Huo Yan never expected that after being besieged by zombies and ultimately dying in a self-detonation, he would be reborn.

He was reborn one month after the apocalypse began, and spent some time processing the memories of this life.

Huo Yan realized that nothing before this point had any major issues—except that during his last scavenging trip for supplies, he had been injured and knocked unconscious by zombies while trying to save Deng Tong.Full novel: At the Start of the Apocalypse, I Easily Won Thanks to a Sign-In System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

That had never happened in his previous life.

When he woke up, he found that only five people, including himself, were left; Deng Tong had already fled with the others.

From his memories, the others were fine, though Deng Tong’s personality seemed to have changed dramatically. Huo Yan had assumed it was because of the apocalypse, but now, after rebirth, he finally understood.

It was obvious that Deng Tong had probably reborn first. In the previous life, Deng Tong had always opposed him in the later stages, but Huo Yan’s abilities had already reached Level 7, so Deng Tong couldn’t easily strike.

Unexpectedly, Deng Tong had colluded with the Zombie King, trying to trap him. However, it didn’t go as planned—Huo Yan chose to self-detonate when zombies attacked, perishing along with Deng Tong and the Zombie King.

Now that he had been reborn again, it seemed Deng Tong had wanted to take advantage of Huo Yan’s weaker abilities this time.

Clearly, Deng Tong had failed—thankfully, someone had helped Huo Yan.

When Chen Xi left, Huo Yan hadn’t woken up yet, but he learned a lot about her from Xu Yang and Aunt Xu.

“Chen Xi…” Huo Yan whispered the name. She was a character who had never appeared in his previous life, yet from what he knew so far, she bore him no ill will. Judging by her abilities, she might even become a turning point in this life.

As for Deng Tong, Huo Yan wasn’t in a hurry to take revenge. He knew him well—vain and cautious with his life. Deng Tong was probably still acting like a philanthropist in some base, climbing the ranks. He wasn’t an immediate threat.

The priority now was finding Lin Jingxue. Her Spirit Spring Space was essential for developing a zombie virus vaccine in the later stages. She had to be found before Deng Tong did.

And there was the previous life’s Zombie King—if possible, Huo Yan wanted to deal with him before he became too powerful.

Originally, Huo Yan planned to settle with a few brothers and Aunt Xu in a safe base, then go out alone to search for people.

But Xu Yang and the others refused. Having been through so much together, they truly regarded Huo Yan as a friend—they couldn’t let him go alone.

Besides, all of them had abilities. Though not as strong as Huo, they were still formidable.

So the final plan became: Aunt Xu stayed in the base handling logistics, while the others went out to search for the female lead, rescuing people and collecting supplies along the way.

Unfortunately, after over half a month of searching, they hadn’t found anyone. But they heard that a hotel had appeared in the suburbs of S City, with water, electricity, and food.

Curious, they decided to visit the hotel—and that’s when the previous scene unfolded.

Although they had heard exaggerated stories, they didn’t fully believe them. But seeing it with their own eyes left them utterly shocked.

Especially Xu Yang. He had always loved gourmet food before the apocalypse. Now, tasting the flavors from before, he was so moved he nearly cried, wishing he could live there and eat every day.

“Honestly, Huo Ge, look! No zombies have come in, there’s so much good food, and there’s hot water for showers! I haven’t had a hot shower in how many days?” Xu Yang swallowed the last bite of food and said seriously.

His words were true. Even though they were one of the top ability-user squads in the base, most of the base’s water was produced by water-type ability users. Resources were limited—who could afford a long hot shower?

“Alright,” Huo Yan nodded. The conditions here were excellent, and the technology behind such a hotel likely wasn’t from this planet. Staying and observing a while would be wise.

“Huo Ge! Are you serious? You’re the best! I love you so much!” Xu Yang shouted, jumping up excitedly. He then ran off quickly: “I’m going to book a room!”

Huo Yan shook his head and smiled lightly.

Not long after, Xu Yang returned dejectedly. “All the rooms are full! There’s no room left, wahhh~”

“Ah?” The others also felt disappointed.

Just as Xu Yang considered pitching a tent in the courtyard, they heard a commotion.

The hotel had grown from three to five floors, expanding further into the backyard.

“Whoa! Did I just see that? The hotel… just changed instantly!” Xu Yang rubbed his eyes in shock, turning to the others.

One of them calmly said, “It’s fine, basic operation—means the hotel has upgraded.”

He had been there for nearly half a month and had witnessed a hotel upgrade once before. Back then, he had reacted like Xu Yang. He then gave him a brief explanation.

Xu Yang was amazed. “Incredible… Could there be aliens behind this hotel?”

He then jumped up again. “I have to grab a room quickly, or there won’t be any left!”
