After getting off work that afternoon, Wen Fufu ran into the old lady who lived across from her at the stairway. She greeted her, but the old lady stopped her.

“Little Fu, several men came looking for you this morning. Do you know them?”

Wen Fufu was puzzled. She did not know any men.Full novel: After Transmigrating into a Book, I Took Away the President’s Baby — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She said to the old lady, “I don’t know them. Were they really looking for me?”

The old lady replied, “Yes, they were even standing right at your door.”

After thinking about it for a while, the old lady still reminded her carefully, “Little Fu, next time when you go out, make sure you lock your door properly. And come home earlier after work.”

The old lady had already completely assumed that the group who came that morning were bad people.

Wen Fufu nodded. Warmth filled her heart. Being cared about by someone felt really nice.

“I understand. Thank you, Grandma.”

Wen Fufu pushed the door open, went inside, and closed it behind her. She leaned against the door, wondering who had come looking for her.

A flash of inspiration came to her mind. She felt as if she was close to the answer, yet she could not remember anything.

Wen Fufu shook her head. She decided not to think about it anymore and ordered takeout first.

Two months later.

Wen Fufu had spent two peaceful months in B City. The first set of jewelry she had been responsible for designing had finally produced results.

At that moment, Li Tiantian walked out of Tian Siqing’s office with a smile on her face. She shouted to the two people outside who were busy working.

“Comrades! What do you want for afternoon tea? The boss is treating!”

Zhou Lei was the first to look up. “Li Tiantian, look at that smile on your face. What exactly did Sister Tian tell you? Why is she suddenly treating us to afternoon tea?”

“Three Stones, what do you mean suddenly? Sister Tian often treats us to meals, okay? But this time there’s good news to tell you.” Li Tiantian smiled mysteriously.

Their studio had finally gotten on track after operating for so long.

“What good news? Li Tiantian, stop keeping us in suspense,” Zhou Lei urged her.

“This good news is related to our Fufu.” Li Tiantian looked toward Wen Fufu.

Wen Fufu was drawing a draft. When she heard someone call her name, she lifted her head in confusion.

“What’s wrong?”

“Fufu, you weren’t even listening to what I was saying!” Li Tiantian placed her hands on her hips.

Zhou Lei saw the blank expression on Wen Fufu’s face and knew she had not heard the conversation between him and Li Tiantian.

“Little Sister Fu—cough—I’m talking about you. When you work, you should relax sometimes. If you don’t join our conversations, we’ll feel very sad.”

Zhou Lei was two years older than Wen Fufu. After two months of getting along, their relationship had grown closer, and they had become more relaxed with each other. He had started calling her Little Sister Fu.

Wen Fufu put down the pencil in her hand, folded both hands on the table, and sat like a well-behaved student. With wide eyes she asked, “Tiantian, Brother Zhou, what are you talking about?”

“Tsk tsk tsk, Wen Fufu, you finally remembered us.” Li Tiantian reached out and pinched her cheek. After two months together, they had gone from strangers to becoming quite familiar. Li Tiantian had already figured out Wen Fufu’s personality—serious about work and friendly to others, but sometimes she became so absorbed in work that she automatically blocked everyone else out. Li Tiantian did not know whether that habit was good or bad.

She continued the earlier topic. “Sister Tian said that the earrings you designed this quarter are selling extremely well. They’re already in short supply. Today you’re our big hero. Sister Tian wants to treat us to afternoon tea and a big dinner tonight. Since you’re the hero, you decide. Tell us what you want to eat.”

“You’re big heroes too,” Wen Fufu said seriously. “If it weren’t for Tiantian’s excellent promotional skills and Brother Zhou’s sales ability, there’s no guarantee my products would even sell.”

“If we’re taking credit, we should take it together.”

“Fufu, your mouth is really sweet. I like girls like you.” Li Tiantian pinched her cheek again. Young people’s skin really was so soft.

Wen Fufu looked helplessly at Li Tiantian’s actions. She had just gotten rid of Li Fei, and now another person who liked pinching her cheeks had appeared.

“Little Sister Fu, what you said almost moved me to tears,” Zhou Lei said, pretending to wipe away tears.

“Alright, stop pretending to be touched. You’re a grown man.” Li Tiantian took out her phone and opened a food delivery app. “Come take a look. After choosing, tell me and I’ll place the order.”

She handed the phone to Wen Fufu first.

Wen Fufu did not have much concept about food. She passed the task to Zhou Lei. He was a local of B City and also a foodie who knew quite a lot about food. Otherwise, he would not have eaten himself into such a round figure.

When it came to food, Zhou Lei had plenty of choices. He took Li Tiantian’s phone, found a restaurant he considered a hidden gem, asked them what they wanted to eat, and then happily placed the order.

“I guarantee the place I recommended will satisfy you,” Zhou Lei said confidently, patting his chest.

Wen Fufu nodded in agreement. As long as there was food, she would be satisfied with anything.

Recently, she did not know why, but she felt hungry very easily. It was not even two in the afternoon yet, but it already felt like the lunch she ate had been completely digested.

She touched her stomach and then pinched the flesh on her face. She had not gained weight.

Could it be that she had eaten too much recently and expanded her appetite?

Impossible, impossible. It was probably this body absorbing nutrients and replenishing the nutrients it had lost before.

Wen Fufu cheered herself up, picked up her pencil again, and continued drawing the unfinished draft while waiting for the takeout. She really hoped the food would arrive soon because she was truly hungry.

She waited and waited. After she finished drawing the jewelry designs for the next season, the food they ordered finally arrived.

Li Tiantian took the food out of the packaging and arranged it while saying to Zhou Lei, “Three Stones, please call the boss to come out and eat.”

“I’ll go call her,” Wen Fufu said. Tian Siqing’s office was closest to her seat, so she only needed to walk a few steps.

Soon, Tian Siqing came out together with Wen Fufu. After everyone gathered, they picked up the food they liked and began eating while chatting and laughing.

Wen Fufu took a sip of lemon water. By accident, she glanced over and saw Zhou Lei lifting a chicken leg to his mouth. The smell of various foods mixed together in the air. Suddenly, sour liquid surged up from her stomach.

She quickly covered her mouth and put down the lemon water.

“Sorry, I need to go to the restroom.”

Covering her mouth with both hands, Wen Fufu turned and ran to the restroom near the stairwell. She rushed into the first stall as quickly as possible and bent over the toilet, vomiting.

“Bleurgh… bleurgh…”

A few minutes later, the sound of vomiting stopped.

Wen Fufu opened the stall door, holding her stomach as she walked to the sink. She turned on the faucet and washed her hands while still feeling uncomfortable.

What was happening to her? Why did she suddenly feel like vomiting whenever she saw food?

Unable to figure it out, Wen Fufu rubbed her stomach and returned to the studio.

Li Tiantian was gnawing on a chicken leg when she walked over and asked, “Fufu, are you okay? Why were you in the restroom for so long?”

“It’s nothing. My stomach just feels a little uncomfortable.”

Li Tiantian suddenly showed an expression of understanding. She leaned close to Wen Fufu’s ear and whispered, “Fufu, are you on your period?”

Wen Fufu shook her head. “No.” Her period usually came at the end of the month.

Wait!

Speaking of her period… it seemed like it had not come in the past two months!

At the time, she had thought it was because she had transmigrated into the book and her body had not adjusted yet. She had even joked that transmigration also had jet lag.

But judging from the symptoms she had just shown—feeling hungry easily, wanting to vomit when seeing food, liking sour lemon water—and considering how many melodramatic TV dramas she had watched…

Could it be what she was thinking?!

Wen Fufu’s breathing quickened, and panic filled her entire body.

She must be mistaken, right? Haha… how could that be possible? How could she be pregnant? Impossible. Impossible. It definitely couldn’t be.

“Fufu, why has your face suddenly turned so pale?!” Li Tiantian shouted.

Wen Fufu covered her face and ran to Tian Siqing.

“Sister Tian, may I take leave now? Something urgent happened at home. It’s extremely urgent.”

Tian Siqing was stunned by her sudden request. “Ah? So sudden… Alright… okay.”

After receiving approval, Wen Fufu turned around, grabbed her bag, and ran out of the studio.

Li Tiantian followed her to the door, holding a chicken leg in her hand. Looking at her disappearing figure, she said, “Wait—Fufu, what happened? You haven’t eaten yet!”

Wen Fufu could no longer hear Li Tiantian shouting behind her. Right now, the only thing in her mind was reaching the hospital as quickly as possible.

She got out of the car, rushed into the hospital lobby, and ran to the registration desk. Anxiously, she asked the nurse, “Excuse me, if I want to know whether someone is pregnant, which department should I register for?”

The nurse thought she was a newly married woman eager to confirm whether she was pregnant. Smiling gently, she replied softly, “You should register for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. First register and pay here, then take the registration slip to the third floor and wait for the doctor to call your name.”

“Oh, okay. Please help me register for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.” Wen Fufu took out her wallet, paid the fee, and received the registration slip. She then went up to the third floor and sat on a chair in the corridor outside, praying with all her heart.

Please, please don’t let me be pregnant. I’m still so young—how could I be pregnant?

Stomach, oh stomach, you’re already a mature stomach now. You must not get pregnant!

Why had she not thought about taking emergency contraception afterward?

Although she thought that now, at that time the shock of transmigrating into a book had completely occupied her mind. It had also been her first time sleeping with a man.

Under those circumstances, could she really have thought about taking medicine afterward?
