I woke up to voices arguing.

I got out of bed, my little feet barely making it to the floor and I jump down.

Everywhere is so dark that I can’t even see my hands or my next step.Full novel: Arya’s Second Chance Mate — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The darkness is so thick that it can be halved in two.

Where is mum and dad?

Where is everybody?

I walked down the hall.

Then suddenly, a bright light shone in my face.

Strong hands held my face in place as the light illuminated downstairs.

In the sitting room, I saw Mum and Dad kneeling with their hands on their backs.

“Yuri!

Close your eyes!” Then the next thing I hear is a string of gunshots and growls.

Mum and dad fell limp to the ground.

Their blood splattered on the white cushion.

“NO!!!!!!!!!!” I yelled.

Slowly and painfully my teeth began to ache.

My head.

My arms.

Everywhere was hurting.

“Arghhhh!!!” I yelped and wriggled around in pain.

Then the transition began.

Nails turned into gutting sharp claws.

Bones were crushed and new bone structures were made.

My eyes shone like stars as my vision heightened.

And in an instant, I had turned into a werewolf.

At 8 years old, I had transitioned seeing my parents lying in their own pull of blood and the people around…

I growled and lunged at them.

In the end, everywhere was blood.

I jolted up from sleep, soaked in a sea of my sweat.

Taking heavy breaths to steady myself, I stared out in the open.

Staring at nothing in particular, eyes wide like a security man’s flash light.

Fuck.

The nightmares are back.

I lunged at the first man and threw him behind me.

The second, I squeezed his throat, till he began to beg.

“What happened to Arya?” I snarled.

The Guard shook like a tree and he couldn’t get his words out properly.

“Stop shaking and speak!” I barked.

“I….

I was at the duty post and I saw them pass.

It was like the spe…speed of light” he stammered.

“What the hell were you doing when they left!

“I shoved the guard hard on his chest.

He stumbled to the ground.

He was the one I kept outside.

I thought he was good enough and all but look at this.

I hated inefficient people.

I looked around and could see stacks of chairs at the window of the bathroom.

Why was the window of that bathroom open?

Who opened the fucking gate?

Some people were about to lose their jobs.

My nose flared as I stared at the man.

“Get out” I spat and the man flew out of the room.

I sighed and began to gather the chairs and close the window.

“Angus!” I growled.

He came running in.

“Lock all of them, Later on, I’ll kill them”

”Yes your highness,” he said and just before he left, I called him back.

“Where is Mike by the way?”

”Your highness, I haven’t seen the beta since yesterday”

”Alright, give the order and prepare ten cars, we are going to find Arya.

Where is Chamberlin?”

”He is still sleeping, your highness”

I nodded.

“Good, ask the maids to keep him entertained, he must not know his mother is missing” I warned.

Into the shower I went, within a few minutes I was out, grabbing the first clothes I could find, we left for the woods.

I called the witch and the pack doctor along with me.

The doctor would really come in handy if I were to find Arya wounded.

The witch would help with her powers

3 hours, in the rain and the witch’s guidance, there still was no sign of Arya, although she kept insisting Arya was in this part of the woods.

We began going back, as the rain was hitting us hard.

Just as we arrived in my pack, I heard a guard scream.

Suddenly there was distorted noise at the pack.

Female werewolves were running out of their dwelling in numbers.

Angus and the others ran in that direction to find a silver moon pack member.

“Who sent you?” I thundered.

The intruder limped to a corner, as he made to run for his life but he saw that he was greatly outnumbered.

When he saw that he couldn’t leave, he ran into the lake and drowned.

I howled out to the others to spread out and find other intruders.

“Angus do a head count now” I ordered.

When it was done, they found out that two of my pack members were missing.

It was a werewolf elder and a little she-wolf.

We searched far and wide till it was almost sunrise.

We had to retreat to their packs.

Suddenly Lawson, Angus second in command, let out a heart-wrenching howl.

Something was wrong.

We all ran to him, as he led them to where he saw a werewolf lying on the ground.

He was wounded and beaten.

I needed no telling that was the elder Marcus.

The 3rd oldest werewolf in the pack.

“You!” I ordered Lawson “Gather the vampires, we need to talk,” I said angrily

I rubbed a towel over my head, as I made it out of the bathroom.

I stopped and took a double-take.

There was someone on my bed.

“Chase, you have not been coming to my chambers lately” she whined.

I hissed.

It’s only Fiona.

My dethroned.

“Fiona, what do you want now?” I growled.

“I don’t have time”

”Chase you —”

”You know what?

Get out” I said.

She slowly wore her night gown and left my room.

As she was leaving, Angus was coming in.

“Your highness, we have a lead on where Miss Arya might be,” he said.

“Good, let’s go,” I said, grabbing my gun and my shirt.

“Have you seen Mike?” I asked Angus.

“No, your highness” he shook his head.

I nodded.

Where could that guy be?
