The hotel manager’s anxious voice echoed down the hallway, yet it could not halt Leng Fu’s advance.

The hem of her black mourning dress swept across the marble floor, leaving a trail of somber gloom in its wake.

Seeing that courtesy had failed, Leng Fu’s voice turned cold as ice-tempered water.

“Fu Di, break it down!”

No sooner had the words left her lips than Fu Di, who had been following closely behind, lifted his leg and kicked hard against the door to Room 1001.

With a loud crack, the door flew open. Scattered across the bed were clothes, and two naked, entangled bodies instantly pulled apart.

“Ah!”

Li Shuangxue’s shriek pierced the air as she frantically grabbed for the covers, trying to hide her body.

“Don’t look.”

Fu Di reacted instantly, his warm palm covering Leng Fu’s eyes, his deep voice thick with barely contained fury he would not let anything sully her gaze.

The next moment, Leng Fu pushed his hand away.

“If they dare do it, I certainly dare watch.”

Li Shuangxue flinched under Leng Fu’s icy stare, curling into the arms of the equally naked Lu Jun beside her like a startled rabbit. Tears instantly welled in her eyes.

“Jun-ge, it’s all your fault… I told you we shouldn’t, but you insisted… you insisted…”

“Sister Fu must be heartbroken, doesn’t she?”

Where Lu Jun could not see, Li Shuangxue lifted her head from his shoulder, her tear-filled eyes flashing open defiance at Leng Fu.

So what if you’re wealthy, powerful, and beautiful? You can’t even keep a man.

“A-Fu, Shuangxue and I truly love each other.”

Lu Jun patted the trembling woman in his arms, frowning with displeasure offended that Leng Fu would force her way in uninvited. His tone was as casual as discussing the weather, not a flicker of remorse in sight.

“You’ll grant us your blessing, won’t you?”

Leng Fu stared blankly at Lu Jun her childhood friend, her fiancé who no longer even bothered to pretend. She did not weep. She did not rage.

Time seemed to stand still. Just as Lu Jun clenched his fists, about to lose his patience, her lips parted slowly, her voice terrifyingly calm.

“Yes.”

“I knew Sister Fu would be reasonable.”

Lu Jun breathed a sigh of relief, gazing fondly down at Li Shuangxue in his arms. “You were worried she’d refuse…”

He never finished. His eyes flew wide, his voice cutting off abruptly as he stared in disbelief at the blade buried in his chest.

“You…!”

Li Shuangxue stared in horror at the man who had just sworn his life to her. Bright red blood poured freely, spraying across the white sheets as he fell backward like crimson plum blossoms blooming amid fresh snow, beautiful and deadly, with the same eerie allure that radiated from Leng Fu.

Before her scream could escape, Leng Fu pressed the knife to her throat.

“Shh… be quiet, won’t you?”

Li Shuangxue swallowed hard, clamped a hand over her mouth, and nodded frantically terrified the woman had lost her mind and would strike again.

Leng Fu glanced at her with contempt, the red blood sliding down the blade staining her pale palm. She pulled the dagger away from Li Shuangxue’s neck and stood motionless, staring at Lu Jun’s lifeless form.

Too slow.

Her parents had died rushing for the Lu family, trapped in a fire and in the middle of the Leng family’s mourning, Lu Jun had secretly shorted their stocks while she was distracted, buying controlling stakes at rock-bottom prices to become the largest shareholder of the Leng Group.

Shrill sirens wailed from the street below the manager must have called the police when he could not stop her.

Fu Di reached for the knife, but Leng Fu stepped back, alert.

“Give it to me, please? You’ll hurt yourself, Miss.” His voice shook with a panic he had never known. “I did it. You know nothing about this.”

“No.”

Leng Fu smiled faintly, almost relieved. “Fu Di… I’m tired.”

“I know. I know everything…” He stepped closer slowly, hands raised to soothe her like a frightened child. “Just give me the knife so you can rest, won’t you?”

“No.”

The moment he lunged forward, Leng Fu did not hesitate she drew the blade across the artery in her neck.

Blood surged forth like a crimson waterfall.

“No!”

Fu Di’s cry tore from his throat as he caught her falling body. He pressed his hands desperately to the wound, but the blood seeped endlessly through his fingers. “An ambulance! Someone call an ambulance!”

He thundered the order at the hotel staff, who stood frozen in terror.

Leng Fu’s vision blurred as her pupils dilated from blood loss. With her last strength, she lifted a hand and brushed his red-rimmed eyes.

“…Like… a rabbit…”

Fu Di held her tightly, pressing his forehead to her cold cheek crossing the line he had always kept tears spilling onto her face. She blinked slowly, and one tear slipped from the corner of her eye, as if shed on her behalf.

“Fu… Fu Di…”

“I’m here. I’m right here.”

“I… will go… to… hell…”

“No. You won’t.”

Sirens screamed outside; footsteps thundered down the hallway. None of it mattered now Leng Fu’s eyes had closed forever.

Sheathing his grief, Fu Di wiped the blood from her face, holding her as if she were fragile glass, and made his way to the hotel rooftop. Gazing down at the crowds scurrying like ants, he kissed her cooling forehead and tightened his hold.

“Don’t be afraid, Fu Fu… I’ll go to hell with you.”

Ding: Eligible host detected. System binding in progress

Binding incomplete host fingerprint required to finalize.

“What are you?”

Leng Fu’s spirit self touched her unmarked neck, eyeing the glowing orb before her.

“I am not a ‘what’ I am the Conquest System, originating from advanced planet M228.”

“Your mission: assist the original female lead of another world betrayed by a transmigrator, just as you were in winning the male lead’s heart. Gather Regret Value and Affection Value.”

So Li Shuangxue was a transmigrator. That explained everything.

“What’s in it for me?”

“Successful binding grants you rebirth.”

Leng Fu laughed, wild and unhinged. “You’ve got it all wrong. I chose to die.”

“What use is a second life? Do I want to live longer?”
