Gu Shengsheng took out several fresh eggs. She cracked one single-handed against the bowl rim, lifted her wrist high, and let the bright orange yolk wrapped in cloudy transparent white fall into the glass bowl. Five eggs in a row—smooth and effortless.

【Sand Sculpture Laughs Loudly: Wait—you guys didn’t notice? The host uses Evian mineral water for cooking. That stuff costs dozens of yuan a bottle in import supermarkets!】

【Jiang Ru Yun: New here upstairs? The little fairy is super rich】

Amid the half-joking comments, Gu Shengsheng’s “rich girl” persona was once again firmly established. She thought about it and didn’t bother denying it. After all, she now had someone who’d sent her a million in gifts—she really was very rich.

Gu Shengsheng lowered her eyes and focused on making tamagoyaki. She beat the eggs with a pinch of salt, sugar, and milk, using just the right technique: “You can’t let bubbles form in the egg mixture, or the tamagoyaki won’t be tender.”

She lightly oiled the pan and slowly poured in half the egg mixture, waiting for it to set. She watched the heat carefully. Each time the layer solidified, she used a wooden spatula to roll it up, then poured in more mixture. For the final layer, she arranged thin slices of cucumber along the bottom.

A comment reminded her:

【Hua Sui Shiyi: Tamagoyaki should be rectangular, big sis—you’re using a round pan!】

“Ah, thanks for the reminder! I almost made it round.” Gu Shengsheng said in surprise.

Then, slowly and carefully, she used the spatula to shape and guide the egg mixture. When she finally plated it, the tamagoyaki was golden, trembling slightly, and—miraculously—a perfect rectangle.

Gu Shengsheng took a long knife and neatly sliced the hot tamagoyaki into pieces. Each golden block had a tender green cucumber slice embedded on the surface—like spring迎春花 (winter jasmine) blossoms, beautiful and appetizing.

【Don’t Startle the Birds: Who can explain how the host just did that? The tamagoyaki suddenly turned rectangular!】

【Yun Xian Zhi: This tamagoyaki is too gorgeous. I feel like I’ve learned it!】

【Grapes Are a Bit Sweet: Upstairs is overconfident. Speaking from experience: big sis’s skills are deceptive. You’ll understand how hard it is when you try yourself】

“Ding—” The oven timer chimed. Gu Shengsheng put on gloves and took out a bowl. “This is oil-poached tuna. There was too much seafood today, so I preserved some as oil-poached tuna. Tomorrow I’ll use it for onigiri.”

【System Notification: S sent 1000 fireworks to “Wangzai Won’t Listen”】

!!!!!!!!

This time, even Swan Live’s upper management was alarmed. Swan was the hottest streaming platform in the country—they’d seen every kind of whale fan, but never anyone who sent 1000 fireworks in a row. 1000 fireworks = 1 million yuan! That was more than Swan’s entire monthly donation revenue!

Swan Live’s technical team worked frantically to keep the servers stable while tracing the ID “S.” It was a brand-new account that followed only one live room: “Wangzai Won’t Listen.” Combined with the fact that Wangzai’s room had already received over 2.5 million in gifts since bursting onto the scene, Swan’s upper management issued an order: Protect this golden daddy at all costs!

Immediately, Swan’s tech team launched a massive crackdown, banning every alt account causing trouble in “Wangzai Won’t Listen.”

This action only fueled the rumors outside: “Wangzai Won’t Listen” must be a mysterious rich heiress playing around—possibly the daughter or mistress of one of Swan’s major shareholders!

The wilder the speculation grew, the quieter Gu Shengsheng’s live room became. After all, no one wanted to openly challenge the official platform—who knew what kind of penalties might follow?

Gu Shengsheng went offline and went to have dinner with Shen Wang. She had wanted to thank that “S” person and tell him not to send so many gifts anymore. Unfortunately, the flood of curious viewers had crashed her connection…

Dinner was set on the front porch. The sunset was gentle, the evening breeze soft. The two sat at a small wooden table on the porch with sushi, sashimi, tamagoyaki, and a steaming pot of genmaicha—truly a scene even immortals would envy.

Shen Wang wasn’t wearing eye bandages today. He wore a white shirt and a gray-blue cashmere cardigan, sleeves rolled up to reveal slender wrist bones. His usual sharp coldness was softened, giving him an air of refined elegance.

He picked up a piece of sushi dipped in wasabi soy sauce, placed it in his mouth, and chewed slowly. A faint, hard-to-notice trace of pleasure appeared between his brows.

Gu Shengsheng stared at his now slightly reddened lips and asked suspiciously, “Doesn’t the wasabi burn?”

Shen Wang swallowed and replied casually, “You can try it.”

Gu Shengsheng half-believed him. She picked up an avocado sushi, dipped it lightly, and put it in her mouth. The distinctive sharp, spicy taste of wasabi filled her mouth—tingling, stimulating, refreshing—but not as overwhelming as she’d feared.

Gu Shengsheng brightened, opened her mouth to report this new discovery—and accidentally inhaled sharply.

In an instant, it felt like someone had punched her straight in the nose. The piercing, choking burn shot straight to the top of her head: “…!!!”

Gu Shengsheng let out a silent ground-squirrel scream: “Ah… ah… aaaaaah!”

She couldn’t make any real sound anymore. Gasping, she waved her hands wildly and tugged frantically at Shen Wang’s sleeve.

Shen Wang frowned. “Eat properly. Stop acting spoiled.”

Gu Shengsheng shook her head like a rattle, tears and snot streaming down her face as she desperately yanked his sleeve.

Shen Wang finally noticed her voice was off. He touched her face—wet all over. His brow jumped. “Stupid thing, close your mouth!”

Gu Shengsheng was choking so badly her head was spinning. Hearing this only made her feel more wronged; she sobbed harder. Shen Wang cupped her chin, slipped his fingers into her mouth to try to scoop out the sushi.

But she had already spat it out long ago. His fingers only found her soft little tongue. Wet saliva dripped along his knuckles. Gu Shengsheng, like a tantruming milk kitten, bit down hard on his finger.

Shen Wang’s temple vein throbbed violently—he almost wanted to fling her away. Instead, he scooped her up horizontally onto his lap, pinched her cheeks to force her mouth open, pulled his finger out, then clamped her mouth shut again. “Don’t open your mouth. Breathe through your nose!”

Gu Shengsheng felt like Shen Wang was trying to kill her. But she couldn’t overpower him. Whimpering, she let him hold her mouth closed and breathed only through her nose. Slowly, the deadly choking burn began to ease.

Gu Shengsheng, having survived the ordeal, slid off his lap. She looked at him with both awe and amazement. “It’s really gone… Shen Wang, you know so much!”

Shen Wang raised his damp, slender finger and said slowly, word by word: “If there’s a next time, you…”

“There won’t be! There won’t be!” Gu Shengsheng was very quick to agree. She hurried to fetch a wet towel and carefully wiped his hand.

Shen Wang’s fingers were long and jade-like, with thin calluses on the pads—beautiful yet strong. Right now, a small, deep-red tooth mark decorated his index finger like a tiny ring.

Gu Shengsheng felt guilty and sneaked a glance at him. Shen Wang’s expression was calm—no visible anger. Once his hand was clean, he picked up his chopsticks again. “Arctic clam.”

“Okay, here’s the prettiest piece for you.” Gu Shengsheng, feeling guilty, was extra attentive and considerate as she served him.

The fish was tender and fatty. Gu Shengsheng only ate a few pieces before feeling full. Shen Wang, however, had an excellent appetite—he polished off the entire table of sashimi.

After dinner, Gu Shengsheng pushed Shen Wang’s wheelchair around the courtyard to help with digestion. She couldn’t help saying, “You really love seafood, huh? Are you a cat in disguise?”

Shen Wang reminded her: “There’s no cat in the Chinese zodiac.”

Gu Shengsheng sighed inwardly. Shen Wang was so boring—he couldn’t even appreciate her little joke.

Five minutes later, Shen Wang’s face turned green. “Why are you going around in circles?!”

Gu Shengsheng said innocently, “I’m pushing you for a walk.”

The courtyard was mostly grass, with only a small paved area in front suitable for the wheelchair. Gu Shengsheng had no choice but to go back and forth.

Shen Wang was about to get motion sick. Unable to endure any longer, he said, “Let’s go outside for a walk.”

The Shen family villa sat halfway up the mountain. Just outside the gate was a gentle, wide mountain ring road. Flame trees towered along the roadside; when the wind blew, their fiery phoenix flowers drifted down, mingling beautifully with the colorful roadside poppies.

Looking up, you could see golden beaches and dark reefs. Farther out, the sea and sky blended into one, opening up the heart and mind.

Right now, a salted-egg-yolk sun was slowly sinking below the horizon.

Gu Shengsheng pushed Shen Wang to the roadside lookout—a low half-person-high railing formed a scenic platform. Not far away was a long flight of steps leading down to the beach. Gu Shengsheng stared longingly at the soft sand, wondering how it would feel underfoot.

Unfortunately, Shen Wang’s wheelchair definitely couldn’t go down. She parked him by the railing. The bodyguards following at a distance immediately tensed, muscles rigid, watching her every move.

Gu Shengsheng was completely unaware. Shen Wang showed no sign of worrying that he might be pushed over the edge at any second. He sat quietly, enjoying the sea breeze on his face.

Gu Shengsheng exclaimed in wonder: “This is the sea… it’s so majestic!”

In her previous life, the Gu family lived in the Jiangnan region—how could she ever have seen such a vast, surging sea? She had only heard about the ocean from pearl merchants who passed through selling their wares.

Gu Shengsheng was overjoyed. She asked the same question over and over until Shen Wang finally said impatiently, “Yes.”

Her eyes sparkled with excitement. “Then can we go down to catch crabs and collect shells?”

“…I don’t know.”

Gu Shengsheng looked disappointed. “Don’t you live here? How can you not know something like that?”

Shen Wang’s lips curved in a cool, mocking smile. “I only know other things. For example—”

His voice was low and magnetic, carrying a seductive hook. Even though she knew it was a trap, Gu Shengsheng couldn’t resist her curiosity. She leaned in eagerly. “For example what?”

In an instant, a large hand clamped around the back of her slender neck. His palm was warm with faint calluses, his fingers strong and controlled as they slowly kneaded. “For example… how to tie someone to a rock and sink them into the sea.”

A chill ran from Gu Shengsheng’s head straight to her toes. Trembling, she whimpered, “The seaside has big waves and lots of sharp rocks… I don’t like going out at all. Let’s never go to the beach again, okay?”

Even though she said that, she still loved the sea. Gu Shengsheng picked a few perfect, beautiful flame tree blossoms and a single bright red poppy, then quietly tucked the poppy behind Shen Wang’s ear.

Shen Wang had no idea. He sat coldly and elegantly in the wheelchair. The vivid red poppy against his pale face and faint scars looked like blood-splattered pear blossoms—gorgeous yet menacing.

Gu Shengsheng studied him for a moment, then couldn’t resist pulling out her phone and secretly snapping a photo.

Click. The loud shutter sound and flash startled her so badly she nearly dropped the phone.

Shen Wang frowned slightly. “What?”

“N-nothing! Just taking a selfie.” Gu Shengsheng’s heart pounded. She clutched the phone to her chest.

Fortunately, Shen Wang didn’t press further. “Let’s go back.”

“Okay. Are we still watching movies tonight? Era X has four parts!”

“Don’t go back. Stay here.”

…

The sun had already sunk into the sea, leaving only a thin strip of orange floating on the horizon. The sea breeze grew cooler. Before the sky turned completely dark, Gu Shengsheng pushed Shen Wang home.
