“I’m about your age, just one year older.

From the looks of it earlier, you know the real earth bending technique?

Not just those flashy moves others do?”Full novel: Avatar: Rise of the Strongest Water Master — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Of course.

I’m self-taught, and I’m really good.”

Toph sat on the stool with her legs crossed and her arms folded across her chest, speaking with immense pride.

“Impossible.

I’ve never met anyone my age who’s better than me.

A little girl like you?

Tsk, tsk, tsk.”

Koda genuinely looked down on her.

He considered himself quite skilled already.

To suddenly encounter a girl younger than him who might even be better in a fight was utterly unacceptable, and something he could not admit, especially since she was blind.

He figured the girl probably had not seen real skill in others, so she thought she was amazing.

Self-taught?

To his ears, that was just a joke.

What true master would dare claim to be self-taught?

Proper growth required a teacher’s guidance, step by step.

The girl only knew a bit of earth bending and thought she was great.

He felt it was his duty to correct that notion.

Warm sunlight bathed the courtyard, dispelling the chill approaching the winter solstice.

Not far off, in the sunlight, a red panda lounged leisurely, and the flowers proudly opened their hearts.

“So, what do you think, little sister”

Koda dared to speak like this only after seeing Toph’s less-than-proper side.

After all, he was not exactly a proper person either.

He was someone who could easily trick others without a second thought.

“You’re sure you want to fight me?” Toph’s pale green pupils stared straight at him.

The corner of her mouth lifted slightly, revealing a bewitching smile.

The aura around her began to rise steadily.

Her white dress did nothing to soften her appearance.

Instead, it accentuated her imposing presence.

…

That bewitching smile appeared again.

The sight made Koda momentarily dazed.

He was all too familiar with that expression, remembering the figure he had pursued day and night.

Memories slowly welled up from the depths of his heart, overwhelming his current competitive spirit.

“You are?” he unconsciously murmured softly.

His arm lifted slightly, reaching out across the distance as if to touch her.

Then he came to his senses and lowered his arm.

Looking at the girl before him, his heart was in turmoil.

No, it can’t be.

It’s just a resemblance.

An expression alone doesn’t prove anything.

Father also said it wouldn’t be that easy to encounter.

Calm down, calm down.

He kept comforting himself internally, took a long, deep breath, and settled his fluctuating emotions.

He did not even realize his mood had already shifted.

“What’s wrong with you?” The girl keenly sensed something was off with Koda’s state, as she was highly sensitive to human emotions and could vaguely discern if someone was lying.

“It’s nothing.

I just thought you resembled someone I know.

She’s very beautiful, but it’s unlikely.

Although, I’ve never actually seen her either.”

Koda said this lightly.

His earlier competitive drive had vanished.

Now, he just wanted to play along with Toph properly, relax a bit, and help her feel less lonely.

Koda could sense that Toph was usually kept under very strict control, cared for in every way.

Judging by her earlier personality, she did not want any special treatment.

She also wanted others to treat her normally.

But given her situation, others would not think that way.

They all believed she could not live independently.

You know her but haven’t seen her?

And am I also very beautiful?

My eyes are blind.

I can’t see myself or what I look like.

Thank you for the compliment.

I’ll go easy on you later.”

The aura that had just subsided instantly flared up again.

Koda’s competitive spirit had been suppressed, but hers had not.

She also did not believe anyone in her age group could be stronger than her.

Toph stood up from the stool.

Her left foot slid forward a small step, her right hand fingers curled toward her palm, and her left hand rested on her waist.

Instantly, her aura reached its peak.

The air seemed to grow still, as if an attack could come at any second.

“Stop, stop, stop!

You don’t want to fight here, do you?

Absolutely not.

Let’s set a time and place.

You decide, okay?”

Seeing Toph about to start a fight there, he hurriedly stopped her.

If they made too much commotion, someone would notice.

Didn’t this little girl ever consider the consequences?

“Hmm That’s true.

Alright.”

She seemed to have also considered the difficult consequences and stopped.

She relaxed her poised stance, sat back down on the stool, and returned to her usual girlish demeanor.

Her long skirt danced in the gentle breeze, her two hair buns swaying along.

She propped her head on her hands resting on her legs, her little feet swinging back and forth.

Koda really wanted to grab both her feet and hold them still.

Watching them made him itch.

The girl sat on the stool, frowning.

Suddenly, her brow smoothed, as if she had thought of something.

She jumped down from the stool again.

“Tomorrow!

Tomorrow.

My old man is coming back tomorrow afternoon.

Let’s fight in the morning.

At the foot of that mountain over there.

I’ll wait for you there at 8 AM.

Remember to come.

Don’t forget.”

Toph pointed to the mountain not far away as she spoke to him.

Koda was startled by Toph’s sensing ability.

That mountain was at least several kilometers away.

To sense it from that far…

this detection ability alone was something many earthbending masters did not possess.

He was starting to regret making the agreement with Toph.

Her detection ability must just be strong.

Her other abilities definitely are not that great.

Otherwise, that would be too monstrous.

No teacher’s guidance is one thing, but truly self-taught?

That’s really hard to accept.

Koda comforted himself with this thought.

“Okay, I’ll definitely be there on time.

But how about adding a wager?

That’ll give us more motivation.”

He still had a gold necklace.

It was not much use in his hands.

Might as well offer it as a bet.

That would give it some meaning.

Otherwise, it was useless and just took up space.

He had said he would not sell the necklace, and he would not.

“Wager?

What does that mean?”

Toph was very puzzled.

Having been confined to her home for years, she had never heard such a widely circulated term.

“It means we make a bet.

Each person puts up something of roughly equal value.

Whoever wins takes both.

If I win, I’ll give you this heirloom gold necklace of mine.

This gold necklace was worn by my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother back in the day.

It’s priceless.

Even when I was homeless and starving for five days, I never thought of selling it.

You can imagine how precious it is.

If you don’t believe me, feel it.”

Koda walked forward, took Toph’s hand, placed the gold necklace in her palm, and then guided her fingers to feel the texture of the necklace.

After feeling it for a while, Toph clearly showed a yearning expression.

The next moment, Koda took the gold necklace back.

“Had enough feeling?

What do you think?

I’ll use this necklace as my stake.

What about you?”

Seeing him withdraw the necklace from her hand, Toph’s face clearly showed displeasure.

She had not had enough.

Being a recluse most of the time, she developed a great interest in novel things.

And hearing Koda talk about how precious the necklace was made her want it even more.

Seeing her expression, Koda knew she had not had enough.

As if you’re the only one who hasn’t had enough?

I haven’t either, you know.

I dare say, if you’d let me feel, I could do it for ten years…

cough That’s a bit perverted.

But it really is soft, tender, smooth, very comfortable.

“But I don’t have anything else.

I only have this.”

Toph pushed up her sleeve until it stopped at her shoulder.

Yes, she pushed it up, and on a dress no less.

Such behavior was very Toph.

Koda looked at her left arm.

A large purple jade bracelet was worn on her wrist.

She took it off and handed it to Koda.

He reached out and took it, realizing this purple jade bracelet was truly extraordinary.

Within the purple jade were specks of red and black, like starlight.

He slightly turned his body, letting sunlight fall on the bracelet.

Immediately, the bracelet turned pink.

Even with no understanding of jade, he could sense the bracelet’s preciousness.

“So, can my bracelet serve as the wager?”

When Toph asked this, her usual imposing aura was gone.

Instead, she looked pitiful, afraid its value might not match and he would refuse.
