“She’s plagued us all for so many years—should’ve died ages ago! This calls for universal celebration!”

“Everyone come to my place tomorrow! I’ll prepare fine wine and delicacies for us to revel together!”

“How can we let you host alone? Let’s take turns feasting for three to five months!”

“Um…” Yun Sangsang leaned against the cave wall, expressionless, clutching her gushing wound.

She knew she wasn’t well-liked, but realizing they detested her to this extent still stung.

Seeing them dancing in celebration while preparing to return, the severely injured Yun Sangsang could only murmur, “Could you delay your festivities? I might still be salvageable, really.”

“Uh…” The eleven jubilant figures froze at the unexpected voice, whipping around to stare at her.

Eleven pairs of shocked eyes met Yun Sangsang’s calm gaze, the silence thick with awkwardness.

The eleven stood rigid, faces flushed crimson, limbs stiff with embarrassment.

Damn it! Why wasn’t this Broom Star dead yet?

Had she heard all their gleeful celebrations?

So awkward! How could she still be alive? How was she so tenacious!

Yun Sangsang eyed her paralyzed companions. “A little help?”

She drawled, “We undertook this mission together. You all feared death, so you tricked me—the unluckiest Broom Star—into drawing lots. The one who picked ‘death’ would go. Of course, I drew the short straw. I nearly died for you, and now that I’m gravely wounded, you’d abandon me?”

The eleven hastily denied this, shuffling over like marionettes. They frantically produced Immortal Elixirs and ointments, shoving them into her hands.

After consuming the elixir and healing her wounds, Yun Sangsang prepared to return with them when someone’s Message Talisman chimed.

All eyes snapped toward the male celestial.

He clutched the talisman, avoiding eye contact, but Yun Sangsang caught him sneaking guilty glances at her.

Meeting her gaze, he flinched and ducked his head.

Yun Sangsang narrowed her eyes, chuckling softly. “This concerns me, doesn’t it? Did you already rush to spread news of my death across the Celestial Realm? Let me hear their response.”

Flushing scarlet with shame, the man scratched his head under Yun Sangsang’s steady gaze and reluctantly activated the talisman.

A booming voice erupted instantly—

“Hong’er! You said the Broom Star died? Truly? Did you see the corpse? Oh, splendid! Hurry back! We’ve prepared a banquet in the Ninth Heaven! All celestials are gathered here rejoicing at this wonderful news—we’re waiting for you!

Oh, and everyone asked me to warn you: come back alone. Don’t bring that Broom Star’s corpse with you. She’s dripping with Misfortune—any contact spells doom. Whatever you do, don’t bring her back to ruin our celebration!””Uh…” Hearing his father’s joyful message, the male immortal stole a glance at Yun Sangsang, covering the Message Talisman in embarrassment, wishing he could vanish into thin air.

The other ten immortals were equally mortified, lowering their heads as if trying to dig holes with their toes. Oh no, oh no—after such a colossal blunder, how could they ever face the other immortals in the Celestial Realm again?

Meanwhile, Yun Sangsang, who should have been the most embarrassed of all, remained remarkably calm in comparison.

She glanced at the Message Talisman, imagining the Celestial Realm at that very moment adorned with lanterns and festive music, celebrating the death of her, the Broom Star. Suddenly, her heart grew cold, and everything felt utterly meaningless.

Though she was a despised Broom Star, she had never harbored ill will toward anyone in her thousand years of existence. Why did everyone despise her to such an extent?

Did she choose to be a Broom Star?

If she could have been a little lucky star brimming with blessings, she wouldn’t have wanted to be a Broom Star either.

She let out a light, mocking laugh. “It seems I’m the one who doesn’t know how to read the room. Should I go and die, just to liven things up for everyone?”

With that, she pulled out the treasure she had nearly died to obtain for this mission from her waist and tossed it toward the eleven immortals. “Go back to the Celestial Realm and report your success. I won’t return to spoil everyone’s fun.”

She turned and walked away.

The eleven immortals stared at her retreating figure, momentarily stunned, then spoke in unison: “Lord Broom Star, where are you going?”

Yun Sangsang replied lazily, “To die.”

She glanced back at them with a weary smile, then her form shimmered and transformed into a streak of light, vanishing completely.

…

Of course, she had no intention of actually dying. Yun Sangsang cherished her life above all else.

She simply didn’t want to return to the Celestial Realm and face those beaming, joyful expressions, nor did she want to see the awkward disappointment on their faces when they realized she wasn’t dead.

It chilled her to the bone.

Better to find a destined mortal in the human realm to worship her, experience the genuine kindness and beauty of humanity, and lift her spirits before returning to the Celestial Realm.

But…

After wandering the human realm for over ten days, she hadn’t encountered any true affection or love at all!

Reality, for this Broom Star, remained nothing but heartbreak, heartbreak, and endless heartbreak!

“That was already the eighth destined mortal who cried, begged, and knelt, pleading for me to leave their home and spare their life, wasn’t it?”

Yun Sangsang lay on a towering ancient tree deep in the mountains, murmuring gloomily to the Immortal Pet Parrot perched on her shoulder.

The Parrot looked at her sympathetically. “Master, you either caused them to break a leg or crack their head open. How could they not beg you to leave? If they weren’t afraid of your retaliation, they’d probably chase you out with a broom…”

Yun Sangsang shot a chilly glance at the Parrot. Did it have to spell things out so bluntly?

The Parrot wisely changed its tone. “Of course, it’s not your fault. It’s just that mere mortals can’t withstand the Misfortune of a noble Broom Star like you. Maybe we should return to the Celestial Realm? The gods there have profound magic; only they can endure your Misfortune…”

Yun Sangsang sneered. “No, I’m not going back. I refuse to believe I can’t find a single little darling in the human realm willing to worship me! Let’s keep trying. As long as I’m alive, I can still make it happen!”

Just as she finished speaking to the Parrot, Yun Sangsang’s expression shifted.

Why did she suddenly feel a sense of danger?

As if…

She abruptly looked up at the sky. The clear blue had turned dark, with thick clouds gathering in the blink of an eye. A moment later, a purple thunderbolt as thick as a barrel crashed down with a deafening roar!

No way?

Did they really want her dead? Was she, the Broom Star, truly unworthy of having a little darling to worship her? She refused to believe it—she was determined to find one no matter what!

She rose to her feet with an imposing aura, raising her hand and merging her fingers into countless sword energies that shot straight toward the thunderbolts!

The purple thunderbolts clashed with her sword energies, scattering the myriad sword energies while the thunderbolts themselves lost their power!

The next moment, the dark clouds dispersed, and clear skies reappeared.

“Master, are you alright?” The parrot looked at Yun Sangsang with concern. “Your Immortal Power was already down to sixty percent before, and that last strike consumed a lot. I’m afraid you have less than thirty percent left now, right? We need to find someone destined to worship you quickly, or else when your Immortal Power runs out, you’ll kick the bucket!”

Yun Sangsang glanced under the large tree, a faint smile curling her thin lips. “No need to look elsewhere. There’s a little darling right under this tree, practically a match made by the Heavenly Dao for me. Let’s go fool him into worshipping me!”

…

Under the towering tree.

After turning against all his followers and wreaking havoc in the demon realm, the Demon Realm Sovereign Yuan Ning Wang descended gracefully into this remote mountain in the human realm, clutching his Demon Sword and draped in blood-soaked robes.

He intended to lay low in the human realm and had just found a recently deceased child’s body to possess.

Unexpectedly, the Heavenly Dao detected him and sent down massive thunderbolts to destroy this physical vessel. Just as he was about to resist despite his injuries, someone atop the tree canopy intercepted the Thunder Tribulation for him, allowing him to successfully possess the body without lifting a finger.

He was somewhat surprised. Who would be so kind as to block the Thunder Tribulation for him? As a Demon Lord despised by the Heavenly Dao, he actually encountered such good fortune?

He scanned upward with his Divine Sense and nearly laughed aloud.

It was actually a Broom Star?

And she even failed to recognize him as the Demon Lord, calling him a little darling instead?

He couldn’t help but curl his lips slightly, murmuring to himself in a deep voice: “Little darling? A match made by the Heavenly Dao? Hah, where am I cute compared to you? You’re the cutest one—naively, adorably foolish. And you dare to have the audacity to deceive me into worshipping you? Have you grown tired of this mortal world, rushing headlong to your death, hmm?”

…

Yun Sangsang had no idea what kind of existence she was about to provoke.

She landed gracefully on the ground.

Looking at Yuan Ning Wang who now inhabited an eight-year-old child’s body, she transmitted her thoughts to the parrot: “See that? This child is covered in dark energy—must be the reincarnation of someone despised by the Heavenly Dao. That thunder earlier was meant to strike him. I intercepted his Thunder Tribulation.”

The parrot fully agreed: “Exactly! Although you’re a bit unlucky as a Broom Star, Master, your daily misfortunes usually only involved stepping in dog poop or tripping, with the worst being a sprained leg—you’ve never been struck by lightning before! That thunder was definitely meant for him. He owes you a debt of gratitude and should worship you!”

Yun Sangsang stopped communicating with the parrot. Smiling brightly at the eight-year-old child before her, she said: “Kid, did you hear the thunder and lightning earlier? Those thunderbolts were meant to strike you. This celestial maiden sister blocked them for you. How are you going to thank me?”

A glint of amusement flashed in the eyes of the child-form Yuan Ning Wang.

Tsk, failing to recognize a Demon Lord—what a waste of those pretty eyes.

He looked up at Yun Sangsang, feigning confusion: “What thunderbolts? I was sleeping—didn’t see or hear anything. Where were there thunderbolts?”

Before Yun Sangsang could respond, he continued: “Besides, I’m a good person. Why would thunderbolts strike me? Don’t thunderbolts only strike bad people? Do I look like a bad person to you?”

Yun Sangsang raised an eyebrow.Thinking to herself, tsk tsk, such a loud thunderclap and he didn’t hear it? Impossible—even a dead pig would’ve been jolted awake by that!

It seemed this kid was deliberately playing dumb with her, unwilling to acknowledge the favor she’d done him. What a sly little fox!

Fine, then she’d just have to find another way to coax him.
