Sheng Jingshi’s company had recently been hit by malicious competition. After several days and
nights of nonstop work, he finally managed to resolve it.
Originally, he planned to go home and sleep.
But his grandfather forced him to go on a blind date.
The woman’s family assets were not comparable to the Sheng family, but her father and brother
both held important positions in the core political circle—people who could speak at critical
moments.
He mainly came to appease his grandfather, and secondarily to gather information. If necessary,
her family might be useful in the future.
Who knew the woman insisted on meeting in such a remote place.
He was already sleep-deprived. After arriving, he even had to wait half an hour.
Young Master Sheng had never suffered such treatment in his life.
He stood up, ready to leave.
Then he saw Li Chuxia walking in, arm-in-arm with a man, laughing and talking.
He let out a cold, mocking laugh, staring at her as if trying to burn a hole through her back.
At first, Chuxia didn’t notice him.
She and Lou Fan sat indoors instead of the terrace because she said she was cold. Candles were
lit—romantic enough even inside.
Lou Fan even asked for a blanket and personally draped it over her like a peacock showing off.
Only then did Chuxia feel a burning gaze from outside.
She turned her head.
There he was—Sheng Jingshi—sitting on the terrace, staring at her with clear disdain.
“Still cold?”
Lou Fan’s voice pulled her back. She smiled lightly.
“No, thank you. You’ve changed.”
“Changed how?” he asked, pleased.
“You’re more considerate now.”
“That enough for you to get back together with me?”
Chuxia looked slightly surprised.
“You still want to date me like this?”
He knew she meant the pregnancy, but he didn’t care. He had grown up abroad, lived freely, and
never minded such things. He simply didn’t go all the way with other women after her.
To him, Chuxia was different—she never restricted him. That freedom made him addicted.
“It’s just dating,” he said casually. “Not marriage. And we’re compatible, aren’t we?”
Chuxia already had her answer.
But she didn’t refuse outright. Men had pride.
“I need some time to think about it.”
Their meal was going smoothly—until someone interrupted.
“Li Chuxia. It really is you.”
A warm female voice appeared.
It was Shen Fuyue.
She walked over elegantly, acting familiar.
“You don’t remember me?”
Seeing Lou Fan’s questioning look, Chuxia introduced her:
“This is Miss Shen, Shen Fuyue.”
Lou Fan recognized the Shen family immediately. A powerful name in Beijing’s elite circle.
But he didn’t flatter her—just greeted her politely.
Shen Fuyue didn’t leave. Instead, she looked between them.
“So, this is your new boyfriend?”
The word “new” made Lou Fan slightly unhappy.
Chuxia didn’t respond.
Lou Fan smiled lightly:
“Not yet. I’m still waiting for her answer.”
Shen Fuyue acted surprised.
“Oh? I thought after being dumped by my brother, you’d fallen apart.”
Chuxia’s smile faded slightly.
She didn’t like having that past brought up again.
Especially by her.
Lou Fan frowned slightly.
“Your brother?”
Before Chuxia could answer—
A cold voice cut in from behind.
“She didn’t tell you a lot of things.”
Sheng Jingshi walked over.
Lazy, arrogant, dangerous.
The kind of man who looked like trouble itself.
Shen Fuyue’s eyes lit up when she saw him.
She even stepped forward to introduce herself—
But he didn’t even look at her.
He walked straight past her and stopped in front of Chuxia.
Staring down at her.
Lou Fan’s expression changed instantly.
“Who are you?”
Sheng Jingshi ignored him.
He kept his eyes on Chuxia.
“You tell him,” he said coldly. “Who I am.”
Silence fell.
Lou Fan turned to her too.
“Who is he?”
Chuxia calmly lifted her glass.
After a pause, she smiled faintly.
“He’s like you.”
“An ex.”
Sheng Jingshi let out a cold laugh—but said nothing.
Lou Fan immediately reacted:
“You can’t drink.”
Sheng Jingshi’s eyes darkened.
“Why can’t she drink?”
Chuxia quickly interrupted.
“My stomach hasn’t been well lately.”
In reality, it was juice.
But she didn’t want trouble.
“I want to go home,” she said.
“I’ll take you,” Lou Fan said immediately.
But just as she stood—
Sheng Jingshi grabbed her wrist.
“I’ll take her,” he said, looking at Lou Fan.
“I didn’t drink.”
Lou Fan’s patience snapped.
He smirked.
“You look awfully eager. Afraid people don’t know you’re still hung up on her?”
He leaned back slightly.
“Or is being an ‘ex’ giving you the privilege to cut in line whenever you want?”
