There were around 1,600 students in the senior year at Yahua High School, and Cheng Ye ranked beyond the thousandth place in every exam.

Class 1 of the senior year was the top elite class, with just over thirty students.

Cheng Ye ranked last in the class, severely dragging down its overall performance. The second-to-last student could still consistently rank around 50th in the entire school.Full novel: After Severing Ties, Do You Really Think I’d Still Tolerate You? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Only Cheng Ye was an anomaly, scoring absurdly low rankings beyond the thousandth place.

So everyone unanimously believed that the only reason Cheng Ye got into the elite class was because the Cheng family had pulled strings and used connections.

Unlike Cheng Fenghao, who entered the elite class purely through his own ability. Since his first year, he had consistently held first place in the entire school, with Chu Xiyan always second.

The top two positions had always belonged to Cheng Fenghao and Chu Xiyan, without exception.

The physics competition was an internal school event. As a century-old prestigious school, Yahua High had been holding it for over sixty years.

The physics department teachers loved setting tricky, abnormal questions.

It was far more difficult than regular midterm or final exams.

There were no multiple-choice questions, no fill-in-the-blank sections—only calculation problems and experimental analysis questions.

Luck had no place in such a competition.

If Cheng Ye participated, with his bottom-tier performance, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to score a zero.

Thinking of this, the buzz-cut boy burst into laughter. “Cheng Ye, you entering the competition is no different from a clown performing on stage. Dropping out early is the smartest choice.”

“Done talking?” Cheng Ye stood up lazily, hands in his pockets as he walked toward him. “If your mouth’s still free, go lick a toilet.”

The buzz-cut boy’s face turned dark. “Who are you calling a toilet licker?!”

Cheng Ye remained expressionless. “You can’t even understand human speech. That’s really pitiful.”

Furious, the buzz-cut boy rolled up his sleeves and threw a punch at Cheng Ye’s face.

However, Cheng Ye reacted faster. He sidestepped lightly, dodging the attack, and in one swift motion grabbed the boy’s collar, pulling his center of gravity forward.

Terror instantly filled the boy’s face. Just as he thought he was about to fall face-first, Cheng Ye suddenly released his grip, then pressed his palm against the side of his head, twisting his neck sideways and slamming his head onto the nearby desk.

Bang—

The force was brutal. The buzz-cut boy’s vision went dark, his ears ringing.

One side of his head was pressed firmly against the desk, while the other was forcefully held down by Cheng Ye’s hand. He grimaced in pain, feeling as though his skull was about to be crushed.

He tried to threaten him. “Cheng Ye, let me go right now, or else—”

Cheng Ye curled his lips into a playful smile and repeatedly smashed his head against the desk.

Blood began to flow. The boy no longer had any arrogance left, only desperate cries of pain. “Cheng Ye, I won’t dare again! Please let me go!”

The surrounding students all gasped, no longer daring to mock Cheng Ye.

The classroom fell into a suffocating silence.

After an unknown amount of time, Cheng Ye seemed satisfied. He slowly released him.

The buzz-cut boy, now free, immediately roared angrily, “Cheng Ye, you’re openly bullying a classmate! I’m going to report you to the principal. Just wait to be expelled!”

Cheng Ye smiled faintly and returned lazily to his seat. Before going to bed last night, he had thoroughly read through the school regulations and memorized them completely.

Now, they came in handy.

Cheng Ye spoke word by word, “School Rule Article 102: Verbal abuse toward classmates results in a major demerit, a parent meeting, and copying a 10,000-word self-reflection.”

“School Rule Article 576: Mocking and ridiculing others, causing psychological harm, results in a major demerit, a parent meeting, and two months of cleaning school toilets.”

“School Rule Article 13: Two major demerits allow the school to expel a student.”

Cheng Ye lifted his eyelids slightly, his tone lazy. “Go ahead and report me. At worst, we both go down together.”

Hearing this, the buzz-cut boy was completely dumbfounded.

What the hell?!

He hurriedly pulled out a green “Student Handbook” from his desk and flipped to the relevant pages. Every word Cheng Ye said matched exactly.

Damn it!

He had just been beaten for nothing?!

He had been secretly delighted at the chance to get Cheng Ye expelled from Yahua High, only to be outplayed by him using the school rules.

He couldn’t out-argue him, couldn’t beat him, and now couldn’t even report him!

The buzz-cut boy felt utterly humiliated.

Clutching his bleeding head, he wanted to go to the infirmary.

At that moment, the class bell rang.

The homeroom teacher walked in, holding a stack of test papers. Seeing the blood streaming from his head, she was startled. “Chen Yang, what happened? Did someone hit you?!”

Chen Yang was dizzy with anger but couldn’t tell the truth. “No, I slipped in the stairwell and hit my head.”

The students below had all been mocking Cheng Ye earlier. None of them wanted to receive a major demerit or have their parents called.

No one spoke. They all remained silent.

“Chu Xiyan, as class monitor, take him to the infirmary. If it’s serious, go to the central hospital,” the homeroom teacher instructed.

“Okay, teacher.” Chu Xiyan frowned as she stood up. She had witnessed the entire conflict between Cheng Ye and Chen Yang.

To be honest, she was extremely shocked.

Cheng Ye had used a loophole in the school rules to beat Chen Yang openly and still get away unscathed.

It had to be said, Cheng Ye was incredibly cunning.

She shot Cheng Ye an annoyed glance before leading the tearful Chen Yang out of the classroom.

The homeroom teacher placed the thick stack of papers on the podium and smiled. “We have a transfer student joining our class.”

As she spoke, she gestured outside. “Come in.”

A beautiful girl in a school uniform walked in.

Her features were delicate, her hair tied in a neat bun, giving her a gentle and adorable appearance.

Her bare face revealed bright, clear almond-shaped eyes, her skin fair and smooth, and her smile sweet and refined.

The boys in the class stared, completely stunned.

She was… too beautiful.

Their protective instincts surged uncontrollably.

She was even more stunning than Chu Xiyan, who was known as the “number one beauty in the capital.”

When had such a beauty appeared in the capital?!

How did they not know?!

The girl picked up a piece of chalk and wrote her name on the blackboard in elegant script—

Jiang Mian.

Not only the boys, even the girls were stunned.

Jiang Mian had a naturally pleasing appearance. She was both pretty and cute, yet carried a subtle allure that was both pure and captivating.

“Student Jiang, there’s an empty seat next to Cheng Ye. Sit there,” the homeroom teacher said, recalling the request from Jiang Mian’s brother, Jiang Shiyan.

Cheng Ye had been focused on solving problems. Hearing his name, he slowly raised his eyes and saw Jiang Mian on the podium, looking at him with a hint of playful ambiguity.

Hmm?

Cheng Ye felt puzzled. Why had the factory owner’s daughter transferred into his class?
