Watching Su Weiwei nearly fall into Mu Junze’s arms, Lu Yushi’s face turned to ice.
This woman was utterly shameless, clinging like a ghost that refused to disperse!
They had barely divorced, and already she was throwing herself into another man’s arms.
His expression frostbitten, Lu Yushi turned to Mu Junze and gave the slightest nod. “Section Chief Mu, I was just on my way to find you.”
But the sight of Su Weiwei and Mu Junze together left him unaccountably unsettled—irritated in a way he couldn’t quite name.
Mu Junze only smiled lightly. “Since we’ve met here, let’s talk directly.”
Lu Yushi gestured politely for him to proceed.
Mu Junze glanced down at Su Weiwei. “Is your foot alright? Can you walk on your own?”
Su Weiwei hooked her lips into a sly smile, clinging to his arm as she blinked up at him. “No.”
Deliberately denying Lu Yushi the opportunity.
Discuss business? Not happening.
If there was a chance to irritate Lu Yushi, she would never let it slip by.
Lu Yushi could see at a glance she was doing it on purpose, and nearly exploded with fury.
Mu Junze lowered his gaze, taking in her mischievous defiance. Her long lashes trembled, half-hiding the cunning spark within. He couldn’t help a quiet chuckle—she really was amusing.
He checked his watch. There was still half an hour before his scheduled meeting with Lu Yushi.
“President Lu,” he said mildly, “I’ll escort Miss Su home first. Perhaps you could wait inside?”
Lu Yushi’s brows drew together, though he smoothed his expression almost immediately. “No need. I know where Miss Su lives—I’ll take her.”
His gaze swept over Su Weiwei, cold and sharp.
Mu Junze lifted his brows in mild surprise. “So President Lu and Miss Su are… familiar?”
Lu Yushi’s lips curled in a cold laugh. “Very familiar.”
But at the exact same moment, Su Weiwei retorted crisply: “Not familiar at all.”
Lu Yushi: “…”
Three years of marriage—even if nothing else, she had been his wife for those years. And she dared claim they weren’t familiar?
His face darkened to an ugly shade. Nearby, Xiao Chun stood frozen in confusion. Familiar? His president and Miss Su? Why had he never heard a word of this?
Su Weiwei clung tighter to Mu Junze’s arm. “I really don’t know President Lu. I suspect he covets my beauty. Section Chief Mu, you’d better take me back yourself.”
She clutched at Mu Junze’s sleeve as though it were worth hundreds of billions.
Lu Yushi almost laughed from sheer rage. To say such things with a straight face—her skin must be thicker than a fortress wall.
Mu Junze couldn’t help chuckling aloud, his voice gentle. “Come then, I’ll send you.”
Su Weiwei leaned into him, limping slightly as they headed for the door.
Lu Yushi flicked Xiao Chun a look, but Xiao Chun only blinked back blankly, failing utterly to grasp his signal.
Face dark as thunder, Lu Yushi strode forward himself, seizing Su Weiwei’s free arm. “Section Chief Mu, give me a moment.”
Without waiting for her protest, he swept her up in a firm bridal carry.
Su Weiwei gasped, furious. “Lu Yushi, what do you think you’re doing?!”
His cold laugh was low and sharp. “What else? Taking you home.”
Better to keep her out of sight, far away from causing more trouble.
Even he didn’t realize that beneath his stoic surface, a nameless fire was surging in his chest. That fire had driven him, against all his habits, to scoop her up and carry her off.
Mu Junze released Su Weiwei’s arm, his expression unreadable as he watched Lu Yushi stride away with her in his arms. His eyes lowered slightly, thoughtful.
At last, Xiao Chun jolted awake, breaking into a sweat as he hurried to usher Mu Junze back into the café.
Oh no—hadn’t the president meant for him to take Miss Su home? And now he’d let the chance slip… would he be struck down for this?
By the time panic truly set in, Lu Yushi had already carried Su Weiwei to the escalator.
Passersby turned to stare, eyes wide with shock at the sight of the aloof president carrying a woman so brazenly.
Expression blank, Lu Yushi’s mind held only one thought—send Su Weiwei away.
The farther, the better.
If only interplanetary shuttles had been invented already, he’d have gladly stuffed her aboard and launched her straight into space.
