“Lang Man!”
The moment Bu Yu heard Lang Man’s voice, his heart stirred. He instinctively turned his head to look at her.
Their eyes met. They held each other’s gaze for a few seconds before Lang Man was the first to look away.
Director Feng was still standing there in a daze. After coming back to his senses, he slowly turned to Lang Man and said, “Student Lang Man, what did you just say?”
Lang Man’s tone was calm and steady as she replied, “Director Feng, do you need me to repeat it?”
“Lang Man, if Bu Yu threatened you, you can say it. The school will stand up for you!”
“No.”
To Director Feng’s surprise, Lang Man answered without hesitation.
“Alright, alright. Since you’ve said so yourself, then…” Director Feng gave Bu Yu a long, meaningful look. “Go inside and get to class.”
Director Feng left. At that moment, only Lang Man and Bu Yu remained at the classroom door.
“Well, um… thanks,” Bu Yu said first, scratching his head awkwardly.
“No need to thank me. It was nothing.”
Bu Yu fell silent.
What is this? She even stole my line? So cold and proud.
He could not help but complain inwardly about Lang Man, though she naturally had no idea.
“What are you two doing here?”
A puzzled voice suddenly sounded.
The moment Bu Yu heard it, he frowned slightly. Right now, he just wanted to hurry back to the classroom.
“Huh? Bu Yu?!”
When Su Muwan walked closer and saw clearly that the person standing at the door was Bu Yu, she instantly flared up.
“Bu Yu, you’d better explain yourself today. Why did you stand me up?”
“Stand you up? Where’s the pigeon?”
“You!” Su Muwan was so angry she could barely speak. “Still pretending to be clueless, are you?”
Lang Man disliked the scene. Without saying a word, she walked into the classroom and returned to her seat.
“Su Muwan, in that phone call, the last word I said was never ‘me,’ it was ‘spouse.’ If you wanted someone to give you a ride, you should’ve looked for your ‘spouse,’ not me.”
“Your spouse, and your official match, Lin Yifei.”
Lin Yifei was a sports student from Senior Year Class Four. He liked Su Muwan, and unlike Bu Yu’s situation, Su Muwan liked him too.
Before the college entrance exam, Su Muwan liked his abs because they were strong and well-defined. After the exam, she admired his achievements. He successfully passed the exam, gained great recognition, and had a promising future ahead.
“Lin Yifei? I have nothing to do with him…” Su Muwan suddenly felt guilty.
“You don’t need to say that to me, and there’s no point in saying it. Whether what you’re saying is true or false doesn’t matter to me anymore. Since yesterday, anything about you has nothing to do with me.”
“Bu Yu! You… what’s wrong with you today?”
Su Muwan looked at him in disbelief. She felt as though he had become a completely different person overnight, impossible to read.
“We’re not the same kind of people anymore.”
“Not the same kind of people?” Su Muwan froze for a moment, then bit her lip and stared at him. “Bu Yu, you’d better think carefully. If you keep treating me like this, then I won’t talk to you anymore!”
She threw out the threat decisively. She refused to believe Bu Yu could keep pretending.
In her mind, it was impossible for someone to change so drastically in just one night. This was nothing more than playing hard to get. If she ignored him for a while, he would obediently come back.
“Oh? That sounds great.”
With a hint of mockery in his voice, Bu Yu walked into the classroom, leaving Su Muwan standing outside with a stunned expression.
He glanced at Lang Man, who was bent over her desk, studying intently without even the slightest intention of looking up. Bu Yu withdrew his gaze and returned to his seat.
Only then did Su Muwan step into the classroom, though her expression was clearly unpleasant.
“Hey, why did Campus Belle Su Muwan arrive so late too?”
“I just saw Bu Yu talking to Campus Belle Su Muwan at the door. Looks like he made her upset.”
“No way. Jinling’s Number One Simp Bu Yu can actually affect Campus Belle Su Muwan’s mood? That’s hard to believe.”
“True, but it’s also rare for the top student Lang Man to be late.”
“Wait… Lang Man was late too? Something’s off. There’s definitely something going on between those three.”
“Oh? Tell us, tell us.”
“Wait until after class. I’ll break it down for you.”
As one student spoke, curiosity spread among the others. They all began gossiping about Bu Yu and the two girls.
Su Muwan returned to her seat. Listening to the faint whispers around her, the more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She suddenly turned her head and glared at Bu Yu, but he did not notice.
Bu Yu looked at the chaotic pile of textbooks on his desk and the trash that had accumulated in his drawer for who knew how long. The corner of his mouth twitched.
“How much did I hate studying in my previous life…”
He then glanced at Lang Man’s neatly arranged textbooks.
“What is this sudden sense of inferiority…”
As he continued looking, his gaze unconsciously drifted upward and stopped on Lang Man’s cool, delicate face.
At that moment, she was writing rapidly in her notebook, her expression serious and focused.
In the next second, Lang Man’s brows furrowed slightly. It was unclear whether she had encountered a difficult problem or sensed Bu Yu’s gaze.
That subtle movement startled Bu Yu, and he quickly looked away, as if he had been caught doing something shameful.
“Bu Yu…”
What Bu Yu did not know was that Su Muwan, sitting several rows away, had already been grinding her teeth. She had clearly seen his earlier glance.
“So that’s how it is. It’s not that your love disappeared. It just shifted to someone else.”
Just then, the teacher for this period finally arrived in the classroom with a stack of books.
“Sorry, everyone. Director Feng needed a few minutes earlier to handle something, so I came a bit late.”
“Now take out the test paper that was assigned last night. I’m going to check it.”
“Damn it!”
Bu Yu instantly stiffened. Last night he had been busy dealing with Lang Man’s matter and had completely forgotten about this.
With a pained expression, he opened his backpack. To his surprise, the moment he unzipped it, a fragrant aroma wafted out.
He looked carefully. Inside was breakfast: five steaming buns, three crispy fried dough sticks, and a cup of soy milk.
“Must’ve been the Butler. He probably bought this at early dawn and secretly put it in my bag. No wonder he said that in the car.”
Bu Yu placed the bag of breakfast into his drawer, then pulled out the wrinkled test paper from his bag.
“Tsk.”
He smoothed out the crumpled paper. Seeing it blank and untouched, not a single word written, Bu Yu suddenly let out a faint laugh.
This time, however, it was a helpless laugh.
