Vaelorian sat quietly in his room, concentrating on the unfamiliar sensations that had become increasingly noticeable since his awakening.

Energy Perception.

Although he had managed to awaken the ability, understanding it was proving considerably more difficult. He could sense faint energy fluctuations around him, but identifying their source and nature remained beyond his current capabilities.Full novel: Beyond the Dimensions or Existence — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He closed his eyes and focused.

For a few moments, the surrounding energy became slightly clearer. Then his concentration weakened, and the sensation gradually disappeared.

Vaelorian opened his eyes.

"Still not enough."

He glanced at his notebook. Several pages were filled with observations, questions and incomplete explanations. He had begun treating his cultivation like a subject of scientific investigation, recording whatever he could observe rather than relying entirely on assumptions.

Yet there were still countless things he didn't understand.

He had no idea that the world beyond his ordinary surroundings was already filled with people who had spent centuries studying such phenomena.

Far from ordinary human settlements, hidden territories existed across the planet.

Some were situated within enormous mountain ranges. Others occupied secluded valleys, underground regions or landscapes concealed behind ancient formations.

From the outside, these places appeared inaccessible or entirely unremarkable. Satellite imagery showed mountains, forests and ordinary geographical features. Travellers attempting to reach certain locations often found themselves following unfamiliar routes, eventually returning to places they had already passed.

These were not natural geographical anomalies.

They were the results of formations established by cultivators.

Such formations could distort perception, conceal entire territories and interfere with ordinary methods of observation. More advanced defensive systems could even prevent unauthorised entry.

Within these concealed regions existed a society that ordinary humanity knew almost nothing about.

Cultivation clans maintained their own territories, laws, resources and hierarchies. Their settlements contained ancient architecture alongside advanced technological structures. Energy reactors supplied power to enormous facilities, while spatial formations protected important locations.

Technology and cultivation were not opposing forces in this world.

They had developed together.

Some civilizations relied primarily on technological advancement. Others devoted themselves to cultivation techniques passed down through generations. The most influential territories had learned to combine both.

However, these societies remained largely separated from ordinary human civilization.

The reasons were rooted in history.

Ancient records described a catastrophe from an era so distant that even the oldest clans possessed only incomplete accounts of it. The conflict had involved forces far beyond the capabilities of ordinary humanity. Its consequences had affected entire regions, destroying settlements and leaving behind dangerous remnants of cultivation techniques and energy-based weapons.

The survivors eventually established rules to prevent another catastrophe from involving ordinary civilizations.

Over time, these arrangements developed into an ancient agreement known among the hidden territories as the Separation Accord.

Its principles were simple: cultivation territories would preserve their independence, ordinary human civilizations would be protected from unnecessary interference, and dangerous cultivation knowledge and resources would not be carelessly exposed to the outside world.

But the agreement was not maintained for a single reason.

Cultivation resources were limited. Ancient ruins contained techniques and materials that powerful clans competed to obtain. If ordinary governments and corporations gained unrestricted access to such discoveries, conflicts over those resources could spread far beyond the hidden world.

Furthermore, cultivators possessed abilities that ordinary humans could neither understand nor defend against.

A conflict between a powerful cultivator and an ordinary settlement could cause devastation without either side fully understanding what had happened.

For these reasons, secrecy had become an important part of the hidden world's existence.

Yet not every clan followed the same principles.

Some believed secrecy was necessary for survival. Others considered the Separation Accord an outdated restriction. A few powerful factions maintained their own interests regardless of its original purpose.

The hidden world was not united.

It was a civilization of competing ambitions, ancient traditions and constantly shifting alliances.

Inside a secluded technological complex, several elderly cultivators were gathered in a monitoring chamber.

A large holographic display showed information collected from different regions.

One of the elders examined a particular reading.

"His perception has become more stable."

Another looked towards the display.

"His progress is unusual, but we still don't know what his actual potential is."

"Then continue observing. Do not interfere unnecessarily."

A younger individual standing nearby spoke.

The elder shook his head.

"Not yet. There is no reason to attract attention without sufficient information."

The display changed, showing several energy readings.

The conversation soon moved towards other matters concerning the hidden territories.

Inside another training facility, a young man stood before several floating energy targets.

He wore a dark blue uniform decorated with silver patterns.

Kael Dravorn.

His expression remained calm as he raised one hand. Several spatial distortions appeared around him, causing the targets to shift positions.

Kael moved his fingers slightly.

A thin spatial force struck three targets simultaneously. They disappeared in flashes of light.

An instructor observing the demonstration nodded.

"Your spatial control has improved."

Kael lowered his hand.

"It still isn't enough."

The instructor looked at him.

"You are already among the stronger cultivators of your generation. Don't confuse ambition with dissatisfaction."

Kael remained silent.

He knew his abilities had improved, but he also understood that there were others capable of challenging him.

One name in particular came to mind.

Rhaegar Voss.

Across another training facility, Rhaegar was undergoing a separate assessment.

His crimson robes moved as he released a concentrated wave of energy. Several metallic targets shattered under the impact.

An attendant examined the readings.

"Your output has increased."

Rhaegar smiled faintly.

"Then the competition should be interesting."

He glanced towards the display showing information about other young cultivators.

His eyes stopped at one particular name.

Kael Dravorn.

His expression changed slightly.

"Let's see whether he can keep up this time."

The rivalry between the two had existed for quite some time. Neither was willing to accept the other's superiority, and their differences had gradually become a source of tension between the factions supporting them.

Their upcoming encounters would be more than simple demonstrations of strength.

In another secluded territory, a young woman stood on a wide platform surrounded by floating stones.

Seraphina Veyr.

Her white and gold robes moved gently as she extended her hand.

The stones began rotating around her.

Unlike ordinary energy techniques, her control was exceptionally precise. Each object followed a separate trajectory, yet none collided with another.

She slowly closed her fingers.

All the stones stopped simultaneously.

An elderly woman observing her from the side nodded.

"Your spatial control is becoming more refined."

Seraphina lowered her hand.

"Thank you, Elder."

"I understand."

"Do not underestimate anyone simply because their cultivation stage is lower than yours."

Seraphina nodded.

She understood that cultivation strength was not determined by stage alone.

Experience, technique, control and understanding could all influence the outcome of a battle.

She returned her attention to the floating stones.

There was still much she wanted to improve before the competition.

Elsewhere within the hidden territories, a meeting was taking place between members of several influential clans.

A holographic representation of an ancient spatial structure appeared above the centre of the chamber.

Its design was unlike conventional formations. Several interconnected spatial patterns surrounded a central structure whose purpose remained uncertain.

One of the elders examined it carefully.

"This structure has existed since before our current records began."

Another cultivator responded.

"That does not mean we should continue leaving it untouched."

A third figure spoke.

"Attempts to investigate it have already caused instability. We cannot risk damaging something whose function we do not understand."

The discussion became increasingly tense.

Some believed the structure might contain valuable resources or ancient knowledge. Others argued that interfering with it could create consequences that no clan would be capable of controlling.

"How long are we supposed to leave it untouched?" one elder asked.

"Until we understand what we are dealing with."

"And who decides when that happens?"

Silence followed.

The disagreement reflected a deeper problem within the hidden world.

Even among powerful clans, knowledge was incomplete. Ancient records had been damaged or lost, and many structures left behind by earlier civilizations could no longer be properly understood.

Their technological instruments could measure energy fluctuations, examine spatial distortions and reconstruct portions of damaged formations.

But measurement was not the same as comprehension.

The meeting continued, with no final agreement reached.

Back in his room, Vaelorian closed his notebook.

He leaned against his chair and looked towards the window.

His surroundings appeared ordinary.

People outside were returning home, vehicles moved along the road, and distant lights gradually illuminated the neighbourhood.

Nothing suggested that another civilization existed beyond the limits of ordinary human awareness.

He had spent much of his life believing that humanity's understanding of the universe was incomplete.

Now, without fully realising it, he was beginning to approach something that extended far beyond scientific curiosity.

Somewhere beyond the world he knew, people were cultivating abilities he could barely imagine.

They possessed technologies capable of interacting with spatial structures, formations that concealed entire territories and knowledge accumulated over countless generations.

Yet even they did not understand everything.

The ancient spatial structure discussed by the clans remained a mystery.

And the reasons behind the Separation Accord were buried beneath layers of incomplete history.

Vaelorian knew nothing about these matters.

For now, he was simply an ordinary young man trying to understand the first ability he had awakened.

But the world around him was far larger than he had ever imagined.

And its secrets were beginning to surface.
