Jiang Luxi stopped struggling with Jiang Feng and took the elevator to the laboratory.
On the way, she had already made up her mind. She intended to inform Huo Jin Ge that she needed to visit the previous hospital.
She would find the doctor who originally diagnosed her and have her psychiatric evaluation report revoked.
This would be much faster than wasting time arguing with them.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she ran into Lin Qing, who was also there to see Huo Jin Ge.
Lin Qing was equally surprised and asked with a smile, “What are you doing here?”
Knowing that everyone viewed her as mentally ill, she couldn’t muster any enthusiasm.
Jiang Luxi tilted her chin toward the laboratory and said quietly, “I’m here to see Huo Jin Ge.”
No sooner had she spoken than the laboratory door opened from inside. Huo Jin Ge stood in the doorway, his gaze shifting between the two of them.
“Come in.”
Watching Jiang Luxi follow him like a little tail, Lin Qing couldn’t help but chuckle.
He then entered the laboratory as well and closed the door behind him.
Huo Jin Ge returned to the experimental bench and glanced back at the dejected Jiang Luxi.
He reached for the lab coat hanging on the back of a chair and draped it over her shoulders.
Jiang Luxi stiffened at his touch.
Huo Jin Ge deliberately ignored her fearful and timid expression.
His tone remained as calm as ever: “Did you need something?”
Normally she couldn’t wait to stay miles away from him, so her initiative today was quite unexpected.
Jiang Luxi hung her head, eyes fixed on her own feet, looking exactly like someone who’d been bullied.
In a muffled voice she said, “I want to go to the hospital.”
Huo Jin Ge frowned, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes: “The hospital? For what?”
Jiang Luxi decided to be straightforward. Meeting Huo Jin Ge’s gaze without fear, she declared confidently: “To find the doctor who misdiagnosed me with mental illness.”
Huo Jin Ge rubbed his forehead but didn’t respond, turning back to fiddle with the containers in his hands.
Indeed, some things were impossible to explain.
Jiang Luxi grew even more aggrieved. She didn’t argue or make a scene, just waited quietly.
Huo Jin Ge gently shook the test tube in his hand, his eyes never leaving it.
His face showed no particular expression as he said casually, “Have Jiang Feng and Yu Yi take you.”
Whether Jiang Luxi was mentally ill or not wasn’t something he particularly cared about right now.
If she was, it’s not like he couldn’t afford to support her.
If she wasn’t, all the better – who doesn’t prefer dealing with intelligent people?
Getting his approval finally brought a hint of smile to Jiang Luxi’s eyes.
Lin Qing stood nearby with a friendly smile, waving her over.
Seeing that Huo Jin Ge was completely absorbed in his experiment and didn’t object, Jiang Luxi took small steps over to him.
Lin Qing looked at her with a beaming smile: “I also don’t think you’re mentally ill.”
After all, he wasn’t a psychiatrist.
He couldn’t provide a diagnosis.
He just wanted to build rapport with the patient.
Hearing Lin Qing’s words, Jiang Luxi was so moved she nearly cried. Everyone in the mountain villa treated her like some kind of freak.
She glanced at Huo Jin Ge and complained quietly: “Of course I’m not sick. He’s the one who’s sick.”
Seeing her dare to insult Master Ho, Lin Qing crossed his arms and laughed: “Right, he definitely has issues.”
The two of them went back and forth, thoroughly enjoying their complaining session.
Not far away, Huo Jin Ge set down his pen and habitually lifted his eyes to look for someone. The little thing in a white lab coat was so angry her face was red and neck thick, squatting on the ground muttering something to Lin Qing.
He rapped the table, his tone cold and eerie: “Jiang Luxi.”
Jiang Luxi, suddenly called out, froze in place.
Although she knew he hadn’t killed anyone before, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t go on a rampage later.
Lin Qing squatted on the ground, comforting her: “Don’t scare the young lady.”
Huo Jin Ge ignored his annoying demeanor, his gaze entirely fixed on the flustered little thing: “Come here.”
Jiang Luxi stood up. Having been cursing Huo Jin Ge with Lin Qing, she got carried away and forgot the time, her legs going numb from squatting.
She shuffled toward him slowly, supporting her numb leg.
Huo Jin Ge’s eyes fell on her stiff leg. When she was still a meter away, he simply reached out and firmly grabbed her slender wrist.
With a slight tug, Jiang Luxi tumbled into his lap.
Wrapped in the man’s crisp scent, the position and distance felt undeniably intimate.
She cautiously tried to shrink back.
The man placed a hand on her slender back, subtly stopping her movement, and looked down to ask, “What were you talking about with him?”
He even had to control what she talked about. Surviving under his watch was truly difficult.
Seeing her remain silent, Huo Jin Ge lightly stroked her cheek with his fingers.
His dark eyes narrowed, his tone tinged with mockery: “Not going to say?”
A chill ran down Jiang Luxi’s spine as she clearly felt the grip on her cheek tighten slightly.
No matter what, he was a major villain, someone her insignificant side character couldn’t afford to provoke.
Her eyes darted around, and she put on a flattering smile, pointing at Lin Qing who was registering items across the room.
She acted incredibly docile and obedient: “He said you’re a psycho.”
Lin Qing: ……..
The little girl’s talent for selling people out in seconds was truly remarkable.
Based on this, he could diagnose that Jiang Luxi was definitely not the psycho.
Lin Qing laughed awkwardly, meeting Huo Jin Ge’s icy gaze.
He forced an excuse: “Ahem, it’s just… building rapport with the patient.”
This time, Jiang Luxi was displeased, her face suddenly darkening.
So he had been acting with her all along.
No wonder he kept agreeing with everything she said.
Jiang Luxi raised her hand to cover the side of her face and leaned in toward Huo Jin Ge.
Her warm breath brushed against his ear, causing his Adam’s apple to involuntarily bob.
The two of them whispering looked intimately close.
Lin Qing wore a pained expression. They had been chatting just fine a moment ago.
How could she turn around and sell him out, defecting to the enemy camp?
Huo Jin Ge raised an eyebrow, glancing at Jiang Luxi’s sincere expression. Unbeknownst to even himself, a hint of doting flickered in his eyes.
“Really?”Jiang Luxi nodded, putting on a sycophantic, flattering look: ‘Really, that’s exactly what he said.'””
What a joke. If she didn’t cling to the villain’s coattails now, she wouldn’t even know how she died.
Huo Jin Ge was amused by her obedient demeanor.
The next second, he scooped the soft woman in his arms up horizontally and stood from the chair.
Jiang Luxi instinctively wrapped her arms around the man’s neck, afraid he might let go in a fit of displeasure and she’d fall.
Lin Qing was puzzled. Having finished their secret chat behind his back, why were they leaving now?
In a last-ditch effort, he asked: “Master Ho, didn’t you ask me to come find you?Huo Jin Ge looked down at the silent Jiang Luxi in his arms and responded perfunctorily. He seemed to have developed a kind of joy called nurturing.
Lin Qing made a funny face: “Then what are you going to do?”
Didn’t you say the experiment had reached a critical stage?
Huo Jin Ge didn’t even look back, his voice carrying a lazy tone: “Taking her to eat.”
Lin Qing: ………
Lin Qing actually thought Huo Jin Ge might as well take this opportunity to build a relationship with Jiang Luxi.
Just keep her by his side for a lifetime—no more headaches, and he’d be full of energy.
Forget about that damn experiment.
