“What’s the big deal? Your younger brother got married can’t his two older sisters come back to see their sister-in-law? Isn’t that perfectly normal?”

“Besides, my son got himself a wife does that mean my daughters can’t come home anymore?” Mother Lu had a bellyful of things she wanted to say to her daughters.

Daughters are more considerate after all. Some things can’t really be understood by men, but her daughters would definitely stand on her side.Full novel: After Traveling Back to the 1970s I Got Married in a Flash Right at the Start — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The couple went downstairs.

“Oh my! My grandson and granddaughter are here too!” Mother Lu was overjoyed when she saw the children.

“Grandma!”

“Grandma, we missed you so much!”

The two children threw themselves into Mother Lu’s arms.

“So you two only missed Grandma and not Grandpa, huh?” Father Lu pretended to be upset.

Jiang Xingye quickly hugged Grandpa’s leg. “That’s not true! My sister and I missed Grandpa too.”

Father Lu scooped his grandson up into his arms.

“Mom, Dad, honestly something this big, and you didn’t tell us at all?”

When Lu Zhao received the call, her second and youngest sisters told her that Lu Xiao had gotten married and even brought his wife home. It had shocked her.

It was so sudden.

Hadn’t her brother always said he didn’t have a girlfriend?

He wouldn’t even agree to meet anyone for matchmaking.

So where did this wife suddenly come from?

The youngest sister only had a vague idea. She said she came home and suddenly there was a sister-in-law in the house, and that her brother had even scolded her for his wife’s sake.

So they hurried back to their parents’ home to see for themselves.

“Hmph! We wanted to tell you but your brother didn’t give us the chance!”

“That rascal was afraid we’d oppose it, so he registered the marriage behind our backs and brought her home. What could we do?”

Just mentioning it made Mother Lu angry.

She had been holding in her frustration with nowhere to vent, and it made her miserable.

Now that Grandpa and Grandma liked Su Wanwan so much, she had even less room to say anything.

“Grandpa, Grandma, and Auntie aren’t home?”

“Where are Lu Xiao and his wife? Let us meet them!”

Lu Xi looked around; no one else was home.

“Your brother took his wife shopping. Grandma told them to go and even gave them money and ration coupons.”

“Your aunt went out for a walk with Grandpa and Grandma. They should be back soon.”

Seeing that no one else was around, Lu Zhao pulled Mother Lu aside. “Mom, what exactly happened with Little Brother?”

“Oh, what a mess… I’m almost too embarrassed to say.”

“You mustn’t tell anyone after hearing this, or your brother’s reputation will be ruined.”

Mother Lu then told them how Lu Xiao had escorted Su Wanwan’s third brother home, drank too much that night, walked into the wrong room, and ruined the girl’s innocence.

The sisters were shocked.

No wonder!

“…Could this have been a trap set by the Su family?” Lu Xi felt something wasn’t right the more she listened.

Their brother wasn’t someone who lacked self-control. How could something so unbelievable happen?

“Don’t make wild guesses!”

“Old Four already admitted he got drunk and made a mistake. What nonsense are you talking about?”

Father Lu quickly cut them off, afraid they would stir up more trouble.

He knew his own son. If he had really been schemed against, things wouldn’t have ended like this.

“Dad’s right. Old Four isn’t someone who can be easily set up. Otherwise he wouldn’t have brought her back to meet you.”

Eldest sister Lu Zhao understood her brother well. If he had truly been framed, he wouldn’t have brought the girl to the capital to meet the family.

“Hmph, I think Second Brother was just bewitched by a vixen.”

“Xiao Ran, don’t talk nonsense. She’s your sister-in-law now.”

“Things have already reached this point. Whether you accept it or not, it’s done. Let’s try to get along, or your second brother will be stuck in the middle.”

Lu Zhao knew her youngest sister was headstrong and feared she might cause trouble.

“But we can’t let her throw her weight around in our house!” Lu Xi had a fiery temperament and didn’t tolerate what she disliked.

“You sisters, stop adding fuel to the fire. Old Four likes her, and so do Grandpa and Grandma. Why stir things up?”

“She’s even younger than Xiao Ran only nineteen. And Old Four…”

“You sisters should be more accommodating!”

“Besides, she’s not an unreasonable child.”

When there are many women in a household, there are bound to be many disputes.

He had daughters too weren’t they all in their twenties when they got married? That girl was only nineteen and already…

His son was so much older than her. Their family should treat her better.

“Oh my, she’s even a year younger than Xiao Ran? That really makes her a little sister-in-law!” Lu Zhao hadn’t expected her sister-in-law to be so young.

“Mom, don’t stay angry with Little Brother. Don’t let it hurt your health.”

Lu Zhao comforted her.

“Zhaozhao… you know what’s in my heart.”

“I wanted to find your brother a wife who could support his future at the very least not hold him back. But this… the gap between the two families is just too big!”

What mother doesn’t think about her son’s future?

“Mom, you’re the mother-in-law. What are you afraid of? As a daughter-in-law, she has to listen to you.”

“Just teach her properly.”

What else could they do? The marriage was already registered. Nothing could change that now.

“Yes, Mom. She’s still young. If she doesn’t understand something, just guide her.”

“Eldest Sister, Second Sister, you didn’t see it. Second Brother acts like he’s been poisoned by her he protects her in everything.”

“Enough. What happened yesterday wasn’t your brother and sister-in-law’s fault. It was your mistake. Why blame it on them?”

“And I’m reminding you your second brother is married now. You can’t casually enter his room like before.”

Lu Ran pouted, unhappy. In just one night, Grandpa, Grandma, and Dad were all speaking up for her. She really must have some kind of spell.

“What happened?” Eldest sister Lu Zhao looked at their parents.

Meanwhile, Lu Xiao and Su Wanwan had no idea about the commotion at home.

After leaving the residential compound, they headed straight to the largest shopping center the Capital Department Store.

It was Su Wanwan’s first time seeing something so bustling and prosperous. The supply and marketing cooperative back in her county town didn’t carry nearly as many goods.

At that moment, a woman’s hidden DNA trait awakened.

Shop!

Buy!

The first floor sold household appliances and daily necessities.

Su Wanwan glanced around and realized most big items were already in the Lu household television, radio, thermos, clock…

“We won’t buy these big items for now. But we can look. Once you move to the military base with me, if you want anything, tell me and I’ll have it sent from home.”

Su Wanwan nodded.

Then she headed straight toward the food section.

Lu Xiao grabbed her hand and led her to the watch counter instead.

“Pick one you like.”

He hadn’t bought her a watch yet. Today was the perfect time.

“Lu Xiao?”

“It really is you!”

“Sister-in-law Gu, you’re shopping too?” Lu Xiao hadn’t expected to run into Gu Ruolan and her sister-in-law.
