She couldn’t change, so he had to adapt…

Godwin truly hadn’t expected that his human follower would frequently disappear without reason for such a cause.

The human before him was elusive with mysterious methods, making it impossible for the dragon to figure her out. Godwin could hardly imagine what kind of new followers this person would recruit for him.

Facing the curious gaze of the evil dragon, Shen Jiang was momentarily at a loss for words.

“Please allow me to explain,” Shen Jiang sighed slightly. “Respected Great Dragon, you are the greatest existence in this world. I must select the most loyal and diligent followers for you, who must not show any disrespect toward you, nor covet your precious treasures. As your first human follower, I will never lower the standards and let some rabble defile this sacred place.

Therefore… no one has yet appeared who can pass my tests.”

Godwin’s golden, translucent eyes deeply gazed at his human follower.

The strings in Shen Jiang’s heart instantly tightened.

“Good, you’ve done well. I never expected you to be so thoughtful.”

Shen Jiang breathed a long sigh of relief in her heart – that was close, too close.

Watching the satisfied Great Dragon’s retreating figure, Shen Jiang thought: Perhaps the time has come for her to venture out and see this world full of unknowns.

There was no Musk on this mountain that could save Grandma. If she kept hiding here picking herbs, she might gain wealth and personal safety, but she would never obtain the Musk.

If she couldn’t save Grandma, all of this would be meaningless to her.

While digging for herbs and contemplating how to leave this Dragon Mountain to search for Musk, Shen Jiang noticed a silver light in the distant sky growing larger and larger until the form within the light gradually became clear – it was actually a silver Great Dragon somewhat similar in appearance to the Black Dragon.

“Look what I’ve found, a lovely human girl.” The Silver Dragon folded its wings and leisurely examined the human carrying a Back Basket and holding a small hoe, wearing well-fitted, lightweight clothes with smooth, shiny black hair, who didn’t even show panic at his sudden arrival.

Who was this human girl?

The holy silver-white dragon’s face showed some incredible disbelief and novelty.

Shen Jiang was even more surprised than him – the Silver Dragon before her was simply too beautiful!

Just by changing its skin color, the visual effect of the black and white dragons standing together was worlds apart.

The Silver Dragon emitted a soft, glowing white light all over, with a pair of clear azure blue eyes, holy and beautiful, making it impossible to look away. In contrast, Godwin seemed like he wanted to suck people into his black vortex, with an overwhelming sense of evil that made one dare not look at him for long.

“What are you doing here?” Godwin asked irritably. “Don’t look at her with that disgusting expression. She’s just an ordinary follower, completely insignificant.”

“An insignificant follower? I don’t think so.” The Silver Dragon’s aura was powerful, but his eyes were very gentle. “I’ve never seen any human able to move around outside your Dragon lair. Is she clearing weeds for you? It seems you asked me about Yafuruis for her sake some time ago.”

Godwin disliked this inexplicably tense atmosphere. The Silver Dragon’s affectionate teasing made him extremely uncomfortable. Impatiently, he shot an orange-red Dragon Flame toward the sky. “If you’re just passing by, get lost! You know I don’t have the habit of idle chatter.”

The Silver Dragon gave an understanding smile. “I’m here on Kellan’s behalf to deliver a wedding invitation. Next month, he will hold a ceremony with Princess Elizabeth. You’ll attend, right?”

“Whether I go or not is none of your business! Pelin, it seems you’re itching for a beating.”

Shen Jiang’s breath caught: A princess!

Do the evil dragons here still uphold the bad tradition of kidnapping princesses?!

Looking at the massive bodies of the two Great Dragons before her, she silently lit a candle in her heart for that delicate princess.

She could hardly ensure her own safety now, rendering her powerless to help. She hoped Princess Elizabeth would suffer less at the hands of the Great Dragons.

Suddenly, Shen Jiang felt the air grow slightly quiet and noticed both Great Dragons staring at her.

Godwin: “What’s that expression on your face??”

Shen Jiang shook her head urgently: “Nothing, nothing, respected Lord Godwin. I was just feeling a bit envious of that princess, who actually gets to accompany Lord Kellan as his partner.”

Godwin’s expression instantly turned peculiar.

The Silver Dragon spoke while suppressing laughter: “I never expected this adorable human to have such an amusing personality. Godwin, I finally understand why you let her stay.”

Godwin wanted to curse, but he knew the more he said, the more he’d reveal. Facing this cunning clansman, he remained constantly vigilant.

Godwin shut his mouth, only glaring fiercely at Shen Jiang. Intimidated by his ferocious gaze, she couldn’t help but shrink back.

Look at this spineless attitude again. She clearly holds the strongest trump card, yet remains as timid as a mouse. Godwin simply couldn’t manage a pleasant expression toward her.

“Godwin, I think Kellan would warmly welcome you bringing this adorable human along.”

The Silver Dragon winked at Shen Jiang. “Nice to meet you. I’m Pelin, delighted to make the acquaintance of such an adorable human lady.”

Although Shen Jiang disliked their bandit-like behavior of seizing princesses, she was utterly charmed by the Silver Dragon’s wink.

Ahhh! Such a beautiful creature suddenly acting playful totally hit her soft spot.

“Hello, my name is Shen Jiang.”

Godwin shifted his body to block the human from view, looking displeased at the Silver Dragon as if saying, “Why aren’t you leaving yet?”

The Silver Dragon let out a hearty laugh. “Godwin, it’s rare to see this side of you. This trip was truly worthwhile. You must bring her along to the wedding.”

Godwin could no longer restrain himself. A rolling fireball shot from his mouth toward the Silver Dragon. Shen Jiang watched wide-eyed as the Silver Dragon vanished into thin air just before the fireball could strike him, her jaw dropping in astonishment.

Suddenly, she noticed something thick and sheet-like in her hand. It felt peculiar to the touch—smooth and delicate—and its color matched the Silver Dragon’s scales exactly.

Was this… a meeting gift from the Silver Dragon?

Godwin’s eyes blazed with fury. Damned Silver Dragon, how dare he give orders! Whether to bring this human along was his own decision to consider—who gave him the right to interfere?

Based on the level of devotion his follower had for him, she would undoubtedly pester and harass him relentlessly, forcing him to take her to Kellan’s wedding.

The Silver Dragon had no idea just how clingy she could be.

Godwin blew several bursts of Dragon Flame into the air, attempting to disperse the magical aura left behind by the Silver Dragon.

Yet he could still sense a faint, elusive trace of spatial magic—could it be that the Silver Dragon hadn’t actually left?

As Godwin scanned all possible hiding spots around him, he spotted his follower tucking away a silvery-white Dragon Scale.

Only a Dragon Scale voluntarily given by a dragon would emit energy unique to the dragon’s magical attributes due to the blessing.

No wonder he couldn’t locate the source of the lingering spatial magic—he had overlooked her.

Shen Jiang casually slipped the silver Dragon Scale into her shirt pocket. Giving her his scale to play with—did he think she was a child? Although it was quite beautiful, she had long passed the age where little girls loved collecting such things.

She simply regarded the Dragon Scale as a pretty yet polite little gift.

“That fellow is quite generous, giving you such a precious gift upon your first meeting. It seems he really likes you,” the Black Dragon remarked meaningfully, glancing at his follower.

Shen Jiang was somewhat confused. Couldn’t dragons easily give away scales from their bodies? Actually, she wasn’t all that keen on it… Wait a minute, why did she feel that Godwin’s tone sounded strangely sour?

Perhaps, for dragons, the scales of their kind held some special significance.

Or perhaps, Black Dragon Godwin harbored some hidden, unknown affection for that beautiful Silver Dragon.

Without hesitation, Shen Jiang pulled the Dragon Scale from her pocket and presented it with both hands. “If you like this scale, my lord, I am willing to offer it to you.”

Seeing the human’s genuine, urgent expression, Godwin couldn’t help but view her in a new light. This was no ordinary scale—the Silver Dragon mastered unique magic for traversing time and space, and a scale imbued with his magical energy naturally possessed similar functions, such as allowing the possessor to go anywhere they desired. Of course, such a scale could only be used three times.

He had heard that humans had also created magic scrolls with teleportation abilities, but those shoddy imitations were nowhere near comparable to the Silver Dragon’s scale.

His follower was certainly generous—to willingly offer such a treasure without batting an eye.

But he wanted nothing to do with items tainted by another dragon’s aura. As for Dragon Scales, he had his own, as many as he could want.

Moreover, his scales were a hundred times more useful than that Silver Dragon’s. Dragon Flame could be stored in a scale in measured quantities without any usage limits.

Sure enough, upon seeing the other black Dragon Scale in her hand, his follower slightly parted her lips, looking utterly flattered.

Godwin couldn’t help but think, She really does prefer my scale after all. So it’s not about the scale itself, but who gives it.

The Great Dragon’s tail swayed gently behind him once more as Godwin tried to appear nonchalant.

His follower was far too obsessed and worshipful of him; it was hard for her not to get excited over his favors. Since he couldn’t change her, he would just have to reluctantly adapt.

Shen Jiang put on a show of super excitement: “Wow.”

In reality, she was silently grumbling internally: these dragons hoard piles of treasure in their dragon lairs, yet they’re so stingy when giving gifts. Giving a single scale—how is that any different from giving someone a strand of hair or a fingernail?

“It seems you prefer the Dragon Scale I gifted you,” Godwin concluded with considerable satisfaction.

Shen Jiang replied perfunctorily, “Of course, you are unique to me.”

As if possessed by some whim, Godwin asked, “Do you even know the purpose of a Dragon Scale?”

Sure enough, the human showed a bewildered expression, as if saying: Huh? What use could a Dragon Scale possibly have?

Godwin felt somewhat exasperated but patiently gave the clueless individual a brief explanation of the two Dragon Scales’ functions.

The follower’s eyes instantly lit up with a brilliance he recognized well—it was the same expression she’d worn when first tasked with clearing the weeds.

Now, her gaze kept lingering on the Silver Dragon’s scales, unable to tear itself away.

Godwin slowly curled his lips into a faint, dangerous smile, leaning down to whisper demonically in Shen Jiang’s ear:

“You may only keep one of the two scales. Tell me, which will you choose?”
