Jay-Jay POV:
(Where on earth did yuri go?)
My head was spinning, still struggling to wrap itself around everything that was happening.
I wandered toward the back of the house, looking for that red-headed rooster, intending to ask him what was going on.
But as I stepped into the backyard, I caught the tail end of him on the phone, his voice laced with sharp frustration.
“How many times do I have to say it?” Yuri snapped into the receiver, his tone harsh and tense.
“I’ll do my work, you don’t have to worry about it!
It’s not the right time now…
I need some time!”
Before I could turn around and slip away, his eyes snapped toward me.
I quickly put on a fake smile, pretending I had just walked in, and told him to come back inside.
He followed me back, but my mind was completely consumed by the hit list.
What if what I saw on that hit list was actually true?
I desperately wanted to trust Yuri, but the knot in my stomach told me otherwise.
An uneasy tension settled between us, making me feel deeply uncomfortable around him.
When we reached the front, Yuri excused himself, claiming he had urgent work to attend to, and left.
Since it was getting late, I hailed a cab home.
By the time I stepped through the front door, it was only 6:30 PM.
Aries—that horoscope enthusiast—was sitting in the living room.
He didn’t question me since I had already texted him earlier, and thankfully, Kuya Angelo wasn’t home yet.
I went straight to my room, took a long shower, and collapsed onto my bed.
Reaching for my phone, I saw a string of new notifications from the King of Ulupongs.
Text Messages:
From King:
(Yes, I changed his contact name again)
I’m sorry I had to leave so suddenly due to urgent work.
I’ll make it up to my queen tomorrow.
To king:
Okay.
But is everything fine?
From King:
Yeah, it’s just Kegian.
He locked himself in his room again.
To King:
Okay.
From King:
Good night, my queen.
Try not to have wet dreams about me.
(This guy seriously knows how to get under my skin)
To King:
Good night!

I set my phone aside and headed downstairs for dinner.
Yuri had returned by then, as he was currently staying with us.
I ate as quickly as I could, avoiding eye contact, and hurried back upstairs.
The moment my head hit the pillow, the exhaustion took over, and I drifted into a heavy sleep.
