The house was quiet.

Vaelorian sat at the edge of his bed, staring at his hands. The faint stains of dried blood had disappeared, but the memory of that night remained.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Sundar falling.Full novel: Beyond the Dimensions or Existence — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He could still hear his voice. Still remember the way he had stepped forward without hesitation.

And then there was silence.

Vaelorian lowered his head.

He had returned home, but a part of him had remained at that roadside.

His phone vibrated.

A message from Sundar's number.

For a brief moment, his heart skipped.

But it was an old conversation.

A photograph of the two of them at the football ground, laughing over something neither of them could remember anymore.

Vaelorian stared at it for a long time before locking his phone.

The following morning, the news began spreading.

A young man had gone missing under unexplained circumstances. His family had reported him missing after he failed to return home. There were no confirmed sightings, no reliable leads, and no explanation for his disappearance.

The report included a photograph.

Sundar.

His face appeared on television screens and news websites. Within hours, the photograph began circulating across social media.

People shared the post. Some offered sympathy. Others asked whether anyone had seen him.

His family appealed to the public for help.

Vaelorian watched the report without moving.

The reporter continued speaking, but the words gradually became meaningless.

Missing.

That was what everyone believed.

Nobody knew what had happened that night. Nobody knew that Sundar had stepped between him and something he could not understand.

And nobody knew that Vaelorian had been standing there, completely helpless.

He switched off the television.

For the first time, he understood how little the world knew about what happened beyond its ordinary boundaries.

And how easily someone could disappear without leaving an answer behind.

The days that followed were difficult.

Vaelorian stopped visiting the football ground. His friends tried calling him, but he rarely answered. Even when he sat with his family, his attention seemed to be somewhere else.

He was not simply grieving.

He was angry.

Angry at the young man who had attacked them. Angry at his own weakness. Angry at the fact that he had no idea what he had witnessed.

Most of all, he was angry because Sundar had paid the price for standing beside him.

One evening, he opened his notebook.

The pages were filled with observations about space, dimensions, consciousness and the limits of human perception.

He turned to a fresh page.

For several minutes, he held the pen without writing.

Then he began.

I spent so much time trying to understand what exists beyond ordinary reality. New chapters come out on novelpin‌g.com first.

But when I finally encountered something beyond my understanding, I couldn't even protect the person standing beside me.

He stopped.

His grip tightened around the pen.

Knowledge without strength is not enough.

He looked at the sentence.

It was not a scientific conclusion. It was not an answer to any of his questions.

It was something he had learned through loss.

The next morning, Vaelorian returned to his studies.

But his approach had changed.

He no longer wanted to collect interesting theories simply because they fascinated him. He wanted to understand the foundations beneath them.

He began with the human body.

Muscle coordination. Nervous system responses. Breathing patterns. Balance. The relationship between physical movement and mental concentration.

He studied how the body maintained stability, how the brain processed sensory information, and how small changes in breathing could influence physical awareness.

He understood that he knew very little.

That realization did not discourage him.

It gave him a starting point.

His daily routine became more disciplined. He divided his time between studying, physical training and controlled breathing exercises.

At first, nothing remarkable happened.

His breathing remained ordinary. His body became tired. His concentration broke repeatedly.

Sometimes he could barely remain still for a few minutes.

On other occasions, frustration made him abandon the exercise altogether.

But he returned to it.

Not because he believed something extraordinary would happen tomorrow.

Because he had finally understood that wanting strength and earning it were two entirely different things.

One evening, after completing his physical training, Vaelorian sat alone in his room.

He placed both hands on his knees and closed his eyes.

He slowed his breathing.

Inhale.

Exhale.

He focused on the movement of his chest, the tension in his muscles and the subtle rhythm of his heartbeat.

His mind wandered repeatedly.

Sundar's face appeared in his thoughts.

Vaelorian opened his eyes.

For a moment, he considered stopping.

Then he remembered something Sundar had once told him during an ordinary conversation.

"You think too much. Sometimes you just need to keep going."

A faint, bitter smile appeared on Vaelorian's face.

"You're still annoying," he whispered.

This time, he continued.

There was no sudden surge of energy. No mysterious light. No extraordinary sensation.

Only a young man learning to control his own body and mind.

And for now, that was enough.

Far from Vaelorian's home, beneath an ancient structure, a dimly illuminated room remained undisturbed.

The black-robed cultivator stood before an elderly man.

Between them rested a sealed object.

The elderly man looked at it.

"Have you discovered anything?"

"Not yet."

"And the young man?"

"He has started changing his routine. His attention has shifted."

The elderly man remained silent.

"Should we intervene?" the black-robed man asked.

"No."

The answer came without hesitation.

"Let him make his own choices. Interference at this stage would only create unnecessary complications."

The black-robed man lowered his head slightly.

"And the missing boy?"

The elderly man's gaze moved towards the sealed object.

"That matter is not finished."

Neither of them spoke again.

Late that night, Vaelorian stood beside his window.

The world outside looked ordinary. Distant lights flickered across buildings, vehicles moved along the roads, and somewhere nearby, people were still laughing.

Life continued.

That was perhaps the strangest part.

Everything continued as though nothing had happened.

He looked at his phone once more. Sundar's photograph was still there, shared by thousands of people.

Vaelorian opened the picture.

He remembered their arguments, their jokes and the countless ordinary moments he had never thought twice about.

He had always assumed there would be more.

More matches.

More conversations.

More chances to say things that could wait until tomorrow.

He locked the phone.

Then he returned to his notebook and wrote one final line.

I don't know where this path leads. I don't know what exists beyond the limits of human understanding. But I refuse to remain helpless simply because I don't understand it yet.

He closed the notebook.

For the first time, his pursuit was no longer driven by curiosity alone.

It had become a responsibility he had chosen to carry.

And he knew that the road ahead would not become easier simply because he had decided to walk it.
