Zining and Chen Quan parted on bad terms, but the video still needed to be edited.

Driven by her frustration, Zining stubbornly spent the entire day editing the video in her dorm. The video started with interviews about the medical dispute at Mingxintang and ended with Doctor Shen Jiang completing her pulse diagnosis.

Zining didn’t include Chen Quan’s segment in the edit. After all, this was Chen Quan’s private matter – he couldn’t stand anyone suggesting he was ill now. If she posted his segment online, it might cause significant disruption to his life.Full novel: A Guide to Benefiting the World with Medicinal Herbs from Another World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Although Zining was angry with him, she wouldn’t take it out on him by exposing his privacy.

“If only he’d agree to get examined, things would be much simpler. What a shame.” Zining murmured to herself as she finished checking the audio tracks and subtitle details before clicking send to Shen Jiang.

However, handling subtitles and background music entirely by herself was quite challenging. Looking at this slightly rough-cut video, Zining felt some regret. Originally, this video could have been edited much more exquisitely.

Still, she had managed to complete the edit without Chen Quan’s help – it seemed she had underestimated her own abilities.

A fighting spirit ignited in Zining’s eyes. After editing a few more videos, she was sure she could surpass that guy Chen Quan’s editing skills.

After uploading the video to the platform, Zining waited half a day, but instead of finding netizens who shared her perspective, she was met with a flood of criticism.

“Reported. How much did this uploader get paid by that shady clinic to make up such nonsense! Has your conscience been eaten by dogs?”

…

“Let me see if anyone in the comments actually believes this. How mentally deficient would you have to be to believe this video?”

…

“What a pity that someone so attractive would stoop to such deception! I was going to say the girl looks quite cute, but unfortunately she’s just a barefaced liar. Too many flaws to even list.”

Zining: Hey, getting feisty, are we?

Her slender fingers danced across the keyboard, typing out responses fueled by maximum fury.

In her entire life, Zining had never lost an argument, but even with her sharp tongue, she couldn’t out-shout a horde of people.

Not only that, but Zining also received an official warning from the platform: A large number of viewers have reported your video for distorting facts and involving false manipulation of public opinion. If you cannot promptly provide proof of the video’s authenticity, the platform will remove this video.

Zining: “!”

“Hey, has the sun risen from the west today? Chen Quan, why are you back in the dorm at this hour?”

Sun An, who had just finished playing basketball, opened the door to find his roommate Chen Quan sitting at his desk spacing out, looking completely distracted.

“This is my dorm room,” Chen Quan said coldly, frowning at his freshly returned roommate. “Since when do I need to report to you about when I come back?”

“What’s wrong with you today? Did you swallow gunpowder or something?” The roommate was almost taken aback by his retort. Chen Quan had always been the most easygoing person in their dorm – what was wrong with him today? He glanced at the others in the room, sending out questioning signals.

“Could you go take a shower first? Every time you come back from basketball, your sweat stink could knock out a bear.” Chen Quan fired another shot, his face overflowing with disgust.

“Hey, I’ve noticed you…”

The dorm monitor, seeing the tension escalating between them, quickly covered his nose and stepped in to mediate: “Anzi, not to criticize you, but you should pay more attention to personal hygiene. Look what you’ve driven even someone as good-tempered as Chen Quan to become.”

Another roommate peeked at Chen Quan and said, “Are you feeling unwell, Chen Quan? I’ve played several rounds of this game, and you haven’t changed your posture at all.”

Hearing this, Sun An scratched his head sheepishly. So that was why Chen Quan seemed inexplicably off today—he must be sick. Sun An didn’t press further and slipped into the bathroom.

Seeing his roommate’s concerned expression, Chen Quan forced himself to perk up. “I’m fine…”

The dorm leader retorted, “You don’t look fine to me. By the way, does Zining know you’re sick? This is a perfect opportunity to let her know. She might even bring you some caring porridge or something—your chance is right here!”

Chen Quan’s previously eased expression instantly froze over. “Who said I’m sick? I’m not sick!”

The two remaining roommates exchanged glances and immediately understood why Chen Quan was acting so strangely today.

The kid must have gotten rejected.

Annoyed, Chen Quan pulled out his phone and checked WeChat. The family group on mute had 99+ unread messages, while the pinned contact’s chat was empty—utterly silent.

He laughed at himself mockingly. What was he even expecting? After embarrassing her so badly this morning, given Zining’s stubborn temper, she would never reach out first.

But it had been a whole day. Had she cooled off by now?

If it weren’t for that meddling female doctor, he’d probably be joking around with Zining in some café, editing videos together… The thought stirred a surge of irrational anger in him.

He usually helped Zining edit videos—she only had to boss him around. He wondered if she could handle it alone now.

Zining was proud. Maybe she was waiting for him to give her an excuse to reconcile.

Chen Quan’s eyes lit up. He picked up his phone and messaged Zining: “Still need help editing videos?”

Fifteen minutes later, his phone finally glowed.

“I finished editing long ago. Doctor Shen asked me to remind you not to stay up late. You don’t need to help me edit videos overnight anymore—do whatever you want.”

Her words nearly made him choke with fury.

Doctor Shen, Doctor Shen—had that woman put a curse on Zining?! Besides, he could edit videos for her during the day too. How could some woman she’d just met outweigh their bond of over half a year?

Chen Quan logged into the platform to find Zining’s uploaded video. As expected, the only comments were a cesspool of insults, utterly vile.

Zining, true to form, still had the energy to argue with every single netizen. No wonder she hadn’t replied to him immediately.

Exasperated, he thought, Even in this state, she’s stubbornly acting fine. Gotta give her credit for pride.

After a moment’s thought, he sent another message: “If I give you important material, will you reimburse me?”

Zining replied swiftly: “?”

Chen Quan: “I’m going to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow.”

Zining: “What does that have to do with me?”

Isn’t this what you want—to help that female doctor? he thought. “I’ll let you film the whole process. How about it? Isn’t that important material? The best proof of Doctor Shen’s medical skills.”

Zining: “I’ll consider it. Now go wash up and sleep.”

Chen Quan checked the time and nearly laughed in disbelief.

It’s not even 8 p.m., and she’s telling me to sleep? Even if I were sick, this is beyond exaggerated.

The dorm leader listened to Chen Quan alternating between cold sneers and muffled grunts—a complete state of schizophrenia. Damn, could it be that this guy’s heartbreak was so severe he’d straight up turned perverted?

With his mind weighed down by troubles, Chen Quan found everything irritating. He simply went to bed early, yet sleep remained entirely out of reach.
