With her husband busy making money and unable to sleep, Gu Anyun thought it might be a good idea to take a bath to pass the time.

In the bathroom, Gu Anyun added a few drops of essential oil to the bathtub when her phone rang from the bedroom.

She set down the oil and walked out.Full novel: After Crashing My Brain, I Became a Flirty Expert to Tease My Confused Ex-Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was a video call from Lian Caige.

Gu Anyun sat on the edge of the bed and answered the call.

Lian Caige’s gentle, delicate face filled the screen. Her features weren’t particularly striking, but her skin was fair.

Gu Anyun greeted her warmly, “Caicai.”

“You finally answered my call!” Lian Caige complained right away. “I’ve called and video-called you several times over the past two days, and you didn’t answer any of them! I was so worried—I thought you were hiding away to heal from heartbreak!”

Gu Anyun frowned, not understanding what Lian Caige was saying.

“Why would I be heartbroken?”

Lian Caige stared at her, equally puzzled by Gu Anyun’s confusion.

After a moment, Lian Caige gave her a thumbs-up. “Impressive! As expected of the eldest daughter of the Gu family. Your mindset and awareness… I almost want to learn from you.”

Gu Anyun: “??”

She thought Lian Caige was acting strange today.

“Caicai, I don’t understand what you’re saying.”

Lian Caige paused. “You don’t understand?”

Gu Anyun nodded. “It feels like we’re not on the same page.”

Lian Caige: “…”

That seemed to be the case.

But soon, Lian Caige realized what was wrong.

She noticed the headboard in the background behind Gu Anyun and was taken aback. “You haven’t moved out yet?”

Moved out?

Gu Anyun frowned, even more confused. “Why would I move out?”

“No…” Lian Caige furrowed her brow. “Didn’t you and Jin Chenyue go to the Civil Affairs Bureau three days ago to…”

“Young Madam!”

The door was suddenly pushed open from the outside, the noise startling Gu Anyun so much that she didn’t catch the rest of Lian Caige’s words.

She looked up to see Nan Qiu rushing in, flustered.

“Nan Qiu?” Gu Anyun had never seen Nan Qiu like this before and felt inexplicably uneasy. “What’s wrong?”

“Young Master, he…”

Gu Anyun stood up abruptly. “What happened to my husband?”

“Young Master suddenly fainted.”

Thud—

The phone fell, landing on the soft Persian carpet.

Gu Anyun rushed out of the room and ran toward the study.

Nan Qiu followed behind her, anxiously calling out, “Young Madam, slow down! You just got out of the hospital…”

Amid the chaos, the video call on the fallen phone remained connected.

Lian Caige frantically called out to Gu Anyun from the other end of the video, but received no response.

…

Late at night in the hospital, the corridor outside the emergency room was eerily quiet and gloomy.

Sitting on a bench along the corridor, Nan Qiu held Gu Anyun tightly. The two of them remained silent, their eyes fixed on the emergency room door.

In her haste to leave, Gu Anyun was only wearing a thin dress and a pair of cotton slippers from home.

Nan Qiu wasn’t much better off. She wore indoor work shoes that offered little warmth, and her butler uniform was thin. The only down jacket she had, she had taken off and given to Gu Anyun as soon as they arrived at the hospital.

Now, she was cold herself, but she was even more worried about Gu Anyun catching a chill.

More than half an hour had passed since they arrived at the hospital, and Jin Chenyue’s condition was still unclear.

From the other end of the corridor, Li Yang hurried over, carrying a large bag.

Nan Qiu waved to him. “Assistant Li, quick, give me the small blanket.”

Li Yang took out a small blanket from the bag, shook it open, and handed it to Nan Qiu.Nan Qiu took it and immediately wrapped it around Gu Anyun’s body.

Gu Anyun snapped back to reality, glanced down at the small blanket covering her, then looked at Nan Qiu, only to realize Nan Qiu wasn’t wearing any thick clothing herself.

She reached out to remove the small blanket, but Nan Qiu stopped her.

“Young Mistress, keep it on, be careful not to catch a cold.”

“What about you?”

Nan Qiu felt a warmth in her heart and smiled. “Assistant Li has more. I’ll take care of you first.”

“I’m fine. Hurry and put the blanket on.”

“Alright.” Nan Qiu helped tuck the blanket around her once more before standing up and taking a bag from Li Yang.

Inside the bag was a down jacket. Nan Qiu put it on, then pulled out a pair of snow boots from the bag. She walked over to Gu Anyun and knelt down in front of her.

Gu Anyun was still somewhat dazed. It wasn’t until Nan Qiu had finished helping her change her shoes that she fully regained her senses.

She wiggled her feet—they felt much warmer now.

Just then, the door to the emergency room opened.

Gu Anyun immediately stood up.

The attending physician was a trusted specialist doctor for the Jin family, surnamed Chen, whom Gu Anyun knew.

“Dr. Chen, how is my husband?”

Dr. Chen was over fifty, kind-faced and gentle. Even though he had been dragged out of his warm bed in the middle of the night, he showed no trace of resentment.

He removed his mask and looked at Gu Anyun. “Food poisoning. Fortunately, he was brought to the hospital in time. I performed gastric lavage on him, and after two days of IV fluids, he should be mostly fine.”

Hearing this, Nan Qiu let out a huge sigh of relief. “Thank goodness, thank goodness…”

Gu Anyun was still somewhat shaken, the lingering fear causing her body to tremble slightly. The corners of her eyes were red. “Is he really okay? Dr. Chen, please don’t lie to me.”

Seeing her like this, Dr. Chen knew she had been badly frightened.

He smiled gently. “Young Mistress, there’s no need to worry too much. Young Master Jin has a strong constitution. For an ordinary person, food poisoning might require a recovery period of three days to a week, but for Young Master Jin, I think he’ll be back to his lively self in at most two days.”

Dr. Chen’s words were meant to comfort Gu Anyun, but they were also true.

Jin Chenyue exercised regularly, and his annual health checkups always showed excellent results.

Only after confirming that Jin Chenyue was fine did Gu Anyun finally relax completely.

And as it turned out, Dr. Chen hadn’t lied.

Jin Chenyue regained consciousness just half an hour after being transferred to the ward.

The first thing he felt upon opening his eyes was dizziness, followed by a slight pain in his stomach and some discomfort in his throat.

He glanced around, not unfamiliar with the surroundings.

After all, he had just taken Gu Anyun from this very place earlier that evening.

When Gu Anyun pushed the door open, Jin Chenyue had just sat up.

“Husband!”

She exclaimed, rushing over to press her hands on his shoulders. “You just woke up. Don’t get out of bed.”

“I need to use the restroom.”

Gu Anyun froze.

A moment later, she asked softly, “Then… should I help you over?”

Jin Chenyue looked at her slightly flushed cheeks and gave a faint smile with his pale lips. “No need, I can walk on my own.”

Gu Anyun shook her head, looking at his still-pale face, and insisted on helping him.

Jin Chenyue couldn’t argue with her, so he let her support him.

Gu Anyun held his IV bag in one hand and supported his waist with the other, carefully guiding him step by step to the restroom door.

Jin Chenyue wasn’t actually that weak, but seeing how seriously Gu Anyun was helping him, he could only cooperate, moving slowly step by step.

At the door, Jin Chenyue took the IV bag from her upraised hand. “You don’t need to come in. I can manage on my own.”Gu Anyun also felt a bit shy. Even though they were husband and wife, it was still quite embarrassing.

But just thinking about him having to undo his pants with one hand, she gritted her teeth, blushed, and looked at him, “Are you sure you can manage alone?”

Jin Chenyue hung the IV bag on a temporary hook in the bathroom. Hearing her question, he turned to look at her.

Seeing her standing awkwardly outside the door, her slightly flushed cheeks adding a touch of softness to her delicate and radiant face.

Though he clearly understood what she meant, a mischievous impulse suddenly welled up in his heart.

He curled his lips and sighed as if helplessly, “Seems like it’s a bit inconvenient with one hand? How about… my wife helps me undo it?”

Boom—

Gu Anyun’s face instantly flushed bright red!
