Early the next morning, Lin Mo had already cleaned up the dishes.

He was in the bedroom changing into something more suitable to wear.

A familiar voice rang out from outside the bedroom. Xia Shiya was standing in the second-floor living room, looking around for him.

Hearing her, Lin Mo quickly finished dressing and walked out.

“Sister Shiya, I’m here.”

“Wow… Mr. Silent, you look way too handsome today!”

Xia Shiya could not help but praise him when she saw him fully dressed.

Even Su Qianqian, who had been reading nearby, lifted her head and glanced at him, a trace of surprise flashing in her eyes.

She had not expected him to look this handsome.

Indeed, Lin Mo’s appearance was beyond reproach.

Even without much effort, he was strikingly good-looking.

Now that he had put some thought into his outfit, he was even more eye-catching.

“Sister Shiya, let’s go.”

Lin Mo merely smiled lightly at her praise.

That smile, combined with the sunlight streaming through the window onto his face, made him look like the male lead stepping straight out of a novel.

Xia Shiya stared blankly for a moment, her cheeks heating up.

“Sister Shiya?”

Seeing her silent, Lin Mo waved a hand in front of her eyes.

“Ah… right. Let’s go.”

“Qianqian, we’re leaving.”

With that, Lin Mo prepared to follow Xia Shiya out.

“Wait. You two… how long are you planning to be out?”

Su Qianqian suddenly spoke from behind them, as if the words had slipped out unconsciously.

“Well, that depends on our mood.”

Xia Shiya smiled playfully.

Su Qianqian glanced at Lin Mo and said casually, “Remember to come back early and cook for me.”

“Oh, okay.”

Lin Mo agreed.

As they walked away, Xia Shiya pouted in dissatisfaction.

After they left, Su Qianqian murmured to herself, “Looks like I overthought it. How could Shiya really fall for Lin Mo…”

She shook her head and returned to her book.

When she had seen Xia Shiya blush just now, her heart had nearly leapt into her throat.

For a moment, she had actually thought Xia Shiya truly liked Lin Mo.

That thought had made her chest tighten uncomfortably.

But she quickly dismissed it.

Xia Shiya was her best friend. How could she like a man who had once been married to her?

Besides, Xia Shiya came from a wealthy family. She could find any kind of man she wanted. There was no reason to waste time on Lin Mo.

Still… why had she been worried that Xia Shiya might like him?

“Sister Shiya, weren’t we going shopping?”

At the entrance of the shopping mall, Lin Mo looked at Xia Shiya in confusion.

She smiled. “Yes.”

“Then why are we in a men’s clothing store?”

“Well… just don’t worry about it. Just remember you’re here to shop with me.”

Her cheeks flushed slightly as she pulled him inside.

Lin Mo had no choice but to follow.

“Miss Xia, you’re here.”

The manager immediately greeted her, clearly recognizing her.

She glanced at Lin Mo with a smile.

He nodded and sat down on the sofa, idly scrolling through his phone.

“Hey? Lin Mo? What are you doing here?”

A familiar voice suddenly sounded.

Looking up, Lin Mo saw Jiang Qingyue standing in front of him.

He quickly stood and pointed in Xia Shiya’s direction. “I’m here shopping with a friend.”

“Shopping with a friend? What friend?”

Jiang Qingyue stood on tiptoe to look, but saw no one.

“Sister Qingyue, what are you doing here?” Lin Mo asked instead, not elaborating about Xia Shiya.

Jiang Qingyue seemed to remember something and blushed slightly. “Last time I invited you to dinner and it didn’t work out, so I wanted to buy you a set of clothes.”

“That’s not necessary, Sister Qingyue. I was the one who left halfway through. I already felt bad about it.”

Lin Mo scratched his head awkwardly.

Over the past three years, Jiang Qingyue had helped him a lot.

Especially when he was injured, she had run around taking care of things for him.

He had never properly thanked her.

How could he let her spend money on him now?

“It’s fine. Just think of it as a gift from me.”

She smiled warmly.

“Th—”

“Mr. Silent, come try this on.”

Before he could finish, Xia Shiya waved at him.

Jiang Qingyue’s smile faded instantly when she saw another woman calling him.

At the same time, Xia Shiya noticed Jiang Qingyue and walked over quickly.

“Mr. Silent, who’s she?”

Xia Shiya stared at Jiang Qingyue.

“She’s Jiang Qingyue, my good friend,” Lin Mo explained, then gestured toward Xia Shiya. “Sister Qingyue, this is Xia Shiya. She’s also my good friend.”

“Oh, I see. Are you done chatting? If so, come try on the clothes.”

Xia Shiya withdrew her gaze and smiled at Lin Mo.

“Sister Shiya, why do I need to try them?”

“Silly. Of course I bought them for you.”

Jiang Qingyue’s expression darkened slightly.

That sentence felt deliberately aimed at her.

“I can’t accept this, Sister Shiya.”

Lin Mo refused firmly.

“Just try it on. I rarely buy you anything. At least give me that much face.”

In a coaxing tone, Xia Shiya pushed him into the fitting room.

After he went in, she turned to Jiang Qingyue, her eyes filled with hostility.

“What’s your relationship with him?”

“That’s none of your business,” Jiang Qingyue replied casually.

Xia Shiya’s chest rose and fell in anger. “He’s a married man.”

“So what? An unhappy marriage is better ended sooner rather than later.”

Without sparing her a glance, Jiang Qingyue continued browsing, staying close to the fitting room.

Xia Shiya stomped her foot in frustration.

Then she seemed to think of something, secretly took a photo of Jiang Qingyue, and sent it to Su Qianqian.

Xia Shiya: Qianqian, is this the woman you were talking about?

At that moment, Lin Mo came out of the fitting room.

Xia Shiya truly had good taste.

If his earlier outfit made him look like a refined male lead from a novel, this one made him look like a domineering CEO.

The black suit fit him perfectly.

Combined with his reserved demeanor, the aura was undeniable.

“Lin Mo, you look so handsome.”

Xia Shiya stepped forward, staring openly.

Jiang Qingyue rolled her eyes, jealousy clear in her gaze.

“It’s Sister Shiya’s good taste,” Lin Mo said shyly.

Just then, his phone rang.

“Hello, Qianqian? What’s wrong?”

“Come home.”

“…Why?”

He frowned in confusion.

“There’s no reason. Come home immediately.”

Without giving him a chance to argue, she hung up.

Lin Mo sighed and briefly explained to Xia Shiya.

“Ah… I shouldn’t have told Qianqian.”

Xia Shiya muttered, dejected.

Su Qianqian must have seen the photo and rushed him back.

After all, she had said that woman was not good.

“It’s too late. Sister Shiya, I’ll head back first.”

He turned to leave.

Xia Shiya grabbed his arm, looking dispirited. “Forget it. Wait. I’ll drive you back.”

She picked up the packaged clothes and hurried out with him.

“Wait.”

Jiang Qingyue suddenly ran up behind them and stuffed the packaged clothes she had bought into Lin Mo’s hands.

“No refusing. Just think of it as a gift.”

Then she ran off.

Xia Shiya nearly ground her teeth in anger but could only leave with Lin Mo.

Twenty minutes later, her car stopped in front of Su Qianqian’s villa.

“Sister Shiya, I’ll go first. We can shop again next time.”

Lin Mo waved and ran inside without looking back.

Xia Shiya sighed helplessly and drove away.

Upstairs, Lin Mo stood before Su Qianqian, slightly out of breath. “Qianqian, what did you need me for?”

Her gaze fell on the shopping bags in his hands, her expression icy. “What are those?”

“These? Sister Shiya and Sister Qingyue bought me some clothes.”

He lifted the bags casually.

Her face grew even colder.

“Qianqian, are you feeling unwell?” he asked cautiously.

She glanced at him and said flatly, “From now until the contract ends, you’re not going anywhere. Stay home and take care of me.”

“…Alright.”

What choice did he have? He had taken her money.

Besides, there was only one day left on the contract.

It would pass quickly.

A door slammed shut, ending their conversation.

Su Qianqian returned to her bedroom and did not come out again.
