“We already ended things.”
After saying that, Chu Xia pushed his shoulder away. She originally intended to leave directly, but then remembered something and turned her head slightly.
“That night, we…?”
She believed he would understand what she meant by the ellipsis.
However, Jiang Suizhou gave an impeccable smile and said, “We what?”
Chu Xia frowned slightly. “I mean… did we do it?”
His tone, previously emotionless, now carried a hint of amusement.
“Which part?”
His eyes held faint traces of a smile as he looked at her. His lashes fluttered like wings, and when he smiled, the lines at the corners of his eyes extended toward his temples, giving him a dangerously captivating charm.
Chu Xia felt that in front of Jiang Suizhou, she was like a little fox spirit meeting an ancient demon lord—completely outmatched.
She gave up asking and slipped away.
In the car, she added a question mark after “No. 2” in her notes.
When she got home, it was already ten o’clock. To maintain her skincare routine, she strictly followed a rule of sleeping before eleven. But the moment she saw a Rolls-Royce parked downstairs, she knew that schedule was doomed for tonight.
She tried to pretend she didn’t see it and walked along the wall past the car. Then her phone buzzed.
Caller ID: No. 4.
She resignedly picked up. A careless voice, tinged with irritation, came through immediately.
“Trying to ignore me?”
At the same time, the horn blared sharply beside her.
“Get in the car.”
Chu Xia had no choice but to walk back.
The Rolls-Royce window rolled down, revealing a sharp-featured man inside.
He wore a black Armani thin knit sweater, the fitted design outlining his perfect inverted-triangle physique. His hair was short, styled in a sharp American crew cut, and his striking features gave off a dangerously handsome aura.
He smiled faintly, but she could tell he was very irritated.
“Get in. What are you standing there for?”
Chu Xia got into the passenger seat, but before she could speak, he grabbed the back of her head and pulled her in. A hot breath mixed with alcohol hit her face.
After a few breaths, he finally stopped, lowering his gaze at her. Even his sharp brows softened slightly.
“Close your eyes.”
Seeing that she was still staring at him with those alluring eyes, he sighed.
The next second, his large hand covered her eyes—and he kissed her again.
Chu Xia knew struggling would only make things worse, so she simply endured it like being bitten by a dog. When he tried to bite her lip, she leaned back slightly and reached for the door.
Lou Fan reacted quickly, pinning her down.
“Still acting up? I came back to you, what more do you want?”
He thought she was still angry at him, so he lowered his voice to coax her.
“I’ve been waiting here all night. Be good, baby. I’ll give you anything you want.”
Chu Xia thought: then I’ll take you at your word.
“I’m pregnant,” she said. “I want you to marry me.”
Lou Fan froze for a second, then blurted out, “Whose? Mine?”
He narrowed his eyes, clearly trying to recall.
In reality, they had only dated for three months. Those three months had completely hooked him.
She had once refused even kissing him for a long time, driving this seasoned playboy nearly insane.
Three months was already his patience limit.
So last month, he gave her an ultimatum: no sleeping together, and it’s over. Unexpectedly, she really left without a word and disappeared for a month. He had been restless ever since, but didn’t want to lose face by going back to her first.
Tonight, after drinking at a gathering, he couldn’t hold back anymore and came to find her.
“Don’t joke with me. Are you really pregnant?”
Chu Xia nodded.
Lou Fan was furious but couldn’t bring himself to be harsh.
“It can’t be mine. Unless I have the ability to implant a child from a distance.”
“Didn’t you come find me that night a month ago?”
He did, but he had been drunk. He only said a few words before being kicked out. Later the neighbors called the police for disturbing the peace, and he ended up in a police station. His family had to bail him out the next day.
Thinking about it made him embarrassed, and he didn’t want to tell her the truth.
“So it’s not mine. And even if it were, I couldn’t marry you.”
He didn’t mean it maliciously—just stating facts.
Chu Xia nodded, unsurprised.
From the beginning, Lou Fan had made things clear: he only liked her because she resembled his first love, and he was willing to spend lavishly on her.
Unlike others, he was very straightforward and generous. As long as she showed him a little affection, he would immediately buy her bags or jewelry.
Some might find him hurtful, but Chu Xia didn’t care. She wanted wealth, not sincerity.
After Shen Siren, her emotions no longer depended on anyone. No one could affect her mood anymore.
To her, Lou Fan—outside of his lust-driven moments—was simply a very competent and generous ATM.
But the ATM himself was not feeling good at all. He stared ahead, took a deep breath, and asked:
“Whose is it? Tell me. I won’t get angry.”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
He gritted his teeth but swallowed the harsher words when he saw her face.
He felt a complicated mix of emotions—like a father discovering his daughter had been deceived, mixed with regret for not getting there first, and frustration toward Chu Xia’s irresponsibility.
He closed his eyes, rubbed his forehead, and sighed.
“Let me think. Call you tomorrow.”
Chu Xia nodded innocently.
When she got out of the car, he didn’t notice the faint smile at the corner of her lips.
