SAVANNA (VERONICA)

My words, once again brought the stunned silence to the room.

The professor, who still looked proud, now completely turned red.Full novel: After My Death, I Became A Genius — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Even the students fell silent with eyes widened.

“Wha-at did you say?” He gasped.

I straightened my back, not bothering to move my gaze.

“I said, it’s okay to accept defeat sometimes, professor…”

“What’s she saying!?”

“Seems like she lost her senses after hitting her head!”

“Wow!

Who’s this girl really!?” — Whispers spread among the students and professor Robert looked mortified at the insult.

“You!?— How dare you!?” He barked out.

Eyes roaming on the class as he realized his image was just bruised by a fat, idiot girl.

His eyes turned red.

“You insolent girl!

I’ll complain to your father!”

“Whatever.” I shrugged only, and that seemed to completely break him.

“GET FUKING LOST OF MY CLASS!” He growled out, forgetting all the manners at the moment, and even before he could utter those words, I had already stood up knowing the outcome and slowly, unbothered, I walked out of the classroom.

I wasn’t enjoying sitting there anyway, I had more important problems at hand.

Money.

I must make enough money…

_________

I didn’t return home immediately, and wandered around to see if there was any way to earn money, yet I couldn’t find anything except a few poorly paid part-time jobs.

Damn!

Monaco or Manhattan was much more productive than Bronx.

This place was full of poverty, even main jobs paid less than expectations.

By the time I reached home, the quiet city streets were already settling into evening silence.

Mom wasn’t home yet, and Ethan was busy with his homework.

So, I changed into simple running clothes, which was her grey sweatshirts and pants and stepped outside again.

Running had become a part of my routine since I arrived in this body. New chapters come out on g.com first.

Veronica’s previous lifestyle had left her with a heavy weight base that made even simple movement exhausting.

But the body was gradually changing.

Day by day, the fat that once hung heavily around my waist and hips had begun to disappear.

Tonight, when I was wearing the pants before leaving the house, I noticed something new…

The pants that used to cling tightly around my waist now hung loosely enough that they would slide down without being tightened around.

The realization made me pause for a moment.

“So much weight had already disappeared.

Good.”

The road outside the small city stretched into darkness as night settled fully over the fields.

The air of the area itself filled with poverty.

Only a few scattered streetlights illuminated the path ahead, their soft golden glow weak against the deep shadows surrounding them.

Though the world here seemed more serene than in Monaco or Manhattan, almost tranquil in its quietness.

I ran through the cool night air that hit my face.

But, what was hitting more was the lack of sources to make money.

Suddenly, my sharp ears caught it…

A strange sound.

It was faint at first— something between a groan and a strained breath.

A frown creased my brow as I paused and looked around..

This place rarely produced noises like that at night.

Besides, I saw nothing.

Then, I heard it again…

This time the sound came from the side of the road, somewhere near the cluster of bushes and old stone walls bordering the farmland.

Frowning, I walked closer, my trained gaze scanning the shadows carefully.

And, I saw him.

A young man— lay collapsed on the ground.

His body is partially concealed within the tall grass.

One hand was pressed firmly against his waist, and even in the faint light, I could see the dark stain expanding across the fabric beneath his fingers.

Blood…

The man, perhaps heard my footsteps, and looked up.

For a brief moment, our eyes met.

His expression sharpened instantly when he realized someone had found him.

The weakness in his body was obvious— his breathing was uneven, his face pale with pain— but the wariness in his gaze remained sharp and alert.

I knew that gaze— he seemed someone who was used to dangers like this.

I studied him quietly.

Even in the dark, something about his face seemed quite familiar.

I stepped a bit closer and suddenly recognized him…

Nathaniel Abraham.

The Abraham family was one of the Wealthiest dominants in the business industry.

They had more than anyone could ask for.

If I was not wrong, wasn’t he the spoiled nephew of Tycoon Victor Abraham?

My gaze drifted back to his wound, and then to his face.

And slowly, the corner of my lips twitched slowly with a great idea.

‘Well, well, seems like, my money issue is soon to be resolved…’
