The classroom buzzes with chatter.

Laughter, whispers, papers rustling—but Akira Tamayama sits apart, a mask hiding his face.

A soft breeze brushes his cheeks, ruffling the papers on his desk.

In front of him, his pouch rests quietly.

There’s something in his gaze, a secret he’s keeping from everyone

Akira leans back slightly in his chair, mask in place, eyes glancing around the room before settling on the reader.

Akira: “Hey there My name is Akira Tamayama.

Just your Ordinary average introverted high school student”

Akira: “As usual, I was half-blending into the background, pretending not to care, when suddenly the whole class erupted in excitement.

Transfer day.

I barely paid attention… until I saw her.

today.”She walked in—a girl, yes, but not just any girl.

There was a soft, almost glowing aura around her, like she belonged somewhere else entirely.

Her uniform was flawless, skirt perfectly neat, shoes polished.

Skinny, long legs, posture like a model… and those looks… damn.

The boys were already whispering, stealing glances.

Even I… couldn’t help but notice.”

Hanoka: “I’m Hanoka Todoka.

I’m heir to a large company, and I’ll be studying with you all starting today.

Teacher: “Any questions?”

Whole Class (except Akira, of course): “Do you have a boyfriend?

If not, I nominate myself!”

“Are you a model?”

Hanoka (smiling faintly): “I’m single.

And… teacher, may I ask a question?

,From That masked student?”.

Teacher: “Go ahead.”

Akira froze.

His heart skipped a beat, and he stammered nervously:

Akira: “S-sure… g-go a-ahead.”

Hanoka (turning to him): “Why are you wearing a mask?”

Akira (coldly): “That’s none of your business.”

The boys in class snickered.

Class Boys: “He wears a mask because he’s ugly!

And also… an airhead!”

Hanoka (unfazed, tilting her head): “I see… By the way, teacher, where’s my seat?”

Teacher: “Next to Akira.”.

Akira:”Next to me..?!!

of all the empty seats in the classroom why next to me!!???.”

Teacher: ”You don’t make the rules I do!.”

Teacher said Shouting

Teacher: ”Now hanoka go sit next to akira.”

I kept my eyes forward as Hanoka walked down the aisle.

Every step she took felt louder than it should have been.

Boys followed her with their eyes on her looking as she was a celebrity

She stopped beside my desk.

I could smell a soft, clean fragrance as she placed her bag down.

She pulled the chair back and sat

Just like that

She was sitting next to me

Too close.

I shifted slightly into my seat.

Pretending to organize my notebook

She leaned over a little.

I could feel the glances from other boys when she leaned over to talk to me

I could hear like “Why she is talking to that Introvert” ”talk to me MY DARLING I LOVE YOU”

Hanoka(Soft voice): ”Akira right?…”

Akira: ”Yeah.”

Silence

The classroom slowly returned to normal.

Teacher started writing on the board.

Chalk scratching and pages flipping.

Whispers fading

But I could still feel her presence

Then she spoke again

Hanoka: “You don’t talk much.”

Akira(flat): ”I don’t need to.”

She blinked, Clearly not expecting the answer

Instead of getting annoyed She…smiled

Not a big smile

A small one

Like she found it interesting

Hanoka: ”You seem different.”

I didn’t reply

After a moment, She leaned back into her chair

Hanoka; ”Everyone stared at me like I was some kind of trophy.”

I finally glanced at her

Hanoka: ”But you didn’t.”

Akira: ”Not interested.”

Her eyes were quiet and observant

Then she spoke again

Hanoka: ”You are lying.”

That hit

I gripped my pen tighter

Their gazes burned into my back—stronger… scarier… deadlier

The break bell rang.

Desks scraped as students started pulling out their lunches.

I opened my bag quietly.

That’s when Hanoka leaned closer.

Hanoka (softly): “Wanna do lunch with me?”

I didn’t look at her.

Akira (cold): “No.”

The classroom atmosphere shifted instantly.

A few boys slammed their desks and turned toward me.

Boy #1: “HEY YOU SILENT NOBODY!

You think you can be cold to Miss Hanoka while we’re here?!”

I closed my bag.

Slow.

Calm.

Akira: “She’s the one who chose to talk to me.

I didn’t.”

They stood up.

Boy #2: “Blaming HER again?!

We’ll beat you up to pieces, Akira!”

I rose from my seat.

Pulled brass knuckles from my pocket.

Metal clicked softly as I slipped them on.

Akira: “I’m ready.

Come on.”

Their confidence cracked.

They stepped back.

Boy #1: “C-calm down, man… we don’t wanna fight…”

I tilted my head slightly.

Akira: “Oh yeah?

Scared now?”

Then I turned to Hanoka.

Akira: “What is this?

Your social circle?”

She shook her head immediately.

Hanoka (quiet):

“No.

I didn’t tell them to do this.

I just transferred here.

They’re acting on their own.”

I turned back to the boys.

I lifted my head slowly and met their eyes.

The room went silent.

They froze.

I slipped my hands into my pockets and walked out of the classroom.

Behind me, Hanoka stayed—calming them down.

I reached the school’s rooftop and sat at my usual place.

Unaware that Hanoka was searching for me across the whole school.

To my surprise, the rooftop door suddenly swung open.

That’s when I saw her.

Breathing heavy.

Exhausted.

Tired.

Hanoka (panting): “Th-there you are… I found you… after all…”

I quickly adjusted my mask, turning away slightly.

She looked exhausted.

Breathing heavy.

Sweat on her forehead.

My voice came out less cold than before.

Akira: “What do you want?

Why do you keep following me?”

She clenched her fists.

Hanoka: “Why are you so cold to me?

Why aren’t you interested in me?

Why?!

Tell me—WHY?!”

I didn’t raise my voice.

Akira (calm, cold): “I don’t have interest.”

Her eyes widened.

Hanoka: “Do you have a girlfriend or something?”

Akira: “No.

I’m single.

I just don’t have interest in you.

So stay away from me.”

I turned and walked toward the rooftop door.

Then—

I heard it.

Crying.

At first, I thought she was acting.

But when I turned back, she was covering her face.

Her shoulders shaking.

I walked closer.

Akira: “Why are you crying?”

She looked up at me, tears streaming down.

Hanoka: “Y-you… you told me to stay away from you… I just transferred here… I didn’t do anything to you… not in this life or any past life… I just wanted to make friends with you… why do you treat me so coldly?”

I paused.

My voice softened slightly.

Akira:

“I know.

But I don’t want friends.

I’m better off alone.

Friends betray.

Friends hurt.”

She wiped her tears roughly.

Hanoka: “No matter what you say… I’m not giving up on being friends with you.”

Then she murmured something so quietly I couldn’t hear it.

Her lips moved.

Friends… is just an excuse.

I turned away.

Left the rooftop.

Unaware of what she had whispered.

Behind me, Hanoka stood bathed in sunlight.

Her uniform soaked with tears.

Makeup ruined.

She clenched her fists and shouted softly into the empty air:

Hanoka: “Akira… no matter what you do… I’ll make you fall in love with me.”
