After finishing his little speech, Mo looked around and noticed the group of people standing in the distance, all of them wearing completely bewildered expressions.
As if he had discovered some kind of treasure, he excitedly waved them over.
The Infected had been looking around in confusion, completely at a loss.
But when they noticed Mo signaling for them to come over, they exchanged glances.
After a moment of silence, they began frantically communicating with hand gestures.
One pointed at Mo, then at himself, and finally used one hand to mimic walking across the other.
(Boss Mo is calling us. Let’s go over.)
Another nodded, pointed at Roman, who was still sitting on the ground in self-isolation, then twirled a finger beside his temple, spread his hands helplessly, pointed at the other Infected present, and finally pointed back at Roman.
(Yeah, Roman’s brain is completely fried. There’s no saving him. Which one of you is going to wake him up?)
Everyone looked at one another.
Then, in perfect unison, they pointed toward the Infected who was closest to Roman and waved him over.
(You’re close to him. You go.)
With no other choice, the chosen Infected cautiously approached Roman.
And then…
He slapped him.
Roman was instantly snapped out of his daze.
His face was filled with disbelief.
These little bastards actually dared to slap him!
Roman turned around and glared fiercely at the Infected.
The Infected, however, simply looked around with solemn expressions, as if discussing something completely unrelated.
“Wow, look at this rock. It’s really a rock.”
“Isn’t it? It really is a rock.”
They were clearly playing the “This has nothing to do with me” card.
Roman was so angry that he laughed.
But there wasn’t much he could say, so he simply led everyone toward Mo.
When Roman arrived in front of Mo, he looked at the devastated battlefield and the Emperor’s Blades buried in the ground, his face practically covered in question marks.
Just as he was about to ask what had happened, Mo interrupted him.
“Did you bring a camera? Lend it to me.”
Looking at Mo, who was rubbing his hands together with excitement, Roman knew without even thinking that Mo was definitely up to something.
Nevertheless, he still opened the camera function on his terminal and handed it over.
Mo eagerly took the terminal and began photographing his masterpiece from every possible angle.
After he was satisfied, he returned the terminal to Roman.
“Now your terminal is worth something. This is exclusive footage you probably couldn’t find anywhere else in all of Ursus.”
Roman was speechless.
Completely speechless.
Yes, it was valuable.
It was definitely valuable.
But who would dare accept something like this?
Even if someone dared to ask for it, Roman wouldn’t dare give it to them.
After a brief silence, Roman looked at Mo, who was standing in a pool of blood and beginning to bleed again.
He hesitated before speaking. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
“Are… are you okay? You’re still bleeding.”
Mo waved his hand dismissively, not caring in the slightest.
“It’s nothing serious. It’ll heal soon.”
“And them…”
Roman glanced at the Emperor’s Blades buried in the ground.
The corner of his mouth began twitching uncontrollably again.
“Knowing too much won’t do you any good. I think you know why.”
While Mo and Roman chatted idly, the Emperor’s Blades were having a very unpleasant time.
By the time Mo had begun taking pictures with the terminal, the Blades had already started waking up one by one.
After all, they were the elite soldiers of a great nation.
How could they remain unconscious forever?
Mo naturally noticed that they were waking up.
And so, he became even more shameless.
He shoved the camera directly into their faces.
Don’t open your eyes.
Please don’t open your eyes.
Let this just be a hallucination.
Looking at Mo, who had just beaten them half to death, and the terminal in his hand, the Blades instinctively closed their eyes again and began contemplating the three ultimate questions of life.
Who am I?
Where am I?
What am I doing?
This time, they had truly lost all face.
Not only had they been crushed in a frontal confrontation, but they had also been buried in the ground and filmed like some kind of spectacle.
This would become a stain on their lives forever.
The voices outside gradually grew quieter.
When the sounds suddenly disappeared altogether, the Blades, trapped in their vortex of self-isolation, realized that something was wrong.
They cautiously opened their eyes a crack and looked outside.
What greeted them was a group of more than ten people silently staring at them.
Whoa.
This time, it really was time to go into self-isolation.
Whatever.
Just destroy everything already.
Realizing that everything had been exposed, the Emperor’s Blades simply stopped pretending.
They stared forward with dead fish-like eyes, looking as though they were ready to accept whatever fate awaited them.
“Tsk. Alright, stop pretending. The Emperor’s Blades shouldn’t be this helpless. Get yourselves out. Don’t make me dig you up.”
Mo looked at their broken expressions.
If he didn’t already know how tough these guys were, he might actually have believed them.
The Blades exchanged glances.
Then, decisively, they pulled themselves out of the ground, lined up neatly, and stood at attention as if waiting for their superior to inspect them.
“Are you trying to fight me again?”
Mo raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked at their immaculate formation.
The leader of the Blades hurriedly waved his hands.
Then, without anyone knowing where he had pulled it from, he produced another document and handed it to Mo.
“You have already proven your strength to us. By His Majesty’s decree, if you defeat us, His Majesty will no longer pursue your previous acts of overstepping his authority. He will recognize the legal status of your camp within Ursus and grant you the right to move freely throughout Ursus.”
“The specific terms are all written in this document. Please take a look.”
Mo accepted the document and quickly scanned through it.
Then he tossed it to Roman and sighed.
“Your Emperor really did prepare for both outcomes. The terms in these two documents are completely different.”
“Ursus is a nation that respects strength. Naturally, we must treat the strong differently. After all, we are not so easily defeated by just anyone.”
The Emperor’s Blade explained this matter in a completely matter-of-fact tone.
“Fine. I accept His Majesty’s terms. Go back to where you came from.”
Upon hearing this, the Emperor’s Blades saluted in unison.
Then they gathered their belongings and prepared to leave.
“Wait. One more thing.”
Mo suddenly remembered something.
He quickly walked over to the leader of the Blades and flicked him hard on the forehead with two fingers.
“Remember to send me a new recliner.”
The Emperor’s Blade staggered backward from the force of the flick.
He covered the spot where he had been hit and sucked in a sharp breath.
“Understood. I will have one delivered to you.”
With that, he turned around and ran off with his squad, charging into the snowfield without looking back.
It was probably going to be quite some time before they were willing to show their faces again.
“They sure ran fast.”
Mo watched as the squad disappeared into the distance.
They had been majestic when they arrived, but they looked every bit as pathetic when they fled.
“So, what exactly happened? Aren’t you going to explain?”
After reading through the document Mo had thrown to him, Roman looked at the retreating Emperor’s Blades and turned toward Mo.
“It’s nothing. If you want to establish a foothold here in Ursus, you naturally need the Emperor’s permission. It was simply a test.”
Mo shrugged, completely unconcerned.
“Fine. I’ve read the document. These terms can be considered a special favor. I’ve never seen such favorable policies anywhere I’ve been. And we even received official recognition from Ursus.”
“I have to hand it to you.”
Roman put away the document.
Now, at least, they no longer had to worry about being surrounded and annihilated by Ursus.
That alone was a huge relief.
Looking at the blood-covered Mo, Roman thought for a moment before happily patting him on the shoulder.
Mo immediately grimaced in pain.
“We’ll talk about the stupid things you did later. Clean yourself up and let’s head back. You’ve lost so much blood. Just wait and see how little Ivan deals with you.”
“…Understood.”
“Heh.”
The sun slowly sank toward the horizon.
Under the afterglow of the setting sun, two figures walked toward the distance.
Behind them, the Infected whom Roman had called over stood there, staring at each other with wide eyes.
After a brief silence, they happily trotted after the two men, following them back toward the camp.
