Because the eldest aunt had health issues, she only gave birth to one son, Lu Zheng.

So among the four younger children three girls and one boy they were all born to Lu Xiao’s mother.Full novel: After Traveling Back to the 1970s I Got Married in a Flash Right at the Start — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In order of age: Lu Zheng is the eldest. The second is Lu Xiao’s eldest sister, Lu Zhao. The third is his second sister, Lu Xi. The fourth is Lu Xiao himself, also one of the only two boys in the Lu family, and much doted on. The youngest, the fifth child, is Lu Xiao’s younger sister, Lu Ran.

Since the eldest aunt only had one son, she treated her nieces and nephews like her own children and loved them dearly.

“Big sister-in-law, just look at what he’s done! He went and got married behind our backs, without putting any of us elders in his eyes at all.”

“We told him to come back and discuss it first. But instead, he pulled the rug out from under us and registered the marriage directly!”

“Lu Xiao, do you think that just because you’ve registered the marriage, I can’t do anything to you?”

The more Lu Xiao’s mother thought about it, the angrier she became.

Originally, she had her own plans for her future daughter-in-law.

She had only this one son, so naturally she wanted to find him a daughter-in-law who was perfect in every way someone worthy of him.

Choosing a daughter-in-law had to be done carefully. “If the father is bad, one person suffers; if the mother is bad, the whole family suffers.” At the very least, she wanted someone from a good family background, with a good temperament, good looks, and intelligence.

Who would have thought that he would simply escort a comrade home once and come back married? What mother could accept that?

“Mom, please keep your voice down. Wanwan is sleeping upstairs. Don’t wake her!” Lu Xiao glanced upstairs and rubbed his forehead in frustration.

If the young girl heard all this, who knew how heartbroken she would be.

This situation was partly his fault too.

If he hadn’t failed to control himself, things wouldn’t have come to this.

“You”

“And you’re still protecting her!” Lu Xiao’s mother was so furious that this usually dignified lady actually raised her hand and struck her son several times.

“Go ahead, hit me. As long as it helps you calm down, however you hit me is fine.”

“But please don’t give Wanwan a hard time. This isn’t her fault. It’s mine.”

Lu Xiao stood there and let his mother hit him.

“Oh dear, at least listen to what the child has to say first. What’s the point of blaming him endlessly now that things have already come to this?”

Grandmother Lu felt sorry for her grandson and pulled her daughter-in-law aside.

Since her mother-in-law had spoken, Lu Xiao’s mother had no choice but to stop.

Seeing that his wife had vented her anger, Father Lu patted her shoulder. “Let’s hear what our son has to say first.”

“Yes, Hanyan. Since the fourth child chose to marry, he must have thought it through carefully. Let’s hear what really happened.”

The eldest aunt had noticed the look her son gave her when he first entered the house. That look showed he was quite satisfied with Lu Xiao’s wife otherwise he wouldn’t have looked that way.

Although she hadn’t gotten a clear look at the girl earlier, she did see the old lady’s satisfied expression. Presumably, the girl’s appearance wasn’t bad.

Just from seeing her nephew carry the girl into the house, it was obvious he had feelings for her.

It didn’t look like he had been forced into marrying her.

“Lu Xiao, tell Grandpa the truth. What exactly happened?”

Grandpa Lu spoke, and everyone fell silent.

Lu Xiao knew he had to give the family an explanation today but he certainly couldn’t tell the whole truth.

“Grandpa, it’s like this. Su Wanwan’s third brother was injured, so I escorted him home to recover. That evening, I had dinner with the Su family and drank too much. In the middle of the night, when I got up to use the bathroom, I was groggy… and went into the wrong room… and ruined her… innocence.”

Smack!

A bright red handprint instantly appeared on Lu Xiao’s face.

The blow had clearly not been light.

“Have you forgotten all the discipline of a soldier?!” Father Lu was furious and slapped him hard.

You disgraceful thing!

“Oh my, what are you doing?!”

“Son, let Mom take a look.”

“It’s already swollen! How could you hit him so hard?” Lu Xiao’s mother immediately felt heartbroken.

Lu Xiao lowered his head. “I’m sorry, Dad.”

Grandpa Lu’s sharp eyes fixed on his grandson. The boy hadn’t told the whole truth.

“What’s the situation with the Su family?”

Forget it. Since he was willing to marry her, protect her, and bear the consequences, let him.

Right now, Grandpa Lu wanted to understand the background of his future granddaughter-in-law.

“My father-in-law is the team leader, and my mother-in-law takes care of the household. They’re both decent people. There are four children in the family. Su Wanwan has three older brothers. The eldest, Su Huaijin, and the second, Su Huaizhou, farm and are already married the eldest has two sons, the second has one daughter. The third brother, Su Huai’an, is a soldier and still unmarried.”

Grandpa Lu nodded. The family background was clean. “In the countryside, that’s considered a pretty good family.”

“But still”

Grandpa Lu waved his hand, and Lu Xiao’s mother didn’t dare continue.

She felt that such a family was simply not a good match for theirs. If people found out, wouldn’t they laugh at her?

“How old is your wife?”

“Just now I thought she looked…”

“Ahem… um… nineteen.”

After Lu Xiao said that, everyone looked at him differently.

She was even a year younger than the youngest in their family, Lu Ran.

The muscles beside Father Lu’s nose twitched, and his hand started itching again.

Seeing this, Lu Xiao’s mother quickly grabbed his hand. He couldn’t hit him again.

“Well… I’ll go check the kitchen and make something to eat. If the young girl wakes up, she’ll probably be hungry,” the eldest aunt said as she stood up and went to the kitchen.

This really wasn’t the girl’s fault.

Her nephew had been too much of a beast.

Although girls in the countryside married early, the two of them were seven years apart. She truly hadn’t expected that.

Such a young blossom, and he had picked her.

The girl’s family not beating him up was already showing mercy.

“I’m back!”

“Why does everyone look like that? Did something happen?”

“Second Brother, you’re back too? That’s great!”

“Look who came back with me!”

The youngest daughter of the Lu family, Lu Ran, had returned.
