, fine, this girl is fated with the jade. Let her keep it. Our mistake caused her death.”

He also reduced her overpowered “super-strength” skill to normal levels.
