“Huafeng Group is looking for a partner. We’ve been trying for a long time, but now there’s an overseas multinational company that has caught Mr. Hua’s attention.”

Lin Xijun wore a face full of anticipation, arms crossed. “If you can get Mr. Hua to agree to work with Fanxing, this deal is yours. Do you dare take it?”

He placed a document on the table, the project name clearly written on it.Full novel: After Fleeing the Wedding for Three Years Young Master Jiang’s Playboy Persona Collapsed — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

So he had come prepared deliberately setting a difficult task for her.

Lin Xiangwan lowered her gaze to the document, gripping it firmly.

“Fine. I’ll take it.”

Back in the office, her assistant Xiao Xue closed the door and brought over a cup of tea.

Lin Xiangwan was about to refuse when she noticed a subtle aroma of tea.

Xiao Xue said carefully, “It’s Da Hong Pao. You had it last time. President Lin, you don’t like it?”

“No, it’s fine. It just reminded me of something,” Lin Xiangwan replied, thinking of the person she had shared tea with before.

She collected herself and took the cup. “Tell me about Hua Feng’s situation.”

Xiao Xue said, “Old Mr. Hua only cares about company strength. Fanxing is no worse than that multinational, and it’s locally rooted in Rongcheng, which actually gives it an advantage.”

“Then why hasn’t the deal gone through?” Lin Xiangwan raised an eyebrow.

Xiao Xue hesitated, glancing at her before murmuring, “The Hua family is related to Madam Jiang…”

Lin Xiangwan’s brow furrowed, massaging her temple.

Of course Lin Xijun wouldn’t set her an easy trap.

All the well-known groups in Rongcheng are potential partners Fanxing wants to win over, but the Jiang family wields influence and has tangled ties with these groups.

When she ran away from her wedding, she had been completely disillusioned, leaving on impulse with no thought of returning.

But when she learned that this company was about to be taken by the mistress and her son, she resolutely returned to reclaim what was hers.

One departure, one return both were out of necessity.

And now, she had no choice but to push forward.

Seeing Lin Xiangwan deep in thought, Xiao Xue panicked.

“This is nearly impossible! The old man is famously temperamental and won’t tolerate a single misstep. The Jiang family lost face back then it was his cousin Madam Jiang who lost face. There’s no way he’ll cooperate with Fanxing.”

Lin Xiangwan blinked slowly, unhurried. “Is that so?”

Xiao Xue continued, “Back then, Lin Xijun went three times to the Jiangnan mansion to invite the old man for tea, even prepared his favorite gifts, but the old man didn’t even glance at him. If you go personally now, President Lin…”

She trailed off. Lin Xiangwan understood immediately.

Meeting Mr. Hua in person would be nearly impossible he’d probably refuse to see her, or at worst, berate her.

Xiao Xue sighed, sweat beading her forehead. “President Lin, you should just return this project to them and seek a new partner. There’s no need to jump into a trap someone dug.”

“No, I’m going to jump right in.”

Lin Xiangwan looked up at her, eyes bright and composed calm and collected in a way that surpassed anyone else.

She wasn’t acting out of spite toward Lin Xijun. After thinking it through, she realized this project was one she had no choice but to take.

When she walked out with the document, all the shareholders, including Uncle Zhong, were watching.

Even though Uncle Zhong had followed her grandfather’s will and made her president, the shareholders were constantly observing whether she was qualified.

If she declined this project, it would be seen as cowardice a refusal to confront the Jiang family issue.

Even if she kept her position as president, it would cause endless business repercussions.

By tackling the challenge and completing it perfectly, the shareholders would gain more trust in her.

So she had to take it.

Lin Xijun and his family hadn’t interfered or stopped her from working with Dingsheng they had deliberately waited for her to act.

Quite a clever move.

Lin Xiangwan smiled faintly, her gaze on Xiao Xue.

“Find out for me what is Old Mr. Hua’s schedule like?”

Xiao Xue looked uneasy, clearing her throat. “But President Lin, even if you know where he is, you can’t see him. He has difficulty moving these days, rarely leaves his house. Either he’s in Jiangnan with a chauffeured car for business, or he’s at home.”

In other words, Lin Xiangwan had no channel to meet Mr. Hua unless he chose to see her.

Lin Xiangwan smiled brightly. “Who said I’m trying to meet him just to block him?”

Xiao Xue didn’t dare ask further. Seeing Lin Xiangwan’s confidence, she knew it might not go perfectly, but she said nothing and went to check anyway.

That afternoon, Lin Xiangwan went home to change clothes.

On her way out, Wen Qian called.

“There’s a gathering tonight some classmates from our class. Are you coming?”

Lin Xiangwan, already in the car and seeing Qin Ou, shook her head and pressed the accelerator.

“No, I need to go to the Jiang family.”

“Oh, you’re going… wait, what? Where exactly are you going?” Wen Qian’s voice shot up.

Lin Xiangwan glanced at the bouquet on the passenger seat, calm and detached. “I’ve been in Rongcheng this long and haven’t visited Grandma Jiang. I have time today, so I’m going to see her.”

“The Jiang family still holds your runaway wedding against you. No one can accept you. Even if Madam Jiang isn’t blaming you for going abroad, she hasn’t interacted with the Lin family for three years. They won’t welcome you why humiliate yourself?”

Wen Qian grew anxious at the thought.

She didn’t want to see Lin Xiangwan wronged. Once abandoned by everyone, she had become the so-called “crazy runaway bride.”

Going back now would only invite scorn. Just thinking about it made Wen Qian worry.

Lin Xiangwan, however, smiled nonchalantly. “You know me. Since I chose to return, I’m prepared for everything, including facing the Jiang family. Don’t worry I’ve got this.”

She hung up and pressed the accelerator toward the Jiang family home.

Wen Qian bit her lip, gripping her phone, then decided to make a call.

When the call connected, a man’s voice sounded slightly surprised.

“Miss Wen?”

“Wanwan is going to visit Madam Jiang at the Jiang family home. Notify Jiang Shijing. I don’t care how he feels about Wanwan now. Back when they were dating, he was the one who was unfaithful first he wronged Wanwan!”

Wen Qian’s tone was icy, unleashing her fury over the phone. “For that alone, he must go help her! Otherwise, I’ll hold you accountable!”

Zhou Yan was startled, finally finding his voice. “Uh… you want to fight? That’s with my cousin! What does this have to do with me?”

“Just handle it. If you fail, I’ll come after you!”

Wen Qian slammed the phone down, sighing with worry.

Now it was up to that big rascal to see if he had any conscience left…
