A few days passed since me and my party went shopping together.
I’ve thought about what Drole said to me that day in the clothing store.
Well what he told me about Speed enhancement magic, it gave me a better understanding.
One that I haven’t thought of.
It wasn’t as simple as I thought, it’s much more intricate, of course the concept is hard to understand but at night I’ve been activating the spell to feel the motion of it burning through gravity and time.
However I only felt the former as my legs feel lighter than usual when I activate the enhancement.
I also feel the sensation of my mana being constantly burned through unlike with my other spells which are only costly at the moment of activation.
I haven’t exactly experimented with my understanding but slowly and surely I’m getting familiarized with using spells.
I now know exactly what I got to understand.
It isn’t only the concept but the sensation as well.
More importantly It’s been a full week since me and Kayden’s recent quest and our rise to rank D1.
With this everyone in the party will rank up simultaneously so now this will be our first quest together after a while.
Hopefully nothing unexpected occurs but that’s like asking for pigs to fly.
“Okay, everyone is here so let’s go.” Pultra said as we all gathered at the front of the Inn.
“What are you so excited for?” Kayden asked as he followed behind her.
“Why wouldn’t I be? I’ve been on my ass for weeks. I’d like to get out of these borders again.” Pultra said bluntly as she walked faster than all of us.
“I feel the same. Sitting for so long and doing nothing, did not sit right with me.” Drole brought up as he walked with a slower pace behind us.
Once we made it to the guild, the quest on the walls didn’t seem to decrease at all.
Instead, there seem to be more quests filling even the outside of the board.
It didn’t take long for us to choose a quest, however unlike the other quests this one was indicated in bold words to be directly under the Holy City military’s request.
To subjugate the Orcs in the southern plains.
According to the receptionist, it’s a C3+ rank quests a horde of Orcs, the fact that the guild even allowed them to participate is odd.
Well it’s to be expected as it’s an open quest, in other words.
“Everyone in the guild can accept this quest, there are no reservations.” Drole said as we all walked towards the South Gate.
“Apparently they’ve deployed a unit to hold off the orcs but they don’t want to waste anymore manpower so they gave the guild this quest and allowed them to determine the level. Anyone D1 and up can accept it because they/we will be backed by other adventurers and knights.” Pultra said as she walked along ahead of us.
“No carriage this time?” Kayden said as he walked beside me.
“We don’t need it. Says the receptionist.” I answered while keeping my eyes on the South Gate which slowly appeared in our view as we reached the gate.
Of course that in itself seemed odd until we finally left through the southern gate.
There wasn’t a single soul in this side of the city, it was quiet besides the loud noise of explosions from what could only be the battlefield on the other side of the Southern Gate.
Although the gates were large enough to fit a carriage, it wasn’t enough to completely see the large-scale battle taking place, however just from the sound, they could tell how intense it was just from the amount of sounds and wind pressure flying erratically.
We approached the battle with our grimoires ready to cast any spells, Drole and I had our weapons ready and were prepared to battle as soon as needed.
So as we exited through the gate, the horrifying scene that met us was truly disastrous.
Well over a dozen orcs stood towering over any adventure, hunter, or soldier- their bodies completely different from the first Orc my party faced.
There were those carrying wooden or iron clubs and those who had four arms, carrying no weapons.
Well over a dozen parties are dead, or heavily injured on the ground sprawled out with some of them being completely flattened, however there were just as many, maybe even more orc laying dead on the ground.
Amongst the dead bodies it was quite hard to spot any soldier from the Holy Army.
Amongst them all, those soldiers seem to be standing even with severe injuries.
*GRAAAAHH* The Orc’s all suddenly let out a war cry strong enough to make the earth tremble.
“HEY! What are you just standing there for?! Mages get to the top of the border. Warriors are to fight on the front!” A soldier said as he quickly glanced at us and the Orcs.
“Hmmm, What are you doing Kayden? Fighting or are you a mage today?” Pultra asked as kept a calm tone.
“Mmm.” He looked from the Orcs and the people on the front to the mages at the top and quickly chose.
“I choose to be a mage today.” Kayden said before a bubble swallowed the both of them.
“Let us go then.” Pultra said before she looked at Drole and I, “Take care down there. I’ll enhance both of you soon.” Pultra said but both of them waved their hands as they floated away.
Suddenly a large gust of wind hit the both of us, sending large rocks flying everywhere even some heading quickly towards us.
However, Drole quickly enchanted his warhammer and smashed the rock into pieces.
It seemed those pieces were going to hit the soldiers but bubbles wrapped around the broken pieces of rocks and then flew straight towards orcs.
Although it didn’t seem to do much damage, it distracted them a bit.
Causing a bit of confusion as they couldn’t seem to understand why the rocks suddenly flew at them.
“Even though these are bigger and tougher opponents than usual, We also have more opponents than usual. We’ll target one together, Pultra and Kayden should be able to follow our lead.” Drole said as he looked at the Orc who stood in front of us a few dozen feet away.
“We’ll target that one, aim for its ankles and don’t get crushed.” Drole said as he looked up to Kayden and Pultra before pointing at the targeted Orc.
“You make it sound too easy.” I said as my enhancement magic activated.
I was able to speed up the enchantment, now similar to my other spells, I need only think of it.
Nevertheless, I quickly rushed towards our targeted Orc, it had a deep red skin and four arms.
Its arms and legs were as thick as a tree trunk. This chapter was copied from novelping.com without permission.
This sword is another one of the weapons I bought since my last one broke during the Lizard-man quest.
I spread my mana through it generously while speeding up to the Orc’s leg, it doesn’t notice me as its attention is sparingly drawn away by Pultra’s spells.
Once I reached a few feet from the Orc, I circled around it and pushed my blade right into its achilles tendon.
its thick skin stopped my blade if it hadn’t ignited on time.
Burning through its leg as I slashed it.
It roared in pain but before it could do anything else, I already reached its right leg and repeated the process bringing it down to its knees as it cried in pain.
Simultaneously as it fell, its lower pair of arms stopped it from crashing its face into the ground.
Drole didn’t waste a single moment as he leapt the moment he saw its knees buckle.
Slamming his warhammer right into the Orc face- ultimately pushing it backwards onto its ass, such a force was incredibly inhumane.
Its head slammed into the ground causing a massive gust of wind to be pushed in all directions strong enough to stagger all of humans on the field except the other Orcs.
The only one who didn’t seem to stagger was Drole as he leapt in the air with his warhammer over his head.
I quickly acted as well, although it took some time to resist the wind pressure, I immediately climbed the Orc’s body, it tried to raise its hands but branches flew from the ground and tied its limbs to the floor.
I ran across its body, and as I did, Drole’s hammer slammed into the Orc’s stomach.
Seconds after, a shadow blanketed the area as blood spurted from its mouth.
I didn’t let that distract me as I finally reached its neck, and plunged my sword down while releasing a strong flurry of flames.
If Drole’s attack didn’t kill it, then this should’ve as my flames melted its throat.
The surrounding Orcs closest to us saw this and immediately started charging.
Completely forgetting about the Soldiers and Adventurers they were just fighting.
“They see us as a threat, a big one. How high can you jump?” Drole said calmly as he walked up to me.
“Not too high, like 5-6 feet.” I said before a sudden glow wrapped around my body with the glow came a sudden rush of energy and surge of strength.
“This strength enhancement should stack on top of your speed enhancement. Come now, we’ll take them one by one. I’ll follow your lead.” Drole said as he referred to the strength enhancement.
“Hmm.” This thrill I couldn’t waste by speaking so I nodded in agreement.
Suddenly another shadow began to loom over us, as we looked up there was a large iron club descending on our heads.
Drole quickly swung his warhammer to counter it.
Drole stopped the Orc’s attack and was surprisingly strong enough to be able to match the Orc’s strength.
I quickly charged the Orc, easily climbing over the Red Orc’s head and started charging towards the Orc, my speed was slightly increased because of the stack enhancement spell that strengthened my entire body.
Just as I reached the end of the Orc’s, I dropped to the ground, bracing myself for the impact but it didn’t seem to as I landed.
Although I was surprised, I continued to charge towards the Orc’s left leg and instead of attacking it from behind I attacked head on cutting straight through its ankle, cleanly taking its foot off.
