The door opened.
It created a gateway connecting the Celestial Domain, a name Lazarus had given his specialized space within the Celestial Library.
In that instant, like a flash of lightning, something descended upon the world.
Almost at the same time, Lazarus created an attraction force between himself and his body, which retained its blank expression amidst the whispers. He was sucked from where he stood, swiftly entering the door of light in what resembled a whirlpool of information.
Everything happened so quickly.
Each action overlapped perfectly, creating a flawless synergy that stacked atop each other when they manifested in reality.
First, the doorway appeared, stirring the attention of the corrupted Historian.
His body had been further infected, so he looked up and used his gaze to follow this invisible connection that had been made. However, before any action could be made, something descended into the world.
It sent chills down the spine of the Nameless Sin that had taken root inside the old man.
Fogs of history parted to reveal the existence that had mysteriously appeared from thin air. It had bright and untainted armor, with blazing hair that seemed like unquenchable torches.
This entity was radiant, filled with all kinds of resplendence.
It created an unshadowed layer around itself, causing everything within its territory to be affected by a purifying light. This wasn’t caused by any action of his, but simply the nature of its existence.
The sudden appearance of this existence was already enough to illuminate the entire building and create an insurmountable pressure of the Nameless Sin.
"Y-you...!" Gritting his teeth, the old man’s eyes turned pitch-black, and dark cracks appeared all over his face. Darkness surged from within his depths, creating what resembled a tar-like substance that seemed to surge from an invisible distributary.
Before the terrified Nameless could respond to the motionless existence...
WHOOSH!
... Another entity descended.
It was Lazarus!
He entered his body, causing the dazed expression on his face to quickly change.
In that instant, he also formed a direct bond with the Historical Projection that had taken form about a hundred meters from where he stood.
The moment their connection was established, the dull luster in the golden armored man regained its luster. It shone with bright golden light, causing his blazing hair to rise even further.
"Hahaha!" A confident laugh surged through the hall at this moment.
It came from none other than this golden figure.
"After over a thousand years since I last saw this world, it appears I have descended yet again. It remains a pleasant sight, witnessing the beauty and allure of New Earth." As the blazing armored man muttered this, he cast his gaze on the growling demonic presence that had distanced itself a hundred feet from him.
"Oh? But what is this I see? An ugly presence dares to taint this glorious arrival of mine? How impudent... how utterly disrespectful." His golden eyes shone brighter as several brilliant projections manifested in the air at that moment.
They were also Historical Projections!
Indeed!
The man in golden armor could also conjure Historical Projections!
These gold-coated weapons appeared out of thin air, creating an unmistakable pressure in the room. Heat began to rise at an unprecedented rate, almost as if the sun was starting to descend upon the entire world.
"Keuk! You... You’re an Emperor!" The stunned and frightened Nameless echoed through the mouth of the old man.
"Hehe! So you do have eyes!" The man laughed without a hint of fear in his voice. "Bow before the greatest Emperor to have ever live! I am the Supreme Arbitar of Life, Judge of all Evils, Monarch of Civilization, and the Savior of Humanity who lit through the world and banished all darkness in the Forgotten Ages..."
He paused for a moment before folding his arms and grinning with immense pride.
"... The Ancient Sun Emperor, Altreius!"
WHOOSH!!!
In that moment, the golden projections it made traversed space and charged at the slimy darkness that emerged from thin air.
These tar-like liquids quickly made walls to protect the corrupted man.
But... it was of no use!
"Keuk!" The Nameless Sin shrieked in pain as its dark curtains were instantly torn to shreds by the bombardments of a few weapons.
The darkness was simply no match for the constructs of brilliant light.
Parts of the blades even charged at the man behind his layer of protection, easily shattering the black armor he had covered his body with. Before they could deal substantial damage to the main body, these weapons dissolved.
However, the man with blazing hair did not look dejected.
He did not feel any pressure.
Instead, his smile broadened, "So you’re only at that level. I see... Then, how about this?"
In an instant, several dozens of golden light emerged all around him. Each light created a weapon, each one different from the other.
His golden eyes narrowed as he stared at the dark entity in mild amusement.
"Y-You...!" At this point, the Nameless Entity stared at the only other human who stood amidst this chaos and watched the fight take place.
"It’s you! You’re the one responsible for this!" Amidst the despair he faced, the old man’s dark face lit up as he made a warped smile. "If I kill you... Then I’ll be able to get rid of this problem and survive somehow!"
At that point, several more tar-like liquids emerged.
Most of them converged to create more sturdy barriers. Naturally, with how many more weapons of light that were made, it was impossible to deliver absolute protect. If he tried to blanket his entire body, the dark curtain would be spread too thin, thus rendering it ineffective.
’I’ll protect my vitals! Once I do that, I’ll divert the rest of the Tainted Sorrow and burrow towards the defenseless human!’ The Nameless Entity within Sir Winston quickly developed a plan and implemented it in the next moment.
The viscous darkness that didn’t make up his defenses quickly became several massive tentacles.
Their fat, abhorrent bodies squirmed like worms.
The moment the blades charged towards Sir Winston, the black tentacles wriggled and avoided their attacks, using the small window to attack Lazarus.
They were fast—moving with incredible speed.
Of course, due to the brilliance that surrounded the man in golden armor, the one who called himself the Ancient Sun Emperor Altreius, the tentacles suffered severe burns and quickly began to evaporate the further they advanced.
Still, they persevered through their suffering and charged past the Emperor.
Their target was only 100 meters behind him!
They were almost there—
"Your insolence truly knows no bounds..." As the Ancient Sun Emperor spoke, a rain of golden light descended, easily flooding the darkness with unimaginable brilliance.
The heat rose to unprecedented levels at once.
Unable to withstand such a level of power, the scorched tentacle’s easily turned to dust and evaporated.
At the same moment, the Ancient Sun Emperor’s weapons had broken through many barriers and caused serious injuries to the Nameless Entity—as well as the man who served as his host.
"Arghhhh!!!" He screamed in pain, but was also relieved.
He didn’t die, after all.
By protecting the vitals of this host, this Nameless could rapidly regenerate and further deepen its control over him. As such, the more injuries Sir Winston sustained, the less resistance the old man would give.
It would eventually lead to Complete Control.
’It appears that Historical projection don’t care about that at all. It must also be the will of the Historian who summoned him. They only want to exterminate me... Damnit!’
If it was facing normal opponents, this Nameless Sin would have used the old man’s life as a bargaining chip, dangling his body in front of his adversaries as a way to protect itself. But these people were completely different from average.
It was too unexpected!
No... This wasn’t the only aspect that deeply troubled the Nameless Sin.
In the first place, why was a Sub-Integrated Historian capable of summoning an Emperor Grade Historical Projection?
A Historical Projection of this level was Rank 7!
In essence, it far outclassed most Historical Projections and even stood higher than the Rank 5 Nameless Entity in front of it.
Summoning such an existence while being Sub-Integrated was impossible.
One needed corresponding knowledge to summon an appropriate Historical Projection. But having that kind of knowledge as a Sub-Intgrated would immediately cause the person to be assimilated into the Celestial Library, effectively killing them.
Thus, this created a contradiction.
It was logically impossible.
Completely unheard of!
But something so miraculous was happening right before this Nameless Entity’s eyes.
