After dinner, it was still early, only a little past 8 p.m.
No one wanted to leave.
Someone suggested going to a KTV to sing, and the idea was quickly approved by everyone.
Especially the boys who had a crush on Jiang Wanrou. They howled excitedly. They could spend a little more time with Campus Belle Jiang.
At this moment, the redness on the boys’ faces said it all.
Fang Yan stood up from his seat, drunk and swaying. One look was enough to know he had had too much.
Just as he was about to fall, Wang Ziyu quickly caught him. “Yan, be careful. How about I take you home first?”
Fang Yan widened his eyes and looked at Wang Ziyu, then grinned foolishly. “Wang Zi, you’re quite a beauty too, but every time I remember you’ve got a Barrett, it makes me uncomfortable.”
“You…” Wang Ziyu rolled his eyes at him with exaggerated charm. For a moment, there was a trace of a girl’s shadow in this boy.
“It’s getting hot in here, hehe.” Fang Yan reeked of alcohol as he threw an arm around Wang Ziyu’s shoulder. “Wang Zi, when was your last kiss?”
“Last month, I think.”
“With a guy or a girl?”
Wang Ziyu’s lips parted slightly. His expression froze in a shy, flustered way. “Hehe.”
“Come on, Wang Zi, let’s go sing.”
Wang Ziyu stood there shyly while Fang Yan walked ahead.
Tao Yingying, the girl who had just transferred him money, seized the opportunity and stepped forward, hooking her arm around his. “Fang Yan, I’ll hold you. Walk slowly.”
The girls behind them saw this scene.
“How shameless. He just got rejected by Wanwan and immediately found another girl.”
“Exactly. Good thing Wanwan didn’t agree to him. With his flirtatious nature, who knows if he’d cheat on her in the future.”
“I think you’re overthinking it. Wanwan is so outstanding. Why would she like someone like Fang Yan?”
That statement received agreement from many girls.
In everyone’s mind, Jiang Wanrou was untouchable, like a shining star in the sky, dazzling yet distant.
Jiang Wanrou did not join their conversation. Her cold, breathtaking face showed no expression as she walked forward quietly.
She wore a light white dress. Her skin, like fine white jade, glowed softly under the dim light. Her chestnut-brown hair flowed over her shoulders, and every step she took was elegant.
The surrounding girls seemed frozen in place. Their eyes followed her, filled with admiration and envy.
“Wanwan looks even prettier with her hair down than tied up.”
“Yeah. If the boys from No.1 High saw her like this, she’d be the white moonlight of countless boys’ youth.”
Sparse stars and a faint moon hung in the sky. Thin clouds drifted gently.
A quiet, subtle sense of farewell filled the air.
Everyone knew that after this gathering, chances to meet again might become rare.
At the hotel entrance, people began calling cars.
Fang Yan was still leaning against the wall, vomiting. Tao Yingying gently patted his back, secretly delighted. The boy she had long dreamed of was finally within her reach.
After he finished vomiting, Fang Yan came to his senses and pushed Tao Yingying away with visible disgust.
Her expression stiffened immediately.
Wang Ziyu walked over lightly, almost like an elegant young girl. “Yan, I’ve called the car.”
“Alright.”
Fang Yan put an arm around Wang Ziyu’s shoulder. Wang Ziyu’s every smile and frown carried a perfectly timed hint of shyness.
This brother was irresistible.
Tao Yingying felt inferior. Wang Ziyu looked even more delicate than she did.
They stood quietly waiting for the car.
Tao Yingying kept stealing glances at Fang Yan.
“Stop staring at me.”
“I just did!”
She used her usual trick of seducing wealthy boys, her gaze soft and dreamy. She stepped forward, trying to link arms with Fang Yan, but he easily dodged her.
She felt regret in her heart but still pretended to look shy. “Fang Yan, are you shy too? Your face is so red. It’s kind of cute.”
“Idiot. I drank too much.”
The surrounding classmates burst into laughter.
“Pfft…”
“Hahahahaha.”
Even with thick skin, Tao Yingying could not stay after being laughed at by so many people. She retreated back to the girls.
Jiang Wanrou had a private driver. Soon, a two-tone Maybach stopped in front of her.
The driver, dressed in a suit and white gloves, got out and respectfully opened the rear door for her. Jiang Wanrou invited a few girls she was close with to get in.
Amid envious gazes, the Maybach roared to life with its V12 engine and sped away.
Cars ordered by others arrived one after another, and they left for the KTV.
Wang Ziyu’s car arrived too. He originally wanted Fang Yan to ride with him, but some stingy boys who did not want to spend money invited him to share a ride.
Other boys, drawn by his looks, dragged him away.
Fang Yan was left sitting alone on the hotel steps.
Ten minutes later, he took out his phone. Messages in the class group chat kept popping up.
[Is everyone here yet? We’ll go in once everyone arrives!]
[Tonight I’ll sing my heart out. Let you all admire my voice!]
[Are you crazy? With that voice of yours, don’t embarrass yourself.]
[Stop chatting. Gather at the front desk.]
Wang Ziyu tagged Fang Yan.
[Yan, are you in the car yet?]
[I’m still sitting in front of the hotel. Looks like I can’t sing with you guys.]
[What? Sitting there alone? Don’t tell me you’re secretly sad.]
[I don’t have money for a ride!]
…
Fang Yan put his phone back into his pocket and leaned back slightly, admiring the night view.
A breeze brushed past him. Combined with the honey water Jiang Wanrou had given him, he was mostly sober now.
As for his money, he had just spent it all in the group chat red envelope game.
He regretted it deeply. Drinking really led to trouble.
Looks like I’ll have to shamelessly ask Mom for some financial support.
Just as he took out his phone, a two-tone Maybach stopped in front of him.
It looked very familiar, almost identical to the one Jiang Wanrou had just taken.
The driver stepped out from the front seat and said with a smile, “Young man, get in.”
“Huh?”
Seeing his confusion, the driver explained, “Miss Jiang asked me to come.”
At that, Fang Yan understood. Jiang Wanrou had sent the driver back for him.
She still had some classmate affection after all. Not as heartless as she seemed.
It was not in vain that they had been classmates from middle school to high school. Six years of friendship.
Fang Yan gladly got into the car. It was his first time riding in such a luxurious vehicle. The comfort and spaciousness were indulgent.
So this was Jiang Wanrou’s daily life?
He thought of his family’s old domestic car, cramped and roaring like a tractor every time the engine started.
But Fang Yan did not dislike it.
That car had shielded his family from wind and rain since middle school and carried him to school every day.
His dream was simple: earn money, let his father stand tall with pride, and turn off his mother’s 6 a.m. alarm.
Lost in thought, they soon arrived.
The driver gently called out, “Young man, we’re here.”
“Alright, thank you. I appreciate it.”
Fang Yan greeted him, got out, and softly closed the door.
The driver slowly drove the Maybach toward the underground parking lot, a faint smile spreading across his face.
“Miss doesn’t like talking and usually avoids interacting with people.”
“I never expected that one day she would invite a classmate into her car.”
“And if I’m not mistaken… this might be the first time Miss has ever taken the initiative to approach a boy.”
Fang Yan let out a drunken hiccup. As he passed the parking spaces in front of the KTV, he noticed a blue BMW convertible coupe.
It was trying to reverse into a parking spot but failed repeatedly.
The driver was a petite girl with milk-tea-colored hair and a stunningly beautiful face, no less striking than Jiang Wanrou’s.
She looked flustered, unable to park properly.
Fang Yan laughed silently. Even without a sound, she seemed to sense it.
She stuck her head out. “Are you stupid, you jerk!”
The moment she spoke, she was indirectly praising his good looks.
Another beauty defeated by his appearance.
Fang Yan smiled and turned to leave.
Bang!
He looked back. The BMW had crashed directly into the wall.
The girl got out of the car. Her delicate features carried an innate arrogance. Her milk-tea-colored hair flowed in the wind.
She looked slightly embarrassed but crossed her arms arrogantly.
“You, can you help me park the car?”
