Chapter 22: Aftermath

Apocalypse Online: I Awaken the Ultimate Bloodline

Lothe slowly opened his eyes. Judging by the blood-red sky, it was still very early in the morning.

The chill in the air told him dawn had only just arrived.

"System, show my status."

Looking at his stats, Lothe wasn’t surprised.

Yesterday’s battle had drained all of his Attribute Points, but it had also rewarded him with 285 EXP.

He still needed 115 EXP to break through to Level 2. If he wanted to leave this place alive, he needed to level up as quickly as possible.

His gaze shifted to his remaining AP.

Zero.

Unlike EXP, Attribute Points couldn’t be earned through battle. They were only obtained after breaking through to a new Tier.

Sigh...

He wondered whether doing push-ups or some form of physical training could increase his AP.

Since the System had never suggested such a thing, it probably meant that if it was possible at all, it would be an extremely slow method.

Closing the System window, his gaze drifted toward the sleeping Seana.

Even while asleep, she looked mesmerizing.

Her long black hair flowed across her back as she hugged her pillow peacefully, looking as though she hadn’t gone through a life-and-death battle just yesterday.

As if sensing his gaze, Seana slowly opened her eyes.

She looked at him in confusion for a brief moment before yesterday’s events rushed back into her mind.

Right... The apocalypse.

She spent a few minutes checking her own status before turning back toward him.

"Good morning," she greeted.

Lothe nodded.

As he got out of bed, Seana did the same. They both had plenty to do today, and neither intended to waste time.

Suddenly, Lothe froze. "Right!"

He hurried to his bag and pulled out two glowing orbs.

One shone with an azure light.

The other radiated silver.

These were the orbs that had dropped after the battle with Oren and Diego.

Without hesitation, he channeled Qi into the azure orb.

[You have gained 10 AP.]

"...Whoa." His eyes widened.

He quickly activated the silver orb.

[You have gained 50 AP.]

Lothe nearly jumped in excitement.

These two orbs had completely solved his biggest problem.

He now had 60 Attribute Points.

"System, allocate fifteen points to each of my attributes."

The moment the command was completed. warmth surged through his body.

His muscles tightened, and the flow of Qi within his meridians became smoother and more vigorous than before.

Lothe slowly clenched his fist, feeling the newfound strength coursing through his body.

Seeing the questioning look on Seana’s face, he explained,

"It seems the azure and silver orbs contain Attribute Points."

Seana’s eyes immediately lit up.

"Then bring out the rest of the orbs."

She was also lacking Attribute Points. No one knew what kind of enemies they would face today.

Lothe emptied every orb from his bag, including those stored inside his Space Ring.

Unfortunately...

Most of them were only yellow, orange, and red.

Both of them already knew what those colors represented.

Lower-grade and Common-grade treasure orbs.

Useful...

But not what they currently needed.

Just as Seana was about to look away, a faint silver glow caught her attention beneath a pile of yellow orbs.

She quickly pushed the others aside. A silver orb slowly rolled into view.

Lothe blinked twice before laughing inwardly.

What kind of ridiculous luck is this?

Not many people could be this fortunate.

Without wasting any time, Seana absorbed the orb.

A bright smile spread across her face as she immediately distributed the fifty Attribute Points she had received.

"So the silver orbs give fifty Attribute Points..." she muttered.

Her smile, however, soon faded as she looked at her EXP.

She still needed more experience before she could break through.

And the only way to obtain that...

...was through battle.

Sigh... For just a brief moment, Seana felt that life had become incredibly difficult.

"So..." she asked.

"What do you think we’ll get from the other orbs?"

"Only one way to find out." Lothe reached for one of the red orbs.

"Wait." Seana suddenly stopped him.

Lothe looked at her.

"To be honest... I don’t think we need more equipment right now."

"After yesterday’s battle, we’ve already obtained quite a lot."

Lothe thought about it.

She wasn’t wrong, their current priority should be breaking through.

Only then would their techniques improve, along with their overall strength.

Besides...

He had a feeling the System would undergo a massive change once he reached Level 5.

"Okay." Seana blinked.

"Just like that?" She had expected him to argue with her or at least question her decision.

"Yes," Lothe replied with a grin.

"What you said makes sense."

Besides... I should start giving my future wife a few privileges.

He kept that last part to himself.

"Let’s save them for now."

"Okay." Satisfied, Seana walked toward the sack containing the provisions they had gathered yesterday.

She took out her Shadow Weaver Cloak and draped it over herself.

The oversized cloak immediately adjusted to fit her body.

From the side, Lothe instinctively looked away.

The brief moment before it resized had revealed her graceful figure.

Seana, meanwhile, experimented with the cloak.

’Can it change styles too?’ She imagined it as a black lab coat.

Immediately, the cloak transformed, reshaping itself into a perfectly fitted black lab coat.

A smile appeared on her face. "This is much more comfortable."

Lothe turned back. Seeing her fully dressed in the black lab coat, he secretly let out a sigh of relief.

Even he didn’t know when he had started feeling so protective of her.

"Looks like you’ll be starting your work," he joked.

"Yep."

"I promised I’d treat them when we rescued them yesterday. I don’t have enough medical equipment, but I’ll do whatever I can."

"If that’s the case," Lothe said, "I’ll come with you. It’ll make things faster. Afterward, we can head out to hunt."

"Are you sure?" She smiled teasingly.

"You might get bored listening to all the medical gibberish."

Lothe looked at her. "I don’t mind."

Especially if it’s with you.

Those words never left his lips.

Together, they stepped outside...

Ready to face the apocalypse once more.
