The celebrations finally subsided.

One by one, Dinamo’s players jogged back into their own half, still grinning from ear to ear.

Even the substitutes on the bench struggled to sit still.Full novel: A Football Genius — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The atmosphere had transformed completely.

Just minutes earlier, defeat had seemed inevitable.

Now…

There was hope.

The scoreboard glowed brightly above the stadium.

**86:00**

**Iberia 1999 1–1 Dinamo Tbilisi**

Ferdinand Feldhofer clapped loudly from the technical area.

“Focus!”

“There’s still time!”

He knew better than anyone that football could change in an instant.

And unfortunately…

It did.

The referee blew his whistle.

Play resumed.

This time, Iberia wasted no time asserting themselves.

The equalizer had wounded their pride.

A match they had controlled for so long had been dragged back to level terms by a sixteen-year-old making his professional debut.

The league leaders wanted an immediate response.

They pressed higher.

Moved the ball faster.

Every pass carried greater urgency.

“They’re looking for the winner,” the commentator observed.

“You can feel the change in intensity.”

Cheikhou Diouf Sylla dropped deeper to receive possession.

The striker had tormented Dinamo throughout the evening.

Strong.

Intelligent.

Always available.

He received the ball with a defender tight against his back.

One touch.

He spun gracefully.

Without even looking, he threaded a perfectly weighted pass into space.

It rolled directly toward Dhoraso Klas on the right flank.

Klas barely took a touch.

Instead…

He whipped an early ball forward.

Not into the box.

Into the channel between center-back and fullback.

Irakli Sikharulidze exploded through the gap.

For much of the evening, the Iberia forward had been anonymous.

Barely involved.

Barely mentioned.

Sometimes…

That was all a striker needed.

One moment.

The assistant referee remained perfectly still.

The flag stayed down.

“He looks offside!”

one Dinamo defender shouted desperately.

Play continued.

Sikharulidze raced toward goal.

Makatsaria rushed off his line.

The angle narrowed.

The striker remained composed.

With his left foot…

He drove a low shot toward the far corner.

Makatsaria reacted instantly, throwing himself downward.

Too late.

The ball skipped past his fingertips.

Into the bottom corner.

The net rippled.

For a heartbeat…

The stadium held its breath.

Then the home supporters erupted.

“GOAL!”

the commentator shouted.

“IRAKLI SIKHARULIDZE!”

“IBERIA RESPOND IMMEDIATELY!”

“JUST TWO MINUTES AFTER CONCEDING!”

The Iberia bench emptied onto the touchline.

Players embraced near the corner flag.

Sikharulidze pounded the club badge on his chest.

Dinamo’s players simply stood still.

Some glanced toward the assistant referee.

Still no flag.

The goal stood.

The scoreboard changed once more.

**88:00**

**Iberia 1999 2–1 Dinamo Tbilisi**

Giorgi slowly walked back toward the center circle.

His heartbeat remained steady.

One goal behind.

Again.

Around him, frustration was beginning to show.

A defender kicked the grass.

Another muttered something under his breath.

Someone else argued briefly with the referee.

Giorgi ignored it all.

Complaining wouldn’t change the score.

Only football could.

The game restarted.

This time, Iberia had no intention of opening themselves up.

Every player seemed willing to defend.

Midfielders dropped deeper.

The fullbacks rarely crossed the halfway line.

Iberia slowed everything down.

A throw-in took a little longer.

A free kick was delayed by a few extra seconds.

Safe passes.

Patient possession.

Every second drained precious time away from the visitors.

The frustration grew.

Dinamo’s midfield tried repeatedly to find Davit and Giorgi.

Each attempt failed.

A pass intercepted.

A cross blocked.

A through ball overhit.

Ferdinand paced relentlessly along the technical area.

“Move!”

“Faster!”

“Forward!”

But Iberia refused to crack.

The stadium clock rolled over.

**90:00**

The fourth official raised the electronic board.

**+4**

Four minutes.

That was all.

Four minutes to rescue a point.

Or lose everything.

The commentator’s voice reflected the tension perfectly.

“Four additional minutes.”

“For Dinamo Tbilisi…”

“It may be their last opportunity.”

The visitors pushed everyone forward.

Center-backs advanced beyond the halfway line.

Fullbacks practically became wingers.

Even Makatsaria stood several yards outside his penalty area whenever Dinamo had possession.

There was no longer any point in caution.

One final attack.

Aleksandre Kalandadze looked up from defense.

Every obvious passing lane had been closed.

Most players would have recycled possession.

Started again.

He chose differently.

His right foot sliced through the ball.

A firm, accurate pass split Iberia’s midfield.

It threaded between two opponents before arriving perfectly at Giorgi Loria’s feet.

Immediately…

The stadium seemed to hold its breath.

The cameras zoomed in.

The commentator’s voice sharpened.

“It’s him again.”

The sixteen-year-old stood with his back toward goal.

An Iberia defender pressed tightly behind him.

No room to turn.

No room to breathe.

Giorgi remained calm.

His left shoulder dipped.

The defender leaned that way.

Instantly…

Giorgi shifted right.

The defender followed again.

Exactly what Giorgi wanted.

One sharp pivot.

A graceful spin.

The defender stumbled half a step.

That was enough.

Now…

He faced the goal.

The crowd rose to its feet.

He carried the ball forward slowly.

Not rushing.

Waiting.

Watching.

Scanning.

Two defenders hesitated.

Should they close him down?

Or protect the passing lanes?

The uncertainty worked in Giorgi’s favor.

He noticed movement.

Just a glimpse.

A run beginning behind the defensive line.

Davit.

Perfect.

Without hesitation…

Giorgi struck the ball.

His body shape screamed one thing.

**Shot.**

The goalkeeper believed it.

Revaz Kurtanidze immediately pushed off his line, preparing to dive.

The defenders believed it too.

Several instinctively stepped forward, expecting to block a strike.

Even the commentary fell for it.

“Loria shoots—”

Except…

He hadn’t.

The ball wasn’t heading toward the goal.

It curved beautifully across the six-yard box.

An inch above head height.

Then…

Almost like magic…

A blue shirt burst into view.

“Where did he come from?!”

Davit Iobashvili had timed his run to perfection.

He rose between two defenders.

Neck muscles tightened.

Forehead met ball.

**THUD!**

The header flew back across the goalkeeper.

Kurtanidze could only watch.

The net rippled.

**GOAL!**

For a second time…

The away end exploded.

“GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!”

The commentator almost laughed in disbelief.

“DINAMO HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!”

“IT’S DAVIT IOBASHVILI!”

“BUT WHAT A PASS!”

“WHAT VISION FROM THE YOUNGSTER!”

“EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS SHOOTING!”

“HE’S FOOLED THE ENTIRE STADIUM!”

The replay immediately confirmed it.

Every single Iberia defender had reacted to the apparent shot.

Even the goalkeeper had shifted toward the near post.

Only Davit knew the truth.

Only Giorgi had seen him.

Davit sprinted toward the corner flag before turning back.

He pointed directly at Giorgi.

“That was all you!”

Giorgi laughed as teammates rushed toward them.

Again, he disappeared beneath a wave of blue shirts.

Someone shouted into his ear.

“Two goal contributions!”

“On your debut!”

“You little magician!”

Even Ferdinand allowed himself a rare smile.

His gamble had paid off.

Magnificently.

Charlotte wiped fresh tears from her eyes.

She’d already cried after the first goal.

Now she simply laughed through them.

Her son.

Sixteen years old.

One stunning goal.

One brilliant assist.

Against the league leaders.

She looked toward the evening sky for just a moment.

*”Did you see that, Nikoloz?”*

*”Our boy is unbelievable.”*

The scoreboard updated once again.

<92:00>

<>Iberia 1999 2–2 Dinamo Tbilisi<>

The stadium buzzed with disbelief.

A match that had looked comfortably under Iberia’s control had become an instant classic.

And at the heart of it…

Number 55.

The celebrations ended quickly.

There was still football to play.

The referee urged everyone back toward the center circle.

Play resumed.

Both teams sensed there might still be one final chance.

Iberia attacked once.

A cross was cleared.

Dinamo countered.

A through ball was intercepted.

The clock kept ticking.

Ninety-three minutes.

Ninety-four.

Players who had covered over ten kilometers were now surviving on pure determination.

Neither side possessed the energy to create one last decisive opportunity.

Finally…

The referee checked his watch.

He lifted the whistle.

A pause.

Then one final, piercing blast.

Full time.

The players collapsed where they stood.

Some with relief.

Some with disappointment.

Some simply exhausted.

The final score shone brightly above the pitch.

<>Iberia 1999 2–2 Dinamo Tbilisi<>

For Iberia, it felt like two points lost.

For Dinamo, it felt like a point rescued from the jaws of defeat.

As Giorgi stood catching his breath near the halfway line, applause began to ripple around the stadium.

It grew louder.

And louder.

Soon, thousands of supporters, home and away alike, were on their feet.

Not for the result.

Not for either club.

But for the fearless sixteen-year-old wearing number 55, whose unforgettable debut had turned an ordinary league match into one that Georgian football fans would remember for years to come.
