After the words fell, the dim space was as silent as death, suffocating.

Wen Zhan turned his gaze to her, his tone even colder: “What’s wrong with you in the middle of the night?”

“I’m serious,” Mu Wanqing replied calmly, her mind filled with images of him secretly meeting Lu Kejun late into the night and Lu Kejun’s humiliating taunts.Full novel: After the Divorce, the Scumbag Dad Dreams of Stealing Mommy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

What was the point of maintaining such a marriage?

“Don’t worry, I’ll explain it to Grandpa. I’ll say I’m the one who wants the divorce, it has nothing to do with you,” she continued unhurriedly. After saying this, she lifted the thin blanket with one hand. “I’ll sleep somewhere else tonight so I won’t disturb you.”

Before she could finish speaking, she got up to leave, but as soon as she rose, a force in the darkness roughly pulled her back and pressed her fiercely onto the bed.

“Ah—”

Mu Wanqing was dazed by the fall. When her vision cleared, she saw a dark figure looming over her, seething with anger.

Instantly, she lost her composure, her heart racing in panic: “Wen Zhan, what are you doing! The child is right beside us!”

She was afraid he would hurt the child in his drunken rage.

The man said coldly, “Divorce? You’ve already given birth to a child. Isn’t it all about gaining status through one’s son? What a pity to divorce now.”

“I didn’t! The pregnancy was an accident! You’re the one to blame, so why are you accusing me?” she retorted in a low, angry voice.

“An accident? If you didn’t want to get pregnant, there were plenty of ways to avoid it.”

“I told you, I took the pill!”

“Hah!” Wen Zhan scoffed lightly, clearly still unconvinced.

He had underestimated this woman back then, and in a moment of carelessness, he had been trapped by her using the child.

Mu Wanqing knew he still didn’t believe her and was convinced she had schemed intentionally, deliberately not taking the pill to get pregnant, all to secure her position as the heiress of a wealthy family.

She was too tired to explain anymore.

In the silence, Wen Zhan held her down. His eyes had adjusted to the dimness, allowing him to vaguely make out her features.

The woman trapped beneath him had eyes blazing with anger, her chest rising and falling noticeably.

They were so close that he could smell the rich, fragrant scent on her, and the image of her breastfeeding flashed through his mind again…

An ambiguous and awkward atmosphere quietly enveloped them.

If he remembered correctly, today was their second wedding anniversary. As her husband, it was time to exercise his legal rights and fulfill his obligations.

Mu Wanqing sensed something was off with the man. She turned her head to speak, but before she could, he suddenly pressed down, his intense masculine aura instantly enveloping her.

Her eyes widened in shock, unable to believe that the man who had been furious just moments ago was now suddenly demanding a kiss!

Wen Zhan had intended to kiss her, but she lay there like a log, completely unresponsive.

Her mouth, which had been so sharp-tongued just moments ago, now seemed frozen and unmoving.

The man grew impatient. After a few seconds of pressing and moving against her lips with no response, he shifted downward on his own, kissing her neck and collarbone.

The closer he got to her chest, the more intoxicating her refreshing fragrance became. The alcohol that had been washed away by the cold shower seemed to instantly numb his brain again—at this moment, Wen Zhan’s rationality receded, and he was only loyal to the cries and desires of his body.

Mu Wanqing snapped back to reality. The contact of her skin with the air made her entire heart tremble, and her words came out in broken fragments, “Wen… Wen Zhan, look clearly, I am Mu Wanqing… not… not Lu Kejun…”

Before she could finish speaking, a sharp pain surged through her.

She cried out in pain and instinctively resisted, but the man pinned her hands down forcefully and kissed her again. “It’s not the first time, why pretend?”

In the darkness, tears slid down the woman’s cheeks.

It wasn’t an act—it genuinely hurt.

This indeed wasn’t the first time, but it was the first since giving birth.

The legendary sensation of being split apart couldn’t be more intense than this.

After Wen Zhan’s sarcastic remark, his lips met her tears the next second, causing his brow to furrow instantly.

His Adam’s apple bobbed, his body tensed, and he quietly paused to wait.

A long moment later, when he moved again, his actions were noticeably gentler…

The next morning, Mu Wanqing was awakened by the oppressive pain in her chest.

Having been a new mother for over three months, she had grown accustomed to such sudden discomfort.

So, the first thing she did upon opening her eyes was to check on the baby.

All she needed was to hold the baby and nurse him.

But today, her gaze met empty space.

She froze for a second before a sudden realization struck her—oh no!

“Tumble at three months, sit at six months, crawl at nine months”—her son had just learned to roll over two days ago. Could he have fallen onto the floor?

She practically sprang up, leaning over the edge of the bed to look down. Thankfully… there was no baby on the floor!

The next moment, a distinct discomfort in her waist transformed the panic on her face into one of pain. She instinctively supported her lower back with one hand while bracing herself on the bed with the other, as memories of the previous night flooded back…

Last night, provoked by Lu Kejun, she had felt disheartened and taken the initiative to ask Wen Zhan for a divorce, which had infuriated him.

That bastard had gone mad, demanding everything from her and tormenting her until nearly dawn.

Under normal circumstances, she didn’t resist such intimacy.

After all, the man was handsome, with a sexy physique and astonishing stamina. Having a romantic fling with such a man certainly wasn’t a loss.

However, her lack of experience, combined with it being her first time postpartum and that bastard’s rough brutality, had completely distorted what should have been the most romantic act between a man and a woman.

The encounter left her utterly exhausted, and she had fallen into a deep, almost comatose sleep. She hadn’t even noticed when he got up and left in the morning or when the nanny came in to take the baby away.

Mu Wanqing sat in a daze, replaying the events of the previous night.

After the anger and frustration subsided, she couldn’t help but blush, her heart racing with embarrassment.

If she remembered correctly, after she cried out in pain and shed tears, Wen Zhan’s movements had noticeably slowed, as if deliberately giving her time to adjust.

But he was such a cold and indifferent person. Since their marriage, he had never spoken a kind word to her. Would he suddenly show her tenderness and affection?

No, he wouldn’t.

It must have been her imagination.

Yet, she had witnessed his gentle and affectionate side—not directed at her, his wife, but at his unattainable childhood sweetheart, Lu Kejun.

Even their first time had happened because Lu Kejun married someone else. He had gotten drunk out of heartbreak, mistaken her for his beloved, and it had all unfolded in a haze.

So last night, she had kindly reminded him, but instead of having any effect, it had only angered him further.

Perhaps… it was because she wasn’t qualified to mention his beloved.

Lost in her chaotic thoughts, Mu Wanqing was startled by a sound at the door.

Her instincts kicked in, and she flopped back onto the bed, pretending to be asleep, thinking it was Wen Zhan entering—after last night, she had no idea how to face him.

But then, Aunt Zhou’s voice reached her ears: “Madam, madam? Are you awake?”

Mu Wanqing immediately opened her eyes. “Aunt Zhou…”

Feeling somewhat awkward, she sat up and asked, “Are Xiao Ze and Xiao Ya awake?”

“Yes, I fed them around five in the morning, and now they’re hungry again,” Aunt Zhou replied softly.

The woman nodded. “Alright, I’ll go wash up now.”

As Aunt Zhou turned to pick up the children, Mu Wanqing quickly rose and headed to the bathroom.

But when her feet touched the floor and she began walking, the distinct soreness and discomfort made her frown again, her cheeks flushing crimson once more.

That Wen Zhan, who appeared quite aloof, was exceptionally passionate and intense when it came to matters between men and women.

Clutching her burning face, she slipped into the bathroom, feeling as if she had become “tainted” and needed a moment to calm herself.

By the time she finished feeding both babies, over half an hour had passed, and Mu Wanqing’s stomach was growling with hunger.

She went downstairs to find something to eat, but as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, her eyes immediately landed on the man seated in the dining room.

Her heart leaped, and her mind exploded with shock.

It was already nine o’clock—why hadn’t Wen Zhan left for work yet?
