The next morning, the first light of dawn gently spread across the sky, the horizon tinged with a pale hue. After a night of wind and rain, the streets looked unusually calm.

A beam of sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtain and shone directly into Jiang Zhao’s eyes. He frowned instinctively and opened them, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling in confusion.

Am I the son of a tycoon richer than nations, or a military heir suppressing border rebellions?

Just as Jiang Zhao tried to sit up, a sharp, icy pain shot through his entire body, making him gasp.

Damn, so I didn’t transmigrate after all! Novels really are full of lies. That nonsense about life peaking after a huge setback—it’s all fake!

Lying on a comfortable Simmons mattress, Jiang Zhao sighed, “I must be out of my mind, actually thinking about running away from reality.”

Just then, the quilt beside him shifted, drawing his attention. His eyes widened.

A seductive, curvaceous figure emerged from under the blanket. Her delicate face carried a hint of laziness, and her messy black hair draped over her fair shoulders.

Qin Lingxue rubbed her eyes and looked at the stunned Jiang Zhao. Her voice was lazy and casual, “You’re awake?”

Jiang Zhao stared in shock at the scantily clad Qin Lingxue. Seeing the scattered clothes on the bed, a terrifying thought crossed his mind. His voice trembled, “You… what did you do to me last night? Did we…?”

Seeing his panicked expression, Qin Lingxue’s lips curved into an unreadable smile. She leaned down and hugged Jiang Zhao, her soft chest pressing against his as she whispered in his ear, “Two people sleeping in the same bed… what do you think happened? You’re quite moist…”

Their bodies pressed tightly together. Everything that shouldn’t have touched, had already touched.

Feeling the warmth of her soft body, Jiang Zhao used all his strength to push her away and shouted angrily, “This is assault! That’s illegal! Aren’t you afraid I’ll call the police?”

Qin Lingxue’s smile faded. She got out of bed and began dressing, her back turned to him as she said calmly, “Only assaulting a woman is illegal. Assaulting a man? The law doesn’t say anything about that. Who are you going to report it to?”

“And besides… with the condition you’re in, do you really think you’d still be lying here if I had actually done anything to you?”

With that, she slipped her feet into white bunny slippers and walked out without even glancing back, shutting the door behind her.

Once she left, Jiang Zhao finally calmed down. He also silently cursed himself for being too stupid just now.

Now that he was clear-headed, he started thinking—why did Qin Lingxue bring him here in the first place?

Jiang Zhao wasn’t dumb. Judging by her behavior, she probably had feelings for him. No wonder she had been picking fights with him constantly before.

If it were someone else, they might’ve given in. After all, it would save them ten years of hard work. But was Jiang Zhao that kind of man?

Live off a woman? Ha! Even if he was down and out, he was still a proud self-made man. His teeth were only made for chewing the tough!

Right now, he needed to figure out how to convince this woman to let him go, rise again, and take revenge on those bastards from the Jiang family!

While he was racking his brain for an escape plan, the bedroom door opened. Qin Lingxue returned, wearing an outer coat and holding a bowl of white porridge, which she handed to him.

“Eat a little. I specially had this medicinal porridge made. It’ll help with your injuries.”

Jiang Zhao lay on the bed, unmoved. He knew her too well—this gentle act was definitely a setup. Who knew what trap she was laying?

“I’m not eating! I suggest you let me go immediately. I’m a living person. If I suddenly go missing, someone will report it. Once they investigate, you’re done for.”

Hearing that, Qin Lingxue’s beautiful face revealed a cold smile. “Figure out your situation, will you? Right now, who in this world even cares whether you live or die besides me?”

“Is it Jiang Chenfeng, who pushed you into the abyss with your parents, or your girlfriend Wu Xue, who already found someone new?”

Every word stabbed into Jiang Zhao’s heart like a dagger. He wanted to argue, but had nothing to say. All he could do was turn his head and mutter, “My problems have nothing to do with you.”

He didn’t realize that this line completely infuriated Qin Lingxue.

She placed the porridge aside, kicked off her slippers, got on the bed, and sat down heavily on Jiang Zhao, making the whole bed sink.

“Nothing to do with me?” Qin Lingxue looked down at him, her gaze sharp. “I’ll make you face reality right now!”

She suddenly grabbed his neck to stop him from moving and kissed him hard. Her red lips pressed aggressively against his. Jiang Zhao’s eyes widened. He struggled desperately, but it was useless.

The kiss lasted a full two minutes before Qin Lingxue finally let him go, satisfied.

She wiped the corner of her mouth and said coldly, “You have two choices—drink the porridge, or I kiss you again. Pick one.”

Jiang Zhao glared at her with clenched teeth but didn’t dare resist again, afraid she’d follow through. Swallowing his pride, he said, “…I’ll drink.”

Getting the answer she wanted, Qin Lingxue’s cold expression finally softened a little. “That’s better. Be obedient and I won’t do anything to you.” Then she lay down beside him, lifted his head to rest on her lap, and brought the bowl of porridge over to feed him.

Jiang Zhao’s face turned red. He felt like a giant baby. But with the spoon already at his lips, he had no choice but to obediently open his mouth and drink.

He consoled himself: She forced me. I didn’t have a choice.

To his surprise, the medicinal porridge didn’t taste bitter at all—it was actually a bit sweet.

Seeing his surprise, Qin Lingxue finally spoke, “I know you like sweet things, so I added a little honey. I know all your eating habits. But what about your girlfriend Wu Xue?”

Jiang Zhao’s expression darkened.

That woman, Wu Xue, had never fed him like this, let alone bothered to learn what he liked.

Looking again at this crazy woman—really, comparison only brought pain.

Soon, the sweet porridge was finished, but Jiang Zhao was left wanting more.

He had to admit, after eating so much meat and greasy food, something light like this tasted like a gourmet feast.

Qin Lingxue got up and placed the empty bowl aside. Seeing the satisfied look on his face, a smile finally appeared on her cold, goddess-like features. Then she leaned forward, smiling charmingly, and said, “You’ve had the porridge, and I’ve fed you for so long. How are you going to thank me?”
