Xiao Yi’s arrival instantly plunged everyone on the gymnasium roof into fear.
The image of him beheading the hulking zombie remained vivid in their minds. As they stared at the blood still dripping from his Mo blade, every one of them trembled.
Clutching his baseball bat, Shen Jiabin took an unsteady step forward.
“What... What do you want?”
Xiao Yi looked at him and frowned.
He remembered arriving at the university as a freshman and enthusiastically applying to join the basketball team.
Shen Jiabin and Gu Fanghua had been responsible for assessing new applicants.
They had rejected Xiao Yi without even considering him.
Worse, they had called him a “level-ten cripple” in front of a crowd of students.
“You were the one who gave me the middle finger earlier, weren’t you?” Xiao Yi asked expressionlessly.
“So what if I was? Xiao Yi, right? I remember you!” Shen Jiabin tightened his grip on the bat and spoke cautiously. “We’re all classmates. We appreciate that you risked your life to rescue us. Tell us what you want in return.”
“Who said I came to rescue you?”
Xiao Yi laughed coldly, stepped forward, and tore the bat from Shen Jiabin’s hands. Then he slapped him viciously across the face.
“I came to teach you a lesson, you piece of trash. Provoke me again, and I’ll kill you.”
When he finished, Xiao Yi looked past him at Tang Jingyan.
“I can take one person back to my shelter, but my shelter accepts women only.”
He had not originally intended to care whether these people lived or died, but the moment he saw Tang Jingyan, he changed his mind.
He remembered what his roommate had once said: If I ever win over the yoga goddess, I’ll unlock every position with her.
Xiao Yi was not lacking beautiful women. In terms of her face alone, Tang Jingyan might not even compare with Ling Xueya.
But she possessed both a flawless body and the title of yoga goddess.
Either quality would make her the object of any man’s fantasies.
Xiao Yi was a normal man. Naturally, he wanted her.
If Tang Jingyan agreed to return with him, he would not mind taking her.
As for the other two women, neither was a peerless beauty, but both were attractive enough. Xiao Yi would not object to rescuing them as a little variety in his life.
“Cousin! Are you all right?” Tang Jingyan hurried forward and took hold of Shen Jiabin. Then she glared furiously at Xiao Yi. “Sorry, but we don’t need your help!”
Shen Jiabin covered the scarlet handprint on his cheek. His eyes twitched and his fists clenched until the knuckles whitened.
Yet he could not force out a single word.
The sight of Xiao Yi’s bloodstained Mo blade had terrified him.
The other three men still held their weapons, but not one dared take a step forward.
“In that case, farewell.”
Xiao Yi turned and prepared to leap from the roof.
At that moment, Lin Mancha seemed to reach a final decision. She rushed to his side.
“My name is Lin Mancha. I’m willing to go with you! Will you take me?”
Her actions clearly shocked the others. Zhuang Qiang’s eyes bulged with fury.
“Fuck! I knew this ungrateful bitch was a traitor!”
He had lusted after Lin Mancha for a long time and believed she was nearly within his grasp. Now another man had appeared from nowhere and was about to take her away. How could he not be furious?
Even Xiao Yi looked at her in surprise.
Lin Mancha’s elegant almond-shaped eyes blinked with innocent vitality, clear and pure as a mountain spring.
Her petite nose was flawless, without the slightest blemish or blackhead.
Her cherry-red lips were pressed together in nervous anticipation.
She was a naturally beautiful, innocent young woman.
Combined with the ballet skirt she wore, it was obvious that Miss Lin Mancha was an accomplished ballerina.
“I can take you. There are already three women at my shelter, so you’ll have company.” Xiao Yi was satisfied with both her appearance and her identity as a ballerina, but his warning remained stern. “Once you enter my shelter, however, you must obey my arrangements and follow my rules. Think carefully. If you break those rules and I throw you out, you may die a very unpleasant death.”
“Mancha! Have you lost your mind?” Tang Jingyan shouted angrily. “We know nothing about this man, and you’re going to follow him? Aren’t you afraid he has ulterior motives?”
“As if they don’t!”
Tears streamed down Lin Mancha’s face as she pointed at Zhuang Qiang and the other men.
“They don’t even have the courage to search for food. Do you honestly feel safe following men like them? At least this stranger is powerful enough to protect me!”
She turned back to Xiao Yi and nodded firmly.
“I’ve made my decision. I’m willing to go with you!”
The slap Xiao Yi had given Shen Jiabin had exposed how helpless all four men truly were.
Remembering what Zhuang Qiang and Shen Jiabin had said during their meeting, she finally committed herself.
Following this stranger might cost her virginity, but a man this powerful could at least help her live longer—and live better—in the apocalypse.
“Good.” Xiao Yi nodded, wrapped an arm around Lin Mancha’s waist, and lifted her onto his back. Then he turned and began climbing down from the roof.
