Noah discovered the first real advantage of the Heaven Rewards Hard Work System on a rainy Tuesday evening.

It happened because he was bored.

Not the ordinary boredom of a teenager who had finished his homework and could not decide what to do next, but the particular frustration of someone who had spent several days repeating the same meditation exercises without understanding whether he was making meaningful progress.Full novel: APEX IN THE SHADOWS — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

His psychic energy was becoming easier to control, and he could move objects that had previously resisted him, but the improvement was gradual enough that he sometimes wondered whether he was measuring genuine advancement or merely becoming more familiar with the sensation.

He sat at his desk, watching a coin rotate above his palm.

One rotation.

Two.

Three.

The coin fell.

Noah caught it before it struck the desk.

“Again.”

He repeated the exercise, this time attempting to maintain the coin’s rotation while simultaneously moving a pencil across the desk.

The coin wobbled, the pencil rolled too far, and both objects dropped.

He leaned back in his chair.

There was no intelligence enhancement in his system.

No instant mastery, no automated cultivation assistant, and no hidden library containing the accumulated wisdom of immortal sages.

He had one gift, psychic energy, and a cultivation method he had to understand through experimentation.

He was going to need a better approach.

Noah closed his eyes and returned to the most basic exercise: breathing slowly, allowing his thoughts to settle, and observing the psychic sensation behind his forehead without attempting to manipulate it.

After several minutes, something became clear.

The sensation he called psychic energy was not a single, undifferentiated mass.

It had two qualities he could distinguish through practice.

One was the amount of energy he could gather and sustain.

The other was the precision with which he could direct it.

He had been treating them as the same thing.

That explained why some exercises became easier without producing a corresponding increase in strength.

His control was improving, but his reserves were growing at a different rate.

Separate energy accumulation from energy control.

Underneath it, he wrote:

A cultivation technique must be repeatable, safe, and understandable without personal supervision.

He stopped.

Then he wrote the next sentence.

If I can teach someone to cultivate without being present, I can build something that grows while I am doing something else.

That was the important insight.

The system had explicitly stated that psychic energy could be shared with other people and that the development of those users contributed to collective advancement.

Nothing in the description suggested that he had to be physically present when they cultivated.

If the method itself could be communicated, he might not need to train every person individually.

He could distribute the technique through written instructions, audio recordings, or even a simple website.

People could practise privately, at their own pace, without ever meeting him.

Noah began outlining the method.

He removed anything that required direct access to his own psychic energy.

He discarded complicated instructions that depended on sensations a beginner might not recognise.

He divided the practice into stages: breathing, attention, awareness, stabilisation, and gradual accumulation.

He added warnings against forcing concentration, continuing through severe discomfort, or treating unusual sensations as proof of supernatural advancement.

Then he tested the instructions himself, pretending he had never encountered psychic energy before.

The first draft was terrible.

The second was better.

The third was simple enough that an ordinary person could follow it without needing a teacher.

Noah named it the Quiet Mind Method.

He did not know whether the system would recognise it as a cultivation technique.

He did not know whether another person could develop psychic energy using instructions alone.

He did not even know whether everyone possessed the necessary talent. The source of this chapter is g.com.

But he had a testable hypothesis.

And he had no intention of announcing himself to the world merely to test it.

He created a new email address under a generic pseudonym, wrote a short introductory document describing the method as an experimental meditation practice, and prepared a small number of copies for anonymous distribution.

He would not mention supernatural powers.

He would not promise miraculous results.

He would not claim that people could become invincible by sitting quietly in their bedrooms.

He would simply provide a method for cultivating concentration and internal awareness.

If nothing happened, he would have lost a little time.

If something happened, he would have learned something valuable.

Before sending anything, he returned to meditation and concentrated on the psychic sensation itself.

A faint notification appeared.

[HEAVEN REWARDS HARD WORK SYSTEM]

Method development acknowledged.

No advancement awarded.

Continued practice required.

Noah stared at the message.

“Of course.”

The system did not reward him for having an idea.

It required him to put the idea into practice.

He saved the document and prepared to distribute the first copies.

For the first time since receiving the gift pack, Noah had found a way to make progress that did not depend entirely on the hours he could personally spend meditating.

He could train himself.

He could teach others.

And he could do both without revealing his identity.

That was a much more interesting possibility than moving a coin across a desk.
