Chapter 7: Discovering Earth, A Qi-Barren Land

After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects

Jiang Yun’s first course of action was to search for life to figure out where he was. He decided to head toward the blue sphere in front of him, assuming it was water. As they say, where there is water, there is life.

He started flying toward Earth. With his Beginning Dao cultivation, the harsh environment of space was nothing to him. Once a cultivator reaches the Loose Immortal realm or higher, they no longer need to breathe.

Soon, Jiang Yun reached Earth and entered the atmosphere, floating in the sky above a landmass. Upon closer inspection, he saw moving dots, which he assumed were living beings.

He floated there for a while, trying to understand this new environment. Suddenly, a flying object passed him, shooting a strange burst of light. Upon contact, it exploded. It didn’t damage Jiang Yun, but it left him speechless. This thing had no Qi, yet contained enough power to kill a Foundation Establishment cultivator. If such a thing were in the hands of a mortal with no cultivation, could they kill a cultivator?

As he thought about this, several other flying objects appeared, shooting the same streaks of light. Jiang Yun wanted to study them, so he used his Dao energy to stop them mid-air. After they stopped, he got closer, and suddenly they exploded. This left Jiang Yun perplexed; he had clearly stopped them, so why did they still explode?

After that, Jiang Yun stopped playing around. He crushed the moving objects in the air and descended to the land. Upon closer inspection, the living beings he saw earlier wore different clothes. To blend in, he found a set of discarded clothes that looked similar to what the men were wearing. These beings looked very similar to him, except their faces looked more rugged and their skin was whiter.

Walking around, Jiang Yun saw a place where people were walking out with books. He thought he could gain knowledge there. He went in, grabbed a few books, and sat down. Jiang Yun couldn’t understand the language, so he used the rules of the world to translate it into his mind. He soon gained an understanding of this world after reading several books.

This world is called Earth, and the place he was at before was called the Moon. The exact location he was at was called the United States, and the state he was near was Maine. The building he was in is called a library, and the people who attacked him before were the military, riding in fighter jets and shooting missiles that exploded with chemicals.

This intrigued Jiang Yun, especially this "nuclear bomb" he read about. It was capable of destroying several miles, making it unlivable. To a cultivator, this is similar to a casual attack from a Nascent Soul expert. It wasn't enough to deal much damage, but it was impressive that a mortal could wield this power without Qi. Even multiple nuclear bombs together might somewhat injure a Nascent Soul expert. Nevertheless, it was too weak to deal any damage to Jiang Yun, so he put it aside and continued to absorb knowledge.

Jiang Yun then discovered something called a "computer" that contained even more knowledge. This prompted him to see if cultivation existed on this planet. To his surprise, it did, but only in fictional stories; nobody believed it existed. Jiang Yun read many stories and gained a clear understanding of what Earthlings thought cultivation was. He was intrigued by the stories and thought he could indeed do most of the things listed. He decided he might try some of these later.

Soon, he came across a news broadcast made by the United States government showing a video of him destroying the fighter jets earlier. Most comments said this was fake and the government was pulling some kind of trick.

Jiang Yun was surprised information could be spread this fast. It was a good thing nobody believed in the supernatural, so Jiang Yun could lay low and continue to gather information. Many things Jiang Yun had never heard of were proposed and done when searching the internet. He was amazed at how humans had gone so far with no Qi. Earth has absolutely no Qi; you can’t cultivate even if you wanted to, so choosing technology is a wise choice.

After searching the internet for some time, Jiang Yun gained a simple understanding of Earth and formed a thought. Since I have no way back for now, I might as well enjoy some fun. This world is rather peaceful without constant killing. I might enjoy some peace after so much danger in the cultivation world.

Jiang Yun traveled the city looking for amusement, but to a cultivator, nothing on Earth was particularly thrilling as it was either too slow or not exciting enough. So, Jiang Yun decided to act on an idea he had while looking up cultivation on the internet.

It appeared in most stories that even if cultivators were on Earth, they were either too weak to make a difference or wanted to stay low-key to avoid attention.

Jiang Yun decided to break the stereotype. He decided to be as flamboyant as possible and shot high above the sky, flying just visible enough above the city. He released his aura, causing many people to be unable to bear the pressure and kneel down. Jiang Yun projected his voice to the entire country—it was not hard for a Beginning Dao realm expert to be heard from such a small distance.

"I am Jiang Yun," he said. "As you could see from the news, I am not from this planet called Earth. I’m here now to declare war on you, as I’ve seen you are the strongest force on this planet. I will use you people as an example to the rest of the world. I will give you one day to prepare yourselves—send whatever you have. To show you what I’m saying isn’t a joke, I shall show you some of my power."

Jiang Yun materialized a giant hand above the United States and slammed it against the ocean. This caused a massive tsunami. Jiang Yun then waved his hand and dispersed it. "Prepare yourselves and take this seriously," he said. "I will be back in a day."

Jiang Yun then disappeared, leaving the country in a state of quiet that quickly turned into panic. Many people were worried about what was going to happen, while many were still in a daze, thinking it was a dream. This caused a large discussion on the internet about what the government was going to do to solve this crisis. Many were also blaming the government, saying such a being wouldn’t have found them if the government wasn’t always looking for aliens. Perhaps this being came due to the search from the government.

With many discussions going on, Jiang Yun was observing all of this himself from a computer. This amused him very much. Of course, he had no real intention of killing people, though he was slightly annoyed at being attacked when he first came to Earth. Jiang Yun’s real goal was to see what a bunch of beings with no Qi were able to accomplish. He had read about it, but coming into first-hand experience would be easier to understand. Not to mention, what if the government had secret weapons? They wouldn't hurt Jiang Yun, but something might surprise him with its power.

So, the day passed, and it was almost time. Jiang Yun decided to make himself noticeable. He stood high in the sky and said, "We shall begin soon. I am right here. I see that you need time to prepare your weapons, so I shall let you aim them at me."

Jiang Yun then went quiet and stood there, waiting for the time to arrive.

Jiang Yun was not disappointed. A while later, he could sense several projectiles coming toward him. Hundreds of nuclear bombs headed Jiang Yun’s way. He let them hit him, as he wanted to know how strong they actually were.

A large explosion was heard in the air. Jiang Yun had made sure he was high enough so that the government could send nuclear bombs without worry. He was very impressed by these weapons; though they did not cause him trouble, the power was still surprising.

Jiang Yun dispersed the smoke and radiation upwards so as not to spread the radiation. He then continued, "Is this all? Continue." Jiang Yun waited there for the next barrage of attacks, wondering what else these Qi-deprived people could display.

Soon, Jiang was left speechless, as after all the fanfare, nothing happened. No new attacks were launched; there was only silence. Jiang Yun wondered, what are these people doing?

After the rest of the day had passed, Jiang Yun gave up and left. He sat at a computer, trying to understand the situation.

Upon seeing what was on the internet, the message the government had released was quite astonishing to Jiang Yun. The words written were something he never thought a country like the United States would say.
