Inside the conference room of the Dragon's Head HQ building, all the elders along with Carlos were seated in silence. They all seemed tense as if they had done something wrong and were awaiting punishment.

"So he's really coming, huh?" Alex said. His voice tensed.

"His son was killed, of course he will make an appearance." Rachel Patel response was firm.Full novel: A Revenant's Wrath — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"He will be here any moment, we must let him know it wasn't our fault." Carlos spoke. Just then, the conference door opened, and a middle-aged man dressed in an immaculate white Italian suit walked in. His burly frame didn't match his age at all. He looked more like a trained bouncer than a Mafia Lord.

Carlos and the elders stood up from their seats and performed a slight bow, "We greet the godfather."

Trejo Santiago, a man of few words. He was the one who took in Damon and Carlos when they left the orphanage and offered them a place in his gang.. he linked them to the sponsors who later became known as the Dragon's Head Elders.. to sum it up, he was the true behemoth behind Dragon's Head Mafia group.. and his son Vladimir had just been killed while working for Carlos.

Trejo walked towards a seat reserved for him. Everyone only sat after he did. He said nothing for a few seconds, and no one had the courage to break the awkward silence.

"So tell me again, how did my niñito (spanish for little boy) die." His spoke. His tone was calm, but still carried the subtle weight of imminent threat in it.

"H-he was killed by the Fletchers group. I sent Vladimir as an envoy to contact the rising upstart who calls himself 'Revenant', but it seemed Vladimir was intercepted by the Fletchers and they saw his presence as a provocation, they sent us his head and written note, warning us to steer clear of Belmont City." Carlos spoke. His entire body was shivering from fright.

"The Fletchers is backed by old man Sawyer. It is common knowledge that Sawyer and I have been at each other's throats for years now, but the dispute was only between us, we made a rule not to involve our families into it.. but it seems that rule is no longer in effect." Trejo said, his fingers drumming on the table. He then turned to Carlos, "I want you to mobilize whatever forces you have, storm Belmont City and eliminate the Fletchers. Don't worry about Sawyer, I will be paying him a visit." Trejo spoke with authority.

"Consider them wiped out, godfather." Carlos said. His hands were clenched into fists. He was eager to redeem himself in the eyes of the godfather. Losing the backing of Trejo Santiago will prove disastrous for the Dragon's Head. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping(.)com.

"And to the rest of you, I want you to reach out to your allies, form up and attack Sawyer's other resources. That is not a request." Trejo spoke in a tune that left no room for arguments. He could see the unwillingness in the eyes of the men and women seated around him. He couldn't blame them, Franklin Sawyer isn't just a random Boss, he's as powerful as any of the top powerhouse families in New Haven.. but right now, Trejo didn't care what these people think, he will get his revenge.

"Lord Revenant, you asked for me." Cortez spoke in subservient tone as soon as he walked into Damon's office. Ever since he witnessed the otherworldly power Damon had wielded, genuine fear had taken deep root in his heart.

"Yes, I did. Is there a way to contact the Fletchers group?" Damon asked. A new plan had already formed in his mind.

"Yes my lord. Even though their main headquarters is far from the city's border, the lesser gangs in other districts do pay homage to them. What do you need the Fletchers group for?" Cortez replied.

"I have a plan. I want you to spread the word unanimously through the smaller gangs, let it be known that the Dragon's Head Mafia group of New Haven wants to take over Belmont City, and for that, they are coming to Belmont to destroy the Fletchers group." Damon said.

"That will create chaos and cause the Fletchers to mobilize their group, and also fight against anyone who comes through the border." Cortez said with wide eyes.

"Exactly, and once the Fletchers see the mobilized army of the Dragon's Head group, they will open fire without asking questions.."

"And the Dragon's Head will retaliate. They will fight against each other without even knowing the true cause of the conflict." Cortez finished up the sentence.

"You read my mind. Now, off you go. Make sure none of it is traced back to us." Damon said and waved his hand, Cortez bowed and left.

24 HOURS LATER

In the outskirts of Belmont City, a manor stood majestically. This was the only manor in Belmont City, and it was owned by the Fletchers group. At this moment, a group of armed men were walking into this very manor. They went through several hallways before stopping in front of a room.. knocking, a voice told them to come in. "Boss Fletcher." One of the armed men said as soon as he walked into the room. In front of him was a big bellied fat man with a cigar on his lips.

"Boss Fletcher, we bring grave news from one of our vassals." The man said.

"And what is this grave news?" Fletcher asked.

"We got news that a Mafia group from New Haven is mobilizing to take us out and occupy our territory." The man replied.

Fletcher creased his brows and stubbed out his cigar. "Which Mafia group is it?"

"The Dragon's Head group. They are already on their way here." The man replied.

"Trejo Santiago's chess pawns? It seems Trejo is making a move on us. We will not lose and shame our Boss Sawyer." Fletcher muttered, but then a smile played on his face.

"They don't know we have this information now. I want you to mobilize all the lesser gangs affiliated with us, place them at the border and tell them to eliminate any threats coming from the outside." Fletcher said.

"Yes Boss." The man spoke and left. Fletcher was left alone in the room, he couldn't help but contemplate as to why Trejo will send his pawns to battle at this time, the next territorial battle is two months away.. but then he seemed to have realized something and smiled, "Sneaky bastard, you want to take us by surprise. We will totally annihilate your pawns this time. Dragon's Head Mafia group will disappear soon."
