Stepping out of the bathroom and shutting the door behind her, Vaggie stood up straight, brushed a strand of hair out of her eye, and gazed tentatively at Charlie, who’d been sitting in one of the sofa chairs by the fireplace, but now stood and approached with a bright smile painted across her lips.

A smile that made Vaggie feel a bit self-conscious about her extra effort to look suitable for the day ahead.

Fidgeting with the hem of her skirt for a moment before she forced them still, she asked just above a whisper, “Well?”Full novel: Angels’ Demon Book 2 – Found Family — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Looking her angelic girlfriend up and down, Charlie Morningstar took in Vaggie’s outfit, softly smirking at the work she’d put in for her upcoming date with Kevin.

It wasn’t a major change from her usual style, but Charlie noticed the crisp press of her carefully ironed shirt and skirt, the styled hair with a new bow after a trim by Razzle that morning, and the lipstick—dark and subtle, catching the light with a faint shimmer.

The shade wasn’t bold, but it highlighted her lips with just enough shine to sparkle when she moved.

The lipstick was what caught Charlie’s attention the most.

In the years they’d been together, she could count on one hand the number of times Vaggie had bothered with makeup outside of their romantic dates together.

The fact that she’d chosen to wear it today fueled the little tease in her tone, “You look gorgeous!” Charlie fawned.

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were out to seduce my boyfriend.”

Vaggie’s soft, flushed cheeks darkened, and she stuttered, “S—stop it!

You know I don’t feel that way about him!”

But the way she was fidgeting, Charlie couldn’t help but tease her more.

“I know that, Vaggie, but you’re wearing makeup.

And you don’t like makeup.”

Blowing a breath past her lips, Vaggie shrugged with exaggerated indifference.

“I just want to look extra nice for my armor.

That’s all.”

Leaning in, Charlie planted a gentle kiss on Vaggie’s lightly dusted cheek.

“And you do.

I didn’t mean to be so teasing or make you uncomfortable, Vaggie.” She gave her girlfriend an adoring look, “I just see a beautiful angel that Kevin is going to be very lucky to have on his arm today.”

Tracing a finger over the cheek Charlie kissed, Vaggie’s eye glinted.

“Well, he did ask me out on a real date, so I have to look the part, don’t I?”

“And you most definitely do!” Charlie confirmed.

Lifting her shoulders, Vaggie explained, “Good.

‘Cause I want to show him a good time out there.

Show him Hell isn’t all sin and vice and that there are many places to enjoy that aren’t wrapped up in violence and death.”

“And teach him how Hell works along the way.” Charlie added as her expression faded from joy to concern.

“He’s going to need that.”

“He’ll be fine,” Vaggie assured her.

“We both will.

Don’t worry, it’s gonna be fun.” She smirked then, accepting Charlie’s earlier tease. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

“But it’ll be the first time I’ve ever been on a date with a man.” She paused, lips twisting uncertainly, “I just hope I don’t fuck it up.”

Smirking back, Charlie licked her lips.

“It’s no different than when we go out, except without the flirting.” She winked at Vaggie.

“Not that I wouldn’t mind if you did, of course.”

Another light blush colored Vaggie’s cheeks as she pondered the idea.

“Well, I didn’t feel icky lying with him that first morning.

He is truly a gentleman, and I felt completely at ease.

So…” Vaggie hesitated in confessing with a question in her tone.

“Maybe I’ll let him hold my hand today?”

“Ooh, Kinky.” Charlie hummed.

“Stop!” Vaggie groused playfully.

“You’re sounding like Angel Dust!”

Adopting Angel Dust’s accent, Charlie poked Vaggie on the nose.

“All da bettah to tease ya wit’, babe!”

Giggling back, Vaggie cupped Charlie’s cheek and leaned in for a loving kiss.

Just then, there was a knock at the suite’s door.

Charlie hummed into the kiss before breaking away, calling out, “It’s after 8; you don’t have to knock, Kevin!”

The large double doors swung open, revealing Kevin framed in the doorway, the warm light from the hallway spilling into the suite behind him.

He was dressed in his sangria shirt without the work vest, a black necktie hanging down his chest.

As he turned to shut the doors, he said, “Usually, I wouldn’t.

But I didn’t know what state of undress Vaggie might be in.” When the doors clicked shut, he turned and paused, his eyes finally sweeping over the smaller angel’s form.

He let out a low whistle in appreciation.

“Wow.”

Another flush swam over Vaggie’s cheeks, but she squared her shoulders and did a one-turn to show off.

“Like?”

Stepping into the room, Kevin bowed slightly.

“I knew we’d be going casual for the day, but you’re stunning, Vaggie.” His eyes said as much as they scanned from her feet to her head, “I like the new style of bow, too.”

Grinning, Charlie came up to him and slid her hand along Kevin’s arm, then leaned in to kiss him tenderly.

As her lips brushed his ear, she whispered loud enough for Vaggie to hear, “And she’s wearing makeup, Kevin.” She playfully bit his earlobe, adding, “She never wears makeup unless she’s expecting hanky-panky.”

“CHARLIE!” Vaggie sputtered and spun away, her cheeks burning bright.

For his part, Kevin shared in the blush, both from Charlie’s playful nip as she pressed her body against his and the words she’d said.

However, he saw just how mortified Vaggie was from the tease and chose not to add to it.

Instead, keeping his expression even, he called out to Vaggie, “Has she been teasing you like this the whole time?” Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

“Mercilessly,” Vaggie confirmed, adjusting her shirt as she turned back around, fighting to keep a straight face.

“And no!

I’m not!

I..

I just thought it would be fun to dress up a little bit today.”

“You don’t have to explain anything,” Kevin promised.

“But I do think the makeup looks really good on you.”

Tilting her head, grateful he didn’t pursue the tease for a point, she shared a genuine smile.

“Thank you, kind Sir.”

“However,” Kevin scratched his chin while giving Charlie a playful look, “Later tonight, do us both a favor?”

“What’s that?” Vaggie asked curiously.

“Spank this lil demon bitch tonight,” Kevin winked at Charlie.

“Seems the brat deserves it!”

“Kevin!” Charlie, her face crimson, punched him lightly on the shoulder.

But the idea did turn her on, so she turned toward Vaggie, nodding eagerly.

“He’s right.

I do deserve it.”

“Yes,” Vaggie agreed.

“You do.” She locked eyes with Kevin.

“Consider it done.”

Pinching Charlie’s ass, which got him a yelp as she jumped away laughing, Kevin then motioned toward the door.

“Then, shall we?”

Vaggie hesitated for a heartbeat, then stepped up to him, met his eyes, and with a fond look, nodded firmly.

“I’m ready.”

Both turned and leaned in to kiss Charlie on each cheek.

Warmth bloomed in the princess’s chest, and she giggled at the affection.

“Have fun, you two.”

“We will,” Vaggie promised.

“We’ll be back by 6 p.m., in time for dinner.” Kevin followed up.

The pair exited the bedroom, leaving the princess to watch as the doors closed slowly behind them.

Biting her lip, Charlie pondered if perhaps Vaggie wasn’t being completely honest with herself, because the way she’d looked at Kevin just now—while it wasn’t with romantic attraction, exactly, she could tell that there was something definitely there in her angel’s eye.

And it made Charlie wonder because, after all, Vaggie never did like wearing makeup.
