“Alright.” Chen Jun knew her mind was made up, so he stopped trying to dissuade her. He got up without finishing his meal to organize the files.

Fortunately, the files had been neatly categorized, so in just a few minutes, Chen Jun placed them in front of her.

Sitting down, he began to explain slowly, “These include not only difficult and chronic cases that are hard to treat, but also some records from other doctors for your reference. After all, you’re new to this hospital, and it’s always good to learn more.”Full novel: A Laid-Back 1970s Army Wife: Winning from Day One by Cleaning Out the Capitalist Family — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Right, that makes sense. Thank you,” Su Jinhui said humbly, nodding.

Although this wasn’t her first time working in a hospital, decades had passed, and understanding the mindset of doctors in the current era wasn’t a bad thing.

As she ate and flipped through the medical records, her expression darkened within three minutes.

“Is something wrong?” Chen Jun swallowed a bite of fish and asked, puzzled.

Su Jinhui pointed at the last diagnosis, which read “gastritis.” “This patient clearly has stomach cancer. Why does it say gastritis? Isn’t this a misdiagnosis?”

“What did you say?” Chen Jun quickly put down his chopsticks and skimmed the case. The doctor who signed it at the end was Luo Ping. “How did you figure out it’s stomach cancer? Dr. Luo is experienced; he wouldn’t make a mistake like this.”

“The patient has already shown symptoms of bleeding and frequent pain. While early-stage stomach cancer can resemble regular stomach issues, I can guarantee this patient has stomach cancer. This is a misdiagnosis!” Su Jinhui grew more intense.

She wasn’t concerned about anything else—she was simply distressed over the wasted treatment time for the patient.

Even though it had only been a month, a severe condition could cost the patient their life in that time!

Chen Jun clenched his teeth, his face serious. “How certain are you?”

“One hundred percent!” Su Jinhui’s gaze was unwavering, firm as stone.

At that moment, Chen Jun felt a knot of anxiety. Challenging this would be like slapping Dr. Luo’s face. Luo was about to be promoted to director—it was a critical time!

Perhaps sensing Chen Jun’s hesitation, Su Jinhui spoke up, “Dr. Chen, this is a human life! If we choose to stand by now, both of us would be guilty!”

She wasn’t trying to morally coerce him, but they both knew how crucial time was for the patient.

“I’ll contact the patient. You just focus on saving them. I’ll explain everything to Dr. Luo,” Chen Jun said, steeling his resolve.

After all, a life was at stake, and it truly was Dr. Luo’s mistake—he should take responsibility.

After lunch, Chen Jun took an apple from the table and went to Dr. Luo Ping’s office.

“Xiao Chen, you have so many patients—what brings you here?” Luo Ping stood up with a bright smile to greet him.

Chen Jun forced a smile. “I have something to discuss with you. Try this apple—just arrived from home.”

“Wow, so red and big! These look excellent,” Luo Ping said, taking the apple. “Well, what is it? Just speak.”

He no longer held back and pulled out the medical record, placing it in front of Luo Ping. “Do you remember this patient?”

Luo Ping examined it carefully. “Of course, I remember. This is my patient, Chen Ke. She was rolling on the floor in pain—very severe!”

He suddenly stopped mid-sentence, looking puzzled. “Why are you asking about my patient all of a sudden? And this… this is my record, isn’t it?”

“It’s yours, but you may have misdiagnosed her. Chen Ke’s condition isn’t gastritis—it’s stomach cancer!” Chen Jun blurted out bluntly.

Luo Ping slammed the file onto the desk in anger. “Nonsense! How could I, who personally treated her, make a mistake? What evidence do you have? Why are you digging into my old cases? Are you trying to sabotage me?”

There were rumors in the hospital, but in terms of medical skill, Luo Ping was no match for Chen Jun, and in many ways, his thinking was outdated.

If it weren’t for his age and seniority, the director’s position should have gone to Chen Jun.

The hospital was small, and even if Luo Ping didn’t want to hear it, word-of-mouth eventually reached him.

Over time, his years of genuine effort were overshadowed, making him seem like someone relying on seniority.

He already had a simmering anger, but out of respect for Chen Jun’s honesty and regard for him, he suppressed it.

Now, it seemed Chen Jun wasn’t as harmless as he appeared—he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, searching for a mistake to bring him down. A cunning plan indeed!

“It’s not… Dr. Luo, you’ve misunderstood,” Chen Jun hurried to explain, but was interrupted.

Luo Ping snorted coldly. “The younger generation is pushing the old—what deep schemes you have! I really underestimated you.”

“My intention was simply to let Comrade Su Jinhui learn the proper format for case studies and gain experience from others’ records. I not only gave her yours but also selected a couple from nearly every doctor. I truly have no other motives!” Chen Jun felt like he was trying to clear his name in a river of mud, but still pressed on with the explanation.

Luo Ping’s tone hardened. “Are you saying Su Jinhui told you that I misdiagnosed?”

“She meant well. Besides, we cannot take risks with our patients…”

Before Chen Jun could finish, Luo Ping tossed the apple into the trash and stormed out with the medical record, heading straight for Su Jinhui’s consultation room.

The door slammed loudly, his face dark as iron, drawing everyone’s attention.

When people saw him heading straight for Su Jinhui, their curiosity spiked, and they crowded closer to witness what would happen.

Luo Ping barged in, slamming the files onto her desk. “Did you say it was a misdiagnosis?”

The door wasn’t fully closed, so his voice carried down the hallway.

Everyone widened their eyes, staring at each other in silence, afraid to miss a moment of the spectacle.

Su Jinhui calmly got up and poured him a glass of water. “Yes, this diagnosis does have problems.”

“You little girl, you have some nerve! I’ve treated more patients than you’ve eaten grains of salt. And you, a young girl, are so confident that you’re never wrong?” Luo Ping’s face turned red with fury, his mustache trembling.

Su Jinhui set the cup on the desk and pointed out multiple symptoms recorded in the case. “These symptoms together indicate early-stage stomach cancer. I am one hundred percent certain—the patient does not have gastritis.”

“You! Who sent you to oppose me? You’re clearly trying to sabotage me!” Luo Ping gritted his teeth, glaring as if he wanted to devour her with his eyes.
