On the second day in Jinling, Jiang Zhao woke up in an unfamiliar room. Instinctively, he reached out to hug his soft and fragrant wife, but grabbed at empty air. Only then did he remember—he wasn’t home.

The all-wood room carried a faint scent of sandalwood.

After getting up and casually washing up, Jiang Zhao didn’t even have breakfast before Ye Qianyun dragged him out of the house and into a car, heading to a prearranged café.Full novel: After Letting My Guard Down, I Got Trapped by a Yandere CEO — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

…

In the bustling center of Jinling, through a quiet and secluded alley, an antique-style café appeared before them.

The place was peaceful, almost completely isolated from the city’s noise. With the rich aroma of coffee lingering in the air, it was a popular spot for those in the know.

Inside, Jiang Zhao and Ye Qianyun sipped coffee while chewing on fried dough sticks, a combination completely out of sync with the atmosphere of the café.

“I’m meeting my fiancée. Why are you here?” Jiang Zhao glanced at Ye Qianyun, who was eating with zero image. No one would’ve believed this guy was the CEO of a large corporation.

Ye Qianyun swallowed the last bite and grinned, “I was afraid you’d be lonely, so I came to keep you company.”

Jiang Zhao snorted in disbelief.

This guy was definitely hiding something—probably related to that Tang family heiress.

While the two of them waited idly, the doorbell above the café chimed. A woman entered.

Shoulder-length short hair, a classic pointed chin, flawless complexion with light makeup, dressed in a yellow trench coat and fitted jeans—she gave off a very capable aura at first glance.

“She’s here, that’s Tang Guo,” Ye Qianyun nudged Jiang Zhao and gestured toward the entrance, then waved to the woman with a smile, “Little Guozi, long time no see!”

Noticing Jiang Zhao’s rather handsome face, she spoke calmly, “Nice to meet you. I’m Tang Guo.”

“Jiang Zhao.”

After a brief exchange of names, Tang Guo got straight to the point, “I don’t object to this engagement, but I’d prefer to spend some time getting to know you before deciding on marriage.”

Hearing that, Jiang Zhao’s mental script shattered. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.

Shouldn’t she be trying to break off the engagement?

“Can I ask… why you don’t object?” Jiang Zhao asked tentatively.

Tang Guo’s expression didn’t change. She blinked and replied flatly, “Our families are well-matched. Marrying you could help me go further in life. As long as your character’s decent, I don’t mind the engagement.”

With just that one sentence, Jiang Zhao instantly understood what kind of person she was.

On the scale between career and romance, Tang Guo clearly leaned toward the former—completely opposite of Qin Lingxue.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Zhao said slowly, “Actually… I have a girlfriend.”

At those words, Tang Guo’s ever-calm face finally showed a flicker of surprise. She had considered many possible scenarios before coming, but this wasn’t one of them.

In her mind, with her background and accomplishments, no man would reject this marriage.

“I can tell—your girlfriend must be quite exceptional. Having a boyfriend like you, I’d love to meet her someday,” Tang Guo smiled faintly.

Jiang Zhao waved his hand, “Not really. She’s lazy and has a terrible temper—completely incomparable to you, Miss Tang.”

Tang Guo said lightly, “Just call me Tang Guo. Even if we’re not engaged, we can still be friends.”

Jiang Zhao was just about to nod when Ye Qianyun shoved him aside and grinned at Tang Guo, “Little Guozi, how’s your sister’s health lately? How were the supplements I sent her recently?”

Tang Guo’s smile faded. Her expression turned neutral. “My dad said they tasted great. He wants you to deliver them in person next time. He wants to ‘take care’ of you himself and let you experience the wrath of Seven Wolves.”

Ye Qianyun’s grin froze. He scratched his head awkwardly, “On second thought, I think I’ll pass. This delicate skin of mine can’t take it.”

It was obvious—Ye Qianyun had fallen for Tang Guo’s sister. Unfortunately, her father wasn’t easy to get past.

After chatting casually for a bit longer, the three of them finally left the café.

That evening, the Ye family held a banquet in Jiang Zhao’s honor, inviting many of Jinling’s prominent business figures.

…

Back in Jiangnan City, Biyu Bay Villa.

Unable to bear the loneliness any longer, Qin Lingxue finally lost her patience. Though it had only been a day, that was still 720 minutes, 43,200 seconds!

“Uncle Fu! Ready the car!”

“We’re going to Jinling to drag that damn Jiang Zhao back!”
