Li Sha’s alcohol tolerance was rather poor. After having a few drinks with business partners that evening, she was already staggering on the way back, her body swaying uncontrollably from the intoxication.

However, she had a rather unusual ability.

Even though her body had long stopped obeying her, her mind still retained a faint thread of clarity.Full novel: After Self-Discipline Made Me Unstoppable, My Ex-Girlfriend Regretted It in Tears — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

That sliver of awareness allowed her to barely resist the suited man trying to take advantage of her. She struggled to stop him from dragging her away.

But her body simply wouldn’t cooperate.

No matter how anxious or wronged she felt, her arms were limp and powerless. She couldn’t push him away at all.

“My husband… where’s my husband…”

In desperation, Li Sha tried to act clever, attempting to bluff him into leaving.

But her tongue refused to cooperate as well.

Her speech was slurred, the words unclear. Her breathing was uneven, and what came out was a complete mess.

She had wanted to say, “My husband is coming soon,” but the last few words dissolved into a vague, nasal murmur.

That was nowhere near enough to scare off someone with ill intentions.

Instead, the suited man grew even more excited. Before he could even drag her into the alley, his trembling hand was already reaching toward her well-curved body.

Despair swallowed Li Sha whole.

A clear tear slipped from the corner of her eye, tracing a path down her flawless face.

At that moment, a wheat-colored arm suddenly appeared before her.

The suited man’s wrist was seized midair.

“Ah! What are you doing?” the man cried out in pain.

He tried to shake free, but Li Bai’s grip was like a steel clamp, locking his wrist in place so tightly he couldn’t move at all.

“This is my friend. What do you think you’re doing?” Li Bai said coldly.

His voice was like a spring appearing in an endless desert.

For Li Sha, who had nearly lost all hope, it brought back a fragile chance to struggle.

The suited man, however, was not so easily intimidated.

“Friend? Do you even know her name? Stop spouting nonsense!”

Li Bai had already seen through his bluster.

“Oh? Then do you know her name? My friend is drunk, and you want to take advantage of her? Are you letting go or not?”

As he spoke, the muscles in his arm tensed sharply.

The suited man cried out again in pain. His grip loosened involuntarily, and Li Sha collapsed like a limp rag.

Li Bai shoved the man aside and bent down to support her.

Li Sha forced her heavy eyelids open. Through her blurred vision, Li Bai’s face appeared vaguely.

He looked familiar… but who was he?

Her mind was sluggish, barely functioning. Yet seeing someone she recognized felt like grabbing onto a lifeline while drowning.

“Help… help me… I don’t know him…”

She didn’t even know if the words came out, but her hand clung weakly to Li Bai’s arm as she murmured.

“Don’t worry. I’ll take you back,” Li Bai said, patting the back of her hand.

Then he raised his head, his gaze turning sharp as he stared at the suited man.

The man hesitated, unwilling to give up so easily, as if considering whether to fight for her.

“You want to fight? Take a good look at yourself first and see if that twig-like body of yours can handle it,” Li Bai sneered.

He flexed his biceps, firm as stone.

After gaining 5 points in strength, his physique had clearly improved. His muscles were well-defined and solid, like someone who had spent years training in the gym. Though not massive, they were powerful and sharply outlined.

Combined with the sleeveless sports vest he was wearing, his presence carried a raw, athletic intensity.

That oppressive aura immediately crushed the suited man’s courage.

“Damn brat… take her if you want…” the man muttered resentfully before slipping away.

With the immediate danger gone, Li Sha relaxed slightly. At once, the alcohol surged back into her head, and everything became hazy again.

When she regained a faint bit of awareness, she realized the surroundings had become familiar.

It seemed… she was back at the hotel?

The “familiar” person beside her hadn’t left. That same wheat-colored skin was still there.

Am I safe now?

Before she could even feel relieved, a hand suddenly began searching over her body.

“N-no…”

She instinctively resisted.

“No what? I’m looking for your room card. Miss, where’s your card?” Li Bai said.

He had already brought her up to the eighth floor. Knowing she lived next door, he began searching for her keycard.

Li Sha couldn’t help him at all.

Fortunately, the card was in the back pocket of her jeans.

Li Bai reached in and pulled it out.

In the process, he inevitably felt that astonishing elasticity.

“Mmm…”

The girl let out a soft, alluring murmur near his ear, her breath warm and fragrant.

He swiped the card, opened the door, and closed it behind them…

At this point, Li Sha was completely drunk. Her legs could no longer support her, and even her consciousness was slipping away.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, the world spun, and she cried out in alarm.

It wasn’t dizziness from alcohol.

She had been lifted—her legs scooped up into someone’s arms.

The shock brought back a sliver of clarity.

She forced her eyes open, looking hazily at Li Bai, who was holding her.

She remembered now… this man… wasn’t he the one next door… the guy who had smashed through the wall despite having a terminal illness?

Why was he here?

Was he the one who saved her?

Li Sha stared blankly at his side profile, her thoughts muddled and slow.

At that moment, Li Bai bent down and placed her onto the soft bed.

But she was still clinging tightly to his neck.

The exaggerated sense of falling caused by the alcohol made her think she was about to drop.

She held on desperately, unwilling to let go.

Li Bai clearly hadn’t expected her to hold on so tightly.

The moment he set her down and released his hands, she suddenly tugged his neck.

Caught off balance, Li Bai fell forward, pressing down firmly onto Li Sha, who was curled up like a small cat beneath him.

Li Sha had no idea it was her own doing.

In her hazy consciousness, she was suddenly startled.

What is he trying to do?

Even though Li Bai had showered and changed after his evening run, the strong scent of masculine hormones still lingered on him, invading her senses.

To her surprise, she didn’t find it unpleasant.

On the contrary, it was like a subtle cologne, making her feel strangely intoxicated.

Her weak hands rested against his firm chest and sharply defined abs.

Strangely, even though she couldn’t move, the sensation beneath her palms was incredibly clear.

He’s so strong…

A trace of shy warmth, like a drop of dew falling onto a still pond, rippled through her heart.

The blurred spring dream from last night seemed to resurface.

Would he pin me to the wall like a specimen too…

Her breathing became completely disordered, her face flushing even deeper.

That flush spread down her swan-like neck.

Her full curves rose and fell unsteadily, as if foreshadowing an impending storm…

In such a moment, the scene was irresistibly alluring.
