Tiger praised, shooting Yuna Bishop an appreciative glance.
Once the system announced the quest, the three of them were suddenly on the same page.
They lost all interest in continuing to search the hospital.
‘Medical supplies?
The quest rewards had them, didn’t they?’
‘One person’s reward might not be enough for their own use, but the rewards of three people would definitely be enough for one person.’
“You, get in front!”
Tiger snarled at Scrawny.
Scrawny was reluctant, but with all the weapons in Tiger’s hands, he had no choice.
The hospital wing they were in wasn’t far from the main gate.
The open area outside was clear of zombies, making an escape through the main entrance the best option.
The three headed for the stairwell.
Scrawny was in the lead, Yuna Bishop was in the middle, and Tiger brought up the rear.
Yuna Bishop walked in silence, observing the surrounding terrain through a window.
They were on the third floor of the hospital; it wasn’t too high up, which she considered good news.
As they reached a bend in the stairs, they could clearly see several zombies shuffling along the second-floor corridor.
Players had their stat panels, and zombies, naturally, had them too.
Not a single one of those zombies had less than 100 Blood Volume.
Yuna Bishop didn’t turn around, but she snuck a glance at Tiger behind her using her peripheral vision.
He only had seven bolts for his Crossbow.
‘Assuming each bolt deals 30 points of Blood Volume, he could kill two zombies at most.’
‘Besides, Scrawny, the man in front of her, looked like he was itching to cause trouble.’
Yuna Bishop hadn’t forgotten that Scrawny’s Talent was Sprinting Champion, which boosted his speed.
And neither had Tiger.
“These zombies are slow,” Yuna Bishop said in a low voice.
“It shouldn’t be too hard for the three of us to take them out.”
Indeed it wasn’t hard, but it would require the three of them to work together and accept a certain amount of risk.
‘But the three of them… they were a complete mess, incapable of teamwork.’
Tiger pursed his lips and kicked Scrawny squarely in the back!
‘Compared to the potential danger Scrawny posed, Yuna Bishop was far easier to control.’
‘With two men present, it was only natural to deal with the other man first.’
The kick sent Scrawny stumbling, and he tumbled straight down the stairs!
Instantly, all the nearby zombies were drawn to the commotion!
‘Tiger was sacrificing someone else for his own sake.’
“Let’s go!”
Tiger yelled to Yuna Bishop, and they bolted down the stairs while the zombies were distracted by Scrawny.
Yuna Bishop followed close behind, her heart sinking.
The zombies were slow during the day and their attacks weren’t that strong.
Aided by his Talent, Scrawny actually managed to break out of the zombies’ encirclement after getting scratched twice!
Tiger had the Crossbow and a dagger, so Scrawny didn’t dare run ahead of him.
That meant Yuna Bishop, the only woman, naturally became the target.
As Yuna Bishop was desperately running for her life, someone yanked her backward, and she slammed hard onto the ground!
At a moment like this, Yuna Bishop couldn’t afford to worry about anything else.
She scrambled back to her feet, ignored the gash on her knee, and forced herself to run faster!
Because of Scrawny’s stunt, all the zombies in front of the building had been drawn over!
A dense horde of zombies followed relentlessly behind them.
Seeing the sheer number of zombies behind them, Tiger’s expression darkened.
Without hesitation, he aimed his Crossbow at Yuna Bishop, who was bringing up the rear.
He intended to sacrifice Yuna Bishop to buy himself time to escape.
He would have preferred to kill Scrawny, but…
well, it was Yuna Bishop’s own fault for being weak.
Yuna Bishop had been keeping a close eye on the two men ahead of her.
She had fully expected Tiger to pull a stunt like this.
The instant Tiger turned, Yuna Bishop had already veered off in another direction, falling a step behind them but also putting herself closer to the zombies.
Tiger’s bolt missed its mark, and a seed of hatred for Yuna Bishop took root in his heart.
By then, he no longer had time to fire a second bolt.
The horde of zombies split into two groups; one chased after Yuna Bishop, while the other pursued Tiger and Scrawny.
When it came to Speed, Tiger was no match for Scrawny.
Having rounded the corner, Yuna Bishop ran for her life, pushing herself to run faster than she ever had before.
But she wasn’t running aimlessly.
Soon, a row of trees and a perimeter wall came into view.
Yuna Bishop surged forward, leaped onto a tree, scrambled up to the top of the wall, and vaulted over.
She landed smoothly on the other side.
“Player has completed the side quest.
Rewards have been issued.
Please claim them promptly.”
Having escaped the zombie horde by climbing the wall, Yuna Bishop didn’t have time to rest.
She followed the wall and quickly snuck toward the hospital’s main gate.
The main gate area was deserted.
The iron gate itself was locked tight.
Apparently, Tiger and Scrawny still hadn’t made it out of the hospital.
Without Yuna Bishop to use as a sacrifice, and with an army of zombies on their heels, the two of them naturally tried to use each other as a shield.
The only result of such an attempt was mutual destruction.
Yuna Bishop hid inside the guardhouse, quietly observing the situation.
The roars of the zombies grew closer, and she spotted the injured figures of Tiger and Scrawny.
She held her breath, concealing herself from view.
Having reached the gate, Scrawny used his thin frame to force his way through a narrow gap.
Once outside, he picked up a rock from the ground!
Tiger was right behind him.
Lacking Scrawny’s slender build and a key, his only option was to climb over the gate.
The moment he landed, Scrawny attacked him!
The two men immediately locked in a desperate struggle.
Hiding in the guardhouse, Yuna Bishop tightened her grip on her small knife.
Between Scrawny and Tiger, Tiger ultimately had the upper hand.
His Physical Strength and Blood Volume were greater than that of Yuna Bishop and Scrawny combined!
However, Scrawny had put up a desperate fight, and Tiger had sustained considerable injuries, as evidenced by his ragged breathing.
‘Now!’
Yuna Bishop exploded into action, bursting out of the guardhouse and viciously plunging her knife into Tiger’s carotid artery!
Blood gushed out in an instant.
The zombies inside the gate pounded excitedly on the iron bars, which seemed ready to give way.
Tiger turned in disbelief, perhaps surprised that Yuna Bishop was still alive, or perhaps that she had dared to attack him.
It no longer mattered.
He collapsed heavily to the ground.
Yuna Bishop’s face was a mask of indifference, showing none of the reaction one would expect from someone who had just killed another living person.
She crouched down and quickly snatched the cards and small pouches floating over Tiger’s and Scrawny’s bodies, along with the Crossbow and bolts, then turned and fled.
The rusted-out gate wouldn’t hold for much longer.
Sure enough, not long after Yuna Bishop had gone, the gate collapsed with a deafening crash, releasing all the zombies that had been trapped inside the hospital!
They greedily and frantically devoured the corpses on the ground.
The fleshy bodies were quickly reduced to stark white bones.
By this time, Yuna Bishop had already found refuge in a residential house near the hospital.
She sat on the floor, gasping for breath, trying to calm her violently pounding heart as she took out the items from the two players.
