Chapter 7: Goddess Wife, Shehuang?

“Another Summoner?”

In the quiet sanctuary of his meditative inner-space, Loki focused his mind on his magical core. The sphere floated in his consciousness, glowing with a vibrant, translucent green hue. With deliberate mental precision, he began the grueling process of engraving. He etched intricate magical runes directly onto the core's surface, carving out the pre-cast pathways required for his spells.

For standard mages, casting was a physical performance. It required spoken incantations and precise hand gestures to guide mana efficiently from the heart's core into the physical world. While a mage could theoretically force mana through their heart silently and without movement, doing so required a double expenditure of energy—a burden most refused to bear.

Loki understood the strict limitations of his craft. At the first Circle level, a mage was restricted to knowing only three spells. The magical core was like a small ball; if a mage attempted to write a diary on its surface, they would find only enough room for three pages. To expand, he needed to absorb atmospheric magic through meditation, though absorbing power from Demonic Cores was vastly more efficient. Once the existing runes were fully saturated with energy, the core would expand, granting entry to the 2nd Circle. This process added a new layer to the sphere, yet because 2nd Circle spells were inherently more complex and demanded greater surface area, the limit remained fixed at three spells per level.

Furthermore, these engraved pathways allowed for cosmetic variation. A standard Fire Mage might launch a basic, baseball-sized fireball using the Fire Bolt spell, while another might project a plasma-like beam called Flame Ray. Despite the stylistic divergence, the underlying magical efficacy and damage remained identical.

Loki opened his eyes, sensing a profound shift echoing through his mind, body, and soul. He climbed out of the expansive, luxurious bed, stepping off the white sheets and blue covers to walk toward the patio doors.

The hinges gave a soft, rhythmic click and squeak as the door swung open. Outside, the early morning landscape remained blanketed in deep darkness.

The backyard garden was meticulously arranged, filled with vibrant flowers, manicured bushes, and ornamental stone furniture. Loki frowned slightly, realizing the beautiful, fragile surroundings offered no safe targets for spell testing.

"Loki? Why are you out here instead of practicing your spells?" a voice called out from the doorway. "Do you need my assistance?"

Loki turned to find Duchess Sylvia Sky returning from her early morning duties. The moonlight caught her long silver hair, making it sparkle against the night, while her deep blue eyes held a subtle, glowing luminescence.

"I was looking for a target to test my magic," Loki replied with a smile, "but everything out here is too beautiful to destroy."

"Have you actually mastered the Element Bolt spell already?" Sylvia asked, her tone shifting to disbelief.

Loki stepped closer to her and nodded. "Actually, I have learned, etched, and modified all three of my Summoner spells. I can perform a summoning whenever requested."

Sylvia froze, her expression turning utterly stupefied. As a 9th Circle Time Mage and ruler of a vast duchy who had lived for over two centuries, the claim defied her understanding of magical progression. Loki waved his hand in front of her eyes to break the trance. "Sylvia? Are you alright? Are you just tired?"

Blinking rapidly, Sylvia gripped his shoulders with immense, surprising strength. "You aren't playing a joke on me, are you? Even the most brilliant mages require at least half a day to grasp a single introductory spell. It has only been two or three hours."

"It felt quite natural," Loki said simply. "All three are complete."

Sylvia stared at him for a long, silent interval, evaluating him as if looking at an anomaly. Then, driven by a sudden surge of excitement, she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him with a raw, unrefined passion. Loki held her close, recognizing her joy, but as the seconds passed, her movements grew more confident, drawing upon the kissing practice Loki had shared with Shade over the previous month.

Before either fully registered the transition, they moved backward into the bedroom, their actions driven by weeks of repressed emotion. Clothes were cast aside in the heat of the moment, breaching their previous vow against premarital relations. Sylvia lay back against the bed, her silver hair splaying across the pillows, her eyes heavy with anticipation.

Loki positioned himself above her silky, pale frame. As an eighteen-year-old virgin relying entirely on instinct, he paused briefly, holding himself up with his right arm while his left hand rested against her chest. He looked directly into her eyes as their breath mingled.

"This is my first time," Loki murmured. "Please forgive my lack of experience. May I proceed?"

Sylvia smiled gently, nodding her assent. "Others have told me the initiation is painful. Be gentle, Loki."

He pressed forward slowly, entering her body. A small trace of crimson stained the sheets, but Sylvia’s high-level, 9th Circle physique adapted to the penetration remarkably well. However, just as he managed to fully embed himself, her smile faltered, giving way to a sudden chuckle.

"My new husband," she teased softly, "I am no expert in these matters, but did you just finish already?"

Loki felt a wave of embarrassment. The intense warmth and smoothness of the embrace had completely overwhelmed his senses. "You are incredibly attractive, and I have held this in for eighteen years," he countered defensively. "But I can continue if you wish."

Sylvia reached up, gently rubbing his cheek as she shook her head. "Let us rest for now. We acted entirely on impulse and broke our word. You should reserve your initial enthusiasm for Shade tonight. But at least I have shown you the depth of my affection." She smiled beneath him, feeling the final, involuntary twitches of his release.

"Can I remain inside just a little longer?" Loki asked. "It feels comfortable."

"Only for a moment," Sylvia replied. "I must depart shortly to finalize the arrangements for our wedding, which takes place in twelve hours. Do not pout, Loki. We have a vast lifespan ahead of us to enjoy each other's company."

"Very well, I will defer to my Duchess wife," Loki conceded, "but I require one thing before you leave." Before she could question him, he leaned down, pressing his lips to her chest, drawing a sharp, sudden gasp from her lips.

An hour later, Loki sat soaking in the lavish bathtub of the master suite. The sound of soft footsteps on the tile floor signaled an arrival, though he knew Sylvia had already departed.

"Morning, Shade. How are the wedding preparations coming along?" Loki asked, turning his head.

Shade Winter walked to the edge of the tub, sitting down to stroke his hair in silence. Her lips pressed into a distinct pout, her expression guarded.

"Whatever rumors you heard... it was entirely my fault," Loki admitted quickly, stepping out of the bath. "I allowed my impulses to dictate my actions. It wasn't planned."

Activating his newly acquired Air aura, a localized gust of wind (Fwoosh) swept over his skin, instantly driving the moisture back into the tub and leaving him dry. He refrained from explaining the brevity of the encounter, knowing the betrayal lay in the act itself, not the duration. He reached out, gently taking her hands in his. "What must I do to earn your forgiveness?"

Shade lifted her chin, keeping her expression cool and detached. "I shall withhold my forgiveness until you ensure my pregnancy. You will have to exert yourself tonight after the ceremony. Furthermore, you must verbally reassure me of your love every single hour. Only then will we be even."

Loki offered a mental sigh at the demanding terms, but acknowledging her right to be upset, he leaned into the sentimentality. "Shade Winter, you are the woman I cherish above all others. I cannot imagine my life without you. I promise to forego sleep tonight to focus entirely on building our family."

Shade tilted her head, her loose white hair shifting over her shoulders. "An acceptable statement... but it requires a kiss to seal the contract." As Loki leaned in, she placed a finger against his lips, pointing toward his face. "Sylvia insisted that you shave, and I tend to agree with her. Shave first, then you may kiss me."

Loki's lip twitched in mild annoyance, bringing a faint, rare smile to Shade's face. It was only when her hands began tracing the contours of his torso that he realized he was still standing before her completely unclothed.

Approximately one hundred thousand miles to the far east, a frantic pursuit echoed through a dense, shadowed woodland. A group of four individuals sprinted through the dark terrain, the distant shouts of pursuing cultivators echoing through the trees behind them.

Leading the flight was Shehuang, a striking Yuan-ti snake-woman from the Eastern Wasteland. Her lower body consisted of an eleven-foot length of shimmering, midnight-black scales that glided over the forest floor like a dark mermaid. Her human upper torso stood at an elegant five feet, six inches, clad in scale-patterned leather that wrapped tightly around her waist and covered her chest. Her features carried the sharp, seductive aesthetics typical of her homeland, her golden eyes piercing the gloom while her long, silky black hair was pinned into intricate, traditional Chinese-style buns.

The elegance of her appearance was marred by a severe, bleeding sword wound slicing across the right side of her chest, giving her the desperate aura of a fallen femme fatale.

"Hiss... That wretched Jade Maiden and her Purple Cloud Sect," Shehuang spat, glancing back at the shadows. "I will exact vengeance for the slaughter of my clan."

"Master, they are gaining ground," her primary servant called out, halting abruptly. "Allow me to delay them so you can secure your escape. It has been an honor to serve you, my Queen."

Rather than arguing, Shehuang raised her hand and silently executed a banishment spell, sending her stubborn servant into a secure pocket dimension.

She turned her gaze to the second follower—a human woman wielding a traditional Jian sword—and repeated the spell. The third, a massive forty-foot Python Demonic Beast, was banished next. Finally, she looked to her most formidable companion, a melancholic Dark Elf who kept her eyes closed.

Before the elf could protest or offer a sacrificial defense, Shehuang banished her to the shared space as well.

"My mother's prophecy stated I must navigate this disaster alone," Shehuang muttered to herself, nursing her injury. "I cannot allow my remaining assets to be squandered in a futile stand. Remain there until it is safe."

Looking back, she caught sight of the arrogant Jade Sword Maiden leading the human sect through the trees. Shehuang’s blood-flecked lips curled into a disdainful sneer. "A pure maiden? Hardly... You traded your virtue to half the Immortal Cultivators in the region just to secure the forces to hunt me down."

Utilizing speeds rivaling an armored knight, Shehuang plunged deeper into the wilderness, her golden eyes scanning the terrain for an exit—and for the savior foretold to her.

"Mother promised that I would encounter my future husband within these woods, and that he would deliver me from this fate," she hissed under her breath, clutching her chest as she forced her failing body to run faster into the dark.
