Catcoin was a fictional cryptocurrency, much like Bitcoin.
It had been around for three years, but had never really taken off. Even its founder had lost patience and sold out early.
But this afternoon, Jordan, one of the world’s richest men, would buy five billion dollars’ worth of Catcoin.
A flood of money poured in, and Catcoin’s price soared. In just two days, it went from one dollar per coin to ten.
In his previous life, Li Feng had been watching this news when he got the call from the police station. At the time, he’d cursed those people for having money to burn on useless virtual currency.

Li Feng beckoned to her. “An’an, come eat some meat.”
In her babyish voice, An’an asked, “Daddy, are you really giving me meat?”
Li Feng did his best to smile gently. “It’s all for you two.”
The little girl was so tempted that she started toddling forward, but Xiaoze grabbed her and pulled her back. “An’an, don’t go! He’s lying to you.”
Three-year-old An’an looked torn as she glanced from the meat to her usually fierce father. Then she turned and clutched four-year-old Xiaoze’s clothes.
“I’ll listen to Big Brother. An’an won’t eat meat. An’an doesn’t want to get hit.”
Li Feng’s heart clenched.
The children were afraid of being beaten.
In his previous life, whenever he bought something tasty, he kept it all to himself.
When the children got hungry and asked him for food, all they ever got in return was a vicious beating.
Now, even though he had tried to make peace with them, they still hid whenever they saw him, not daring to go near him at all.
The smell kept wafting toward the children. Xiaoze secretly swallowed, then pretended to be a grown-up and stroked his little sister’s head to comfort her. “Be good, An’an. When I grow up, I’ll buy you meat every day.”
An’an’s eyes lit up. “Really? When will we be grown-ups?”
“When I’m as big as Mom,” Xiaoze replied.
An’an lowered her head in disappointment. “That’ll take so long.”
Li Feng’s heart ached.
Other people’s children cuddled up in their parents’ arms and begged for affection, while his couldn’t even get enough to eat, let alone meat.

Li Feng cursed himself silently, then carried the plate over to the children.
He squatted down and held a piece of meat to An’an’s lips with his chopsticks.
Xiaoze’s little face went pale with fright. He pulled his sister behind him and asked Li Feng in panic, “What are you doing? You—you’re not allowed to hit An’an again!”
“Daddy swears he’ll never hit An’an or Xiaoze again!” Li Feng vowed, his expression earnest.
Xiaoze froze.
He had never seen his father this gentle before.
But he quickly grew wary again. “A-are you going to sell us?”
Li Feng said helplessly, “Selling children is against the law. The police would arrest me and send me to prison.”
Seeing that he couldn’t get An’an to take a bite, he held the meat to Xiaoze’s lips instead. “I went out of my way to buy this for you two. Try some. The meat’s delicious.”
Xiaoze, who hadn’t eaten meat in a long time, swallowed, then stubbornly turned his face away.
An’an peeked out from behind him and murmured, “It smells so good…”
Li Feng took the chance to bring the meat to her lips. “It tastes even better.”
An’an looked pleadingly at Xiaoze.
Xiaoze’s heart softened. “You can have one bite.”
If Dad hit An’an, Xiaoze could protect her right away.
An’an watched Li Feng cautiously. After hesitating for a long while, she finally bit into the slice of lean pork.
She took just one bite, then darted back behind Xiaoze.
