The doctor neatly closed Nyxia’s medical chart before turning to Wilder.

“Your wife’s condition is stable now.

Let her memories return naturally.

Forcing her could only make her condition worse.”

Wilder gave a small nod.

A faint, unreadable smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

“Of course, Doctor.

I’ll take care of my wife with all my heart.”

He spoke so calmly that it sounded as though caring for her had always been his responsibility.

The moment Nyxia heard those words, her entire body tensed beneath the blanket.

Her fingers curled tightly into her palms.

She wanted to deny it.

She wanted to tell the doctor that the man standing in front of her wasn’t her husband at all.

But she held herself back.

She couldn’t let her act fall apart now.

Completely unaware of the tension filling the room, the doctor handed a few documents to Wilder.

“Please take care of the paperwork downstairs.

While you’re there, pick up her medication from the pharmacy.

One of the nurses will explain the dosage afterward.”

“Certainly.”

Wilder accepted the papers before turning toward Nyxia.

His gaze lingered on her just long enough to make her uncomfortable.

“Wait here, my beloved wife,” he said quietly.

“I won’t be long.”

Nyxia met his eyes with an expressionless face, though anger was already boiling inside her.

“Don’t call me that.”

Instead of backing down, Wilder’s smile only widened.

He leaned slightly closer to her bed, lowering his voice so only she could hear.

“Why not?

Am I not allowed to show affection to my wife?”

Nyxia bit the inside of her cheek.

“You’re unbelievable…”

Looking thoroughly satisfied with her reaction, Wilder straightened up.

“Get some rest.

I’ll be back soon.”

He turned and walked toward the door.

Just before leaving the room, he glanced back one last time and offered her the same faint smile that only made the tightness in her chest worse.

Then he disappeared.

The room suddenly felt much quieter.

For the first time since waking up, Nyxia felt a small sense of relief now that Wilder was gone.

At the same time, her anxiety only deepened.

Because now…

only Magnus and Nova remained.

After Wilder left, silence settled over the ICU.

Magnus stood by the window, his hands tucked into his pockets, while Nova sat beside Nyxia’s bed.

Every so often, she glanced toward the door as if making sure Wilder had truly left.

A few moments later, Magnus turned around and looked at Nyxia.

“So…” he said evenly, “you really don’t remember anything about me?”

Nyxia met his gaze with practiced confusion before slowly shaking her head.

“No.”

Magnus fell silent.

Then, almost imperceptibly, his shoulders relaxed, as though a burden he had carried for a long time had finally been lifted.

“Thank goodness.”

The words slipped out before he seemed to realize it.

Nyxia’s heart clenched.

Nova let out a soft laugh before standing up and slipping her arm through Magnus’s, holding onto him possessively.

“Now you’re finally all mine,” she said cheerfully, sounding as though she had just won the greatest prize.

“There’s no one left to stand between us.”

Magnus didn’t deny it.

He didn’t pull away, either.

Instead, he simply allowed Nova to lean comfortably against his arm.

From her hospital bed, Nyxia watched them in silence.

She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

The two people she had trusted most stood before her as though she had never mattered.

Old memories surfaced one after another, flooding her mind without mercy.

Her chest tightened until even breathing became difficult.

She stared at her younger sister, unable to look away.

Was this really the Nova she had always known?

Ever since they were children, Nyxia had always been the one to give in.

If Nova wanted one of her dresses, Nyxia gave it to her without hesitation.

If Nova liked one of her handbags, Nyxia handed it over without a single complaint.

Even when their parents openly favored Nova, Nyxia chose to stay silent.

After they grew up, nothing changed.

She helped Nova buy an apartment.

She transferred money whenever her sister was struggling.

She fulfilled almost every request Nova ever made.

She had never once stopped to count everything she had given.

Because Nova was her only sister.

But now…

Nova wanted Magnus.

And without the slightest trace of guilt, she had taken the man Nyxia loved most.

As for Magnus…

Nyxia bit the inside of her lip, forcing herself not to cry.

She remembered standing beside him while he built his company from nothing.

When he couldn’t afford the office rent, she quietly paid it for him.

When his company was on the verge of bankruptcy, she sold part of her own assets without ever asking for anything in return.

She had always believed that one day, every sacrifice she made would lead them to a happy ending.

How foolish she had been.

She had only pretended to lose her memory for a few minutes…

yet the masks worn by the two people she loved most had already fallen away.

What had started as a childish little act, hoping Magnus would worry about her and finally pay attention to her again, had instead revealed the cruelest truth of her entire life.
