On the way down the mountain, Zhou Hua was still basking in the relief of having survived the trouble. But when they reached the courtyard and saw Wen Yifan busy inside, his excitement immediately deflated.

Although he carried a basket of fruit, he felt a bit embarrassed—after all, he had caused her quite a serious injury.

Qin Yunan was speechless and about to say something when he caught a glimpse of Wen Yifan climbing to hang something high up in the courtyard. He rushed forward and steadied her.Full novel: After Abandoning Her Husband and Son, the Old Lady Takes Her Daughter to a Life of Luxury and Marries a Military Officer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Yifan clutched her chest, genuinely scared as she nearly fell.

“Sorry for the spectacle, comrades… you sit, I’ll go pour some water for you.”

“Comrade, at your age, you really should be careful…” Zhou Hua looked even more shaken than she did.

Qin Yunan, frowning, asked, “You live here alone?”

The way he said it sounded like he was a senior officer visiting a lonely woman.

Wen Yifan forced a shy smile, didn’t answer, and turned back inside to pour water.

Zhou Hua, still feeling guilty, suddenly noticed something and poked Qin Yunan: “Old Qin! Look at this female comrade’s arm!”

“Her arm wasn’t… injured by you?” Qin Yunan turned and froze as well.

Wen Yifan brought the water out, and when she saw both their eyes fixed on her arm, her heart sank.

Oh no—she had forgotten about this!

“Comrade…” Zhou Hua couldn’t contain his shock, pointing at her arm with his mouth wide open. “Your wound… it healed overnight?”

That was a gunshot scrape, not an ordinary wound. Did this woman really have such extraordinary physical resilience?

Wen Yifan touched her arm, her gaze flickering, then looked up and smiled: “Yes, isn’t it amazing?”

“It truly is,” Qin Yunan said, staring at the small patch of skin. It had only been one night, and even the scar was starting to fade. Curiously, he asked, “How did you do it?”

“I used my family’s ancestral ointment,” Wen Yifan said with a smile, leaving it at that.

Qin Yunan nodded, “I see.” He didn’t press further, which was fortunate for Wen Yifan.

Fortunately, Zhou Hua didn’t pick up on her hints, and he was extremely curious about the ointment.

“Comrade, you saw on the mountain that soldiers inevitably get injured. Look at the scar on Old Qin’s face—that’s from a mission last year. What a shame for such a good-looking face. If we had this ointment, it would have healed long ago.”

“I’m not asking for free, but if there’s any left, can I buy some?”

Their type of unit received a generous monthly allowance, and Zhou Hua figured he could easily afford it. But Wen Yifan raised an eyebrow and counted out ten coins each, giving them back. Qin Yunan refused to take it.

“Wasn’t it thirty?”

“That’s the public price. For you two, just help me spread the word—no need to feel guilty.”

The ointment was made with Spirit Spring water, and Wen Yifan was confident it would work. Before long, she could make a fortune from it.

Qin Yunan understood her reasoning. Zhou Hua, seeing him accept it, quickly pocketed his portion, smiling: “Don’t worry, comrade. I can’t promise what Old Qin will do, but I, Zhou Hua, will help!”

Wen Yifan smiled and saw them out.

She didn’t expect to see them again the very next day. But this time, Qin Yunan was unconscious, lying on a stretcher, carried by Zhou Hua and other comrades.

They didn’t stop on the way and now stood outside the courtyard. Zhou Hua’s face was dark. Without greeting, he spoke rapidly: “Comrade Wen, check Old Qin’s condition. Can he be treated? Give me an answer!”

Wen Yifan smelled the strong scent of blood and realized the situation was serious. She stepped forward, lifted the blanket, and took a quick look. Her face immediately turned grave. “What happened?”

Hearing this, the others looked at Zhou Hua. He wiped his face, eyes sharp, but simply said: “Old Qin had an accident during training. Our team medic was on leave visiting home, so we had no choice but to bring him here…”

Wen Yifan sensed there was more to the story, but the others didn’t volunteer details, so she didn’t ask.

As she covered him with the blanket again, Zhou Hua went pale, stammering: “Wen… Comrade Wen?”

Wen Yifan glanced at him: “What’s there to be afraid of? Just fixing a leg. Come on, carry him inside. The one behind the white curtain, don’t get it wrong. Zhou Hua, come with me.”

Her calm tone made it seem like no big deal. Zhou Hua’s legs went weak at the thought, but since she said she could treat him, he quickly followed.

“Doctor Wen, tell me what to do. I’ll follow your orders,” Zhou Hua corrected himself.

Wen Yifan raised an eyebrow and led him to the kitchen, instructing him to boil water.

“After Old Qin’s leg was heavily pressed, a hematoma formed. You brought him in on time, so the nerves aren’t compressed yet. I’m going to perform surgery, and boiling water will be essential.”

“I can boil water! Doctor Wen, I’m very good at boiling water. Leave it to me,” Zhou Hua said eagerly, eyes bright with determination.

Wen Yifan sighed, patted his shoulder, and said seriously: “Don’t worry. With me here, Comrade Qin’s leg will fully recover.”

With Spirit Spring water as a guarantee, she wasn’t lying. Her words gave Zhou Hua a huge boost of confidence.

After giving instructions, Wen Yifan went inside. The conditions were primitive, so she focused on maximum sterility.

During the procedure, she applied the pre-prepared Spirit Spring water directly to Qin Yunan’s wound. To ensure effectiveness, she applied it again after stitching.

The redness and swelling visibly began to subside, and the stitched wound started healing.

When Zhou Hua saw the results after boiling water, he was stunned.

“This… this is already getting better?”

This was unbelievable—she must be a miracle doctor!

The others were equally shocked. They watched Wen Yifan perform the procedure like hospital doctors—cutting, stitching, following every step—but until…

One comrade suddenly remembered: “I recall! Doctor Wen used a medicinal solution on Captain Qin. After that, his wound immediately started showing improvement!”

The change was rapid, but the accompanying pain was doubled.

Zhou Hua looked at Qin Yunan on the bed, tightly restrained by two comrades, and ground his teeth in frustration. He slammed his fist against the doorframe. Wen Yifan shot him a cold glance.

“I just finished working—now you’re making more trouble for me?”

Her questioning tone made Zhou Hua’s back go cold. He sheepishly backed behind his comrades, as if he had done something wrong.

When Qin Yunan woke up, he saw this scene and gave a weak, faint smile.
