I stormed into Chase’s study, slamming the door open.

There were people seated around a table.

They turned and stared at me like I was a book lost on a shelf—but that was the least of my worries.Full novel: Arya’s Second Chance Mate — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Chase, we need to talk,” I said with my arms crossed.

Chamberlain nudged me, and I looked down.

He looked pretty scared, and I wouldn’t blame him.

No one in that room had a friendly countenance.

“Your Highness, I’m sorry, I—” the guards approached me, and I moved back.

“Don’t you dare lay your filthy hands on me,” I spat, contempt written on my face.

I narrowed my eyes and read his name tag.

“Angus,” I sneered.

“Come on, leave her, Angus,” Chase said, rising from his seat.

“People, this shall continue tomorrow,” he said, and they began to leave his study.

“Take the boy along with you,” he muttered darkly, “and bring in the witch,” he ordered.

He took one step toward me, and it took everything in me not to bolt, but I stood still.

My heart was racing like a horse.

I had sweat dripping from my armpits, and if a noise was made, I would definitely flinch.

Chase watched me and chuckled.

Dang it!

He knew I was scared.

“Are… Aren’t you going to ask me why I’m here?” I asked.

He gave me a half-smile and went to have a seat.

“Nah, I know why you’re here,” he said, looking out the window.

It was pretty awkward—him not saying anything.

I felt weird, and I knew I had to break the silence.

Just when I was about to speak, the door swung open and a man in a white coat, a funny-looking woman, and a guard appeared at the door.

I squinted.

Oh—it was Angus, the guard.

“Your Majesty, they are here,” Chase turned and gave Angus a small smile.

“Thank you, Angus.

You may leave.” The guard nodded and left the room.

Chase got out of his chair and walked up to us.

“Tell her,” he simply said.

The doctor nodded.

He turned to me and presented me with some files.

“Miss Arya, from the records of the Pack DNA, we have ascertained that the Alpha of the Werewolf Pack, Chase King, is the biological father of your son.”

It felt like I had been smacked across the face.

I mean—that was impossible.

“That’s a lie,” I shook my head quickly.

“Your Alpha must have made you conjure all this up,” I pointed to the sheets of paper.

“He is not Chamberlain’s father.

My son is mine!”

Chase smirked.

“You do know that I can sense when my son is close.” I felt like going crazy.

Immediately, the door opened, and Chamberlain ran into my arms.

He looked at Chase and then at me and smiled guiltily.

“Mum, I just hung around because I wanted more candy.

Can I have one?” he smiled with all his teeth showing.

Chase chuckled.

“Angus,” the guard appeared at the door, his eyes wide.

“When did you leave your chambers, kid?” he said.

“Give the boy what he wants,” Chase ordered, and my son jumped in excitement.

They both left the room.

I was stunned.

Sensing a loved one was one way werewolves confirmed they were related.

“Show her,” Chase ordered the witch.

And so, she conjured a spell, and I could see an image.

It was of me—heartbroken, drinking and stealing glances at Chase in the bar.

I covered my eyes in shame.

Oh my goodness.

He *is* indeed the father of Chamberlain.

How did I sleep with the werewolf beast without knowing?

“That’s enough,” Chase ordered, and the witch stopped.

“You may leave,” he said.

And just as I was about to move, Chase glared at me.

“Not you.”

I stood still, as if I had forgotten how to breathe.

I wanted to run for the hills, but I couldn’t.

My body was on fire.

There was an electric pull coming from him.

Chase inched closer to me, and I could feel it.

That pull—that screamed of our connection.

**”MINE!”** a voice growled.

I needed no telling—that was his wolf.

“Do you still think you’re not my mate?” he smirked.

Without even thinking, I brushed past him and walked out of his room.

And that ended my talk of leaving the Black Moon Pack.

I found it hard to adjust to the Black Moon Pack.

But the irony was that my son was having the time of his life.

Last night, he kept thanking me for bringing him here.

He could hit someone, and the person didn’t need to be sent to the hospital—because they were all werewolves.

One of the things I found weird was the vampires and witches that lived in the pack.

I just couldn’t get past it.

From what I had read, witches and vampires had been banned in lycanthropy because of a story I once came across.

Many years ago, in the Werewolf Kingdom, a witch hacked a werewolf of the Blood Moon Pack to death.

The reason for this is not yet known to this day.

Some say the werewolf was engaged to the witch and he cheated on her, so she conjured him in her shrine, struck him dead with an invisible knife, and then sent a vampire friend to suck his blood.

Some say the witch killed the werewolf out of pure evil.

Lots and lots of stories have gone around—but nobody knew the real reason for that.

The said witch was hunted by another witch and killed by the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack then.

After that, they declared that no one in the land of the Blood Moon Pack would practice magic or be seen near witches.

They banished all the witches and vampires in the whole of lycanthropy.

Ever since then, people had to travel far and wide to see a witch—but now I see them roaming around freely in the Black Moon Pack.

That morning, as I tried to get ready for the day, I heard a voice screaming.

I arched an eyebrow.

That voice sounded familiar.

I ran to my window and watched the fiasco.

Just when people began to scream, I saw the man screaming.

It was Jake.
