At this moment, Su Qianqian stood frozen in place, her long lashes trembling… Her autumn eyes fixed on Lin Yan, full of disbelief.
“Brother Lin… what did you… just say?”
After a long time, Su Qianqian’s eyes turned red, her delicate body trembling as she asked in a shaky voice…
But Lin Yan showed no mercy! He glared at her and roared,
“Don’t call me Brother Lin!! You poisonous woman aren’t worthy to call me that!!”
In that instant!!
Su Qianqian felt like the world had gone silent. All the strength in her body was drained by an invisible force!
She shakily raised her pale hand and clutched her chest… then fell to her knees with a thud.
She had imagined all kinds of reactions Lin Yan might have after learning the truth—anger, sadness, or even indifference… But she had never imagined!!
That Lin Yan… would choose to cut ties with her completely!!
After all… she and Lin Yan had been childhood sweethearts for years!! She had treated him—besides her parents—as the most important person in her life!!
Yet now… the most important person in her life had chosen to sever all ties with her!!
Su Qianqian shut her eyes tightly. Tears poured down like heavy rain, uncontrollably…
Everything she had endured these past days to cure Lin Yan’s fatal illness, combined with his cruel words now, made her heart feel like it was being slashed by knives!!
She hung her head low, panting heavily… Then suddenly, she noticed the short dagger at her waist…
At this point… was there even any meaning in staying alive?
Su Qianqian let out a bitter laugh.
In the next moment!!
She suddenly raised her hand! Drew the dagger from her waist and thrust it toward her neck at lightning speed!!
Lin Yan froze in place when he saw this! Clearly, he hadn’t expected Su Qianqian to do something so extreme!!
Just as the dagger was about to pierce her flesh—
Tap—!!
Ye Mu suddenly grabbed her wrist!
Su Qianqian’s eyes trembled as she opened them and turned toward Ye Mu…
“Life is long—thousands of years ahead. You’re only nineteen… and you already want to die?”
Ye Mu frowned slightly, his voice calm.
Su Qianqian let out a sorrowful laugh.
“Life may be long… but what meaning is there in mine?”
Ye Mu raised an eyebrow. “Of course there’s meaning…”
“What… meaning?”
Su Qianqian lowered her head and asked in a trembling voice.
She thought Ye Mu would say something to comfort her… but instead—
“To serve this Holy Son!!”
With those words… Su Qianqian didn’t show any disgust or anger like she usually would. Instead, she gave a miserable smile.
Ye Mu wasn’t the least bit annoyed. Instead, he chuckled lightly.
“Heh… I really don’t know how to comfort people. So what? You’re my maid. If I don’t allow you to die, then you’re not allowed to die!!”
Hearing that… Su Qianqian fell silent for a moment… For some reason! The Ye Mu she used to hate so much… suddenly didn’t seem that detestable…
After a long while… she slowly loosened her grip on the dagger…
“Alright… I won’t die… I won’t…”
[Ding! Su Qianqian’s favorability toward the host has increased by 30. Current favorability: 20 (slightly fond).]
“Phew! Finally saved her!”
Ye Mu let out a breath of relief! It wasn’t because he was kindhearted—rather… if Su Qianqian died, he’d lose a key source of luck points!!
That was something he absolutely couldn’t allow!!
What surprised Ye Mu was that after convincing her to live, Su Qianqian’s favorability toward him had actually gone up…
Ye Mu shook his head and tossed the thought aside. He then looked toward Lin Yan, who was still kneeling on the ground, contemplating what to do with him—release him, cripple him, or…
[Ding! Child of Fate is under the protection of the Heavenly Dao. If the host’s luck has not surpassed his, forcing a kill will result in a backlash. Also, the system advises against killing Lin Yan now, as doing so would greatly reduce the amount of luck points gained…]
At that moment, the system’s voice rang out!
Hearing this, Ye Mu narrowed his eyes and activated the True Sight Eye.
[Luck: Red (unstable… showing signs of dropping below gold)]
“Heh… as expected of a top-tier Child of Fate. Terrifying indeed!!”
Ye Mu sighed. Even after harvesting so many luck points from Lin Yan, his luck was still red. This level of fortune was truly frightening!!
He turned to Su Qianqian and asked with a smile,
“Qianqian, tell me… how should I deal with Lin Yan?”
Though he had already decided not to kill Lin Yan, Ye Mu suddenly felt like teasing Su Qianqian…
Su Qianqian’s expression froze, and her voice trembled as she said, “Whatever the Holy Son wishes… that’s what should be done…”
“Really?”
Ye Mu narrowed his eyes slightly.
Su Qianqian bit her red lips and nodded, “R-Really!”
Ye Mu’s expression remained calm. “Then let’s kill him!!”
With that!! He walked straight toward Lin Yan!
Su Qianqian trembled and shut her eyes… After hesitating for a long time, she finally said in a shaky voice,
“W-Wait!!”
Ye Mu stopped and turned to look at her, half-smiling. “Something wrong?”
Su Qianqian bit her lips tightly, fists clenched.
“Holy Son… c-could you… could you…”
She struggled to speak…
Ye Mu calmly said, “Just say it.”
Su Qianqian took a deep breath…
As soon as she spoke, she shut her eyes, already preparing for rejection—she knew such a request was asking too much!
So much that… it took her ages just to summon the courage to say it…
But in the next moment! Su Qianqian’s eyes snapped open in shock!
“I agree.”
“You… what did you say!?”
She asked, her voice trembling.
“I said I agree to spare Lin Yan’s life.”
Ye Mu’s tone was calm. As he spoke, he walked up to Lin Yan with a faint smirk.
“But… while I won’t kill him, he won’t escape punishment either! I’ll let him live, but… I’ll destroy his cultivation!!”
As soon as he finished, Ye Mu raised his finger and summoned a sharp strand of spiritual energy!
Crack—!!
It pierced straight through Lin Yan’s dantian!!
In an instant!! Lin Yan’s cultivation collapsed like a balloon!! Within moments, he had become a cripple!!
[Ding! Host has crippled Lin Yan’s cultivation. Gained luck point.]
“Ahhhh!! Ye Mu!! I’ll kill you!! Kill you!!”
Feeling the loss of his cultivation, Lin Yan’s eyes turned blood-red! He glared at Ye Mu with monstrous killing intent!!
Then he turned to Su Qianqian and roared,
“You shameless woman!! Filthy slut!!”
To cultivators, cultivation was everything! Especially for someone like Lin Yan who valued power above all else!!
Ye Mu’s action!! Was as good as striking at his very soul, leaving him worse than dead!!
He was about to shout more—but was interrupted by Gu Xiyu’s voice.
“Yan’er! Your dantian… I can repair it! But right now! We need to leave!!”
As she spoke, the fury on Lin Yan’s face faded. Inwardly, he asked in a trembling voice,
“Master… you… you really mean that?”
“Now’s your chance! Go!!”
Lin Yan clenched his teeth and forcefully suppressed his emotions! He glared hatefully at Ye Mu and thought viciously,
“Ye Mu!! Just you wait!!”
Then… he staggered and left the hall…
Once Lin Yan was gone—
Ye Mu turned to look at Su Qianqian…
She kept her head low, then sniffled softly and whispered,
“Thank you…”
She had truly never expected Ye Mu to grant her request… to really spare Lin Yan’s life. For a moment, Su Qianqian felt that aside from being a bit lustful… Ye Mu actually wasn’t so bad.
