“CEO Su, I heard from CEO Tang that this guy is a security guard. No one knows how he got in. Do you know him?” Jiang Chengye asked calmly.

Tang Shiyu felt a sting in her heart. Jiang Chengye had never called her “CEO Tang” before. He had always called her “Yu’er.”

Su Tiancheng began to sweat. Jiang Chengye was clearly expressing his displeasure.Full novel: After the Villain Finished His Role, the System Eloped with the Heavenly Dao — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“That’s right, I can confirm it,” Wang Xia added. “He’s just a security guard from our company, always shamelessly pestering Yu’er. I seriously suspect he sneaked in.”

Su Tiancheng’s expression darkened as he turned to look at Ye Chen. He was certain there was no Ye family in Jiangbei City, and no one with the surname Ye was known. And if this man really was just a security guard, then clearly, he had snuck in.

“My friend, I don’t believe we sent you an invitation, did we?” Su Tiancheng looked at Ye Chen and asked coldly, his tone faintly hostile.

Ye Chen’s face was already dark as water. In his past life, being a security guard had earned him a lot of attention and favor. But now, everyone looked down on him for it. And he couldn’t just reveal his true identity yet—Dragon King Hall hadn’t returned to the country. The timing wasn’t right.

Caught in an awkward situation, Ye Chen quickly reminded himself—he had brought an invitation, so why flinch?

“Of course I have an invitation. We’re all guests here, aren’t we? Or is CEO Su looking down on me, Ye Chen?” he said forcefully, letting out a faint aura.

The moment his aura surged, Su Tiancheng felt a heavy pressure and was inwardly startled. “This aura… he’s a martial artist?!”

Jiang Chengye also sensed Ye Chen’s aura, but to him, it felt like nothing more than a breeze brushing past his face.

“An invitation? You’re a security guard. You think you deserve one?” Jiang Chengye sneered as he looked at Ye Chen.

Ye Chen was secretly delighted. Yes, this was exactly the reaction he wanted—they were using his security guard status to stir trouble.

“Jiang Chengye, you’re just jealous. So what if I’m a security guard? I’m the one beside Yu’er now, not you,” Ye Chen said proudly, reciting his prepared line.

Unfortunately, his IQ seemed to have taken a serious nosedive. Even now, he was still dancing on the edge of death.

Without a protagonist filter, they all looked at him like he was insane. Since when was being a security guard something to flaunt?

Was he delusional?

It wasn’t that they looked down on security guards—just that flaunting such a status in this kind of elite gathering was absurd.

Everyone present moved in upper-class circles. Ye Chen looked presentable enough, but the moment he opened his mouth, it reeked of arrogance. Just because Tang Shiyu sat next to him, he dared to mock Jiang Chengye? What kind of twisted brain logic was this?

Jiang Chengye wasn’t angry. He even found it amusing. He turned to Su Tiancheng with a smile. “You heard him yourself, CEO Su. He admitted he’s a security guard. As for the invitation, I suggest you verify it—he might’ve forged it.”

Tang Shiyu and Wang Xia silently switched seats. Tang Shiyu now sat beside Jiang Chengye, while Wang Xia sat on Tang Shiyu’s other side, not daring to sit near Ye Chen at all.

“Go call the doorman over,” Su Tiancheng ordered a servant behind him.

At this point, even a clay figurine would be angry. A security guard pretending like this? If he’d just snuck in quietly for food and drinks, fine—but no, he had to show off.

Ye Chen’s heart skipped a beat. Something wasn’t right. Why did Jiang Chengye suddenly seem so rational? Shouldn’t he have lost his temper and cursed him out by now, giving Ye Chen a chance to slap him? That was how it had gone in his past life!

Soon, the doorman arrived—the same one who had checked Ye Chen’s invitation.

“CEO Su, you called for me?”

Su Tiancheng pointed at Ye Chen and asked, “Did this man present an invitation?”

The doorman looked at Ye Chen—he clearly remembered him getting out of a taxi. “Yes, CEO Su. This gentleman did show an invitation.”

Ye Chen relaxed a bit. Thankfully, the doorman had some tact and didn’t bring the actual invitation along. It was a high-quality replica, and unless someone looked very closely, they wouldn’t notice anything wrong. Like the missing gold foil seal from Old Madam Su’s personal crest.

But Su Tiancheng wasn’t about to give Ye Chen any breathing room. This involved the Su family’s reputation. Having a mad dog sneak into such a prestigious event—how would outsiders see their family?

“This man’s name is Ye Chen. Go retrieve his invitation so I can take a look,” he said to the doorman.

The doorman understood immediately. His earlier suspicion had been right—this guy was dirt poor! All the guests were now glancing toward their table. Clearly, something was about to blow up.

Ye Chen felt like his head was about to split.

Why was everyone suddenly acting so smart?

Wait! He suddenly realized something—back in his past life, he had dared to admit his security guard identity so confidently because Tang Shiyu had backed him up. But now she wasn’t on his side at all. Damn it! All that confidence had been wasted!

Su Tiancheng glanced at the invitation and immediately recognized it as a fake. “Ye Chen, was it? Will you leave on your own, or should I have someone throw you out?”

He tore the invitation to shreds, eyes blazing with anger. Clearly, he was furious.

Old Madam Su had made it clear—no outsiders should be allowed in. Everyone here had to have real standing. And to be honest, if Ye Chen had simply snuck in and behaved himself, the Su family might’ve let it slide. He looked decent enough, wore quality clothing—he didn’t seem out of place.

But this guy had no sense of shame. Not only did he sneak in, he offended Jiang Chengye and kept flaunting his status as a security guard. It was like he was using the Su family’s reputation to wipe the floor.

Unforgivable!

Ye Chen looked at Tang Shiyu, who had moved to sit beside Jiang Chengye, and silently crossed her off his harem list—straight to the cold palace.

Not a single word to defend him. Ye Chen was furious. She even switched seats in front of everyone. Now he sat alone, like a plague god.

He stood up, releasing his martial aura mixed with killing intent.

Su Tiancheng felt an overwhelming pressure and gasped, “A martial artist?!”

Ye Chen’s aura wasn’t just aimed at Su Tiancheng—it was also directed at Jiang Chengye. But to Jiang Chengye, it felt like a spring breeze. He didn’t even blink.

“Su, my attendance at your old lady’s birthday banquet is already a favor to you. Otherwise, even if you sent eight palanquins to beg me, I wouldn’t have come. You think you’re qualified to kick me out?” Ye Chen said coldly.

He, the Dragon King, had never suffered such humiliation. But now, he suddenly saw clearly—when one holds absolute power, there’s no need to bow to anyone.

This move could only be called: when the dog’s cornered, it jumps the wall.
